Wow! Go to work and to pick up the kids from school and all kinds of cool stuff happens! Love the new concept for next year... though I must admit I would rather celebrate my birthday (Dec. 8) on a training trip to the World than wait till next year! Have a great trip DCanoli and give Mickey a big ol kiss for me! Back to the real world for a bit...

Thanks for the heads up, Bret! :thumbsup2

So ... no boys allowed? :confused3

Yeah...no fair!!! :rotfl2:

No, it was a geographic segmentation. These gals all live in the NY/NJ/North East area (Laura is the farthest, as she lives in MA).

The rest of us received a nice token gift via FedEx today. :thumbsup2

How great that you get invited to PR events like that as well as little FedEx goodies (I saw the post from Kim L, too)! I am sooooo excited about 2009's Theme and what a great benefit of the B-day thing. I may just have to plan another trip in Nov 2009.:cake:

I'm sure it's nothing personal. ;) My guess: It's based on proximity. All of these ladies are based in or near New York:

-Beth - New York
-Erin - New York
-Laura - Massachusetts
-Michelle - New Jersey

Ahhh! 'Looks like the folks at Disney have us exactly where they want us! Clever, clever marketing gimmick!! :teeth: (But it does sort of feel like a win-win! ::yes:: )

Hey guys I saw this news when I was on the site today. It's official!!!!
Today I called and changed our airline tickets and room reservations and guess what? We are leaving for WDW on Tues, I figured I was stressed out and needed a break. (some break washing, cleaning and now packing for a trip; a well deserved trip I must say......) I can't wait, I'm leaving two days early with the three kidos and my Dh will be arriving later in the week. We are staying at AKL so hopefully I will get a chance to catch up with some of you who are going for the race.

I think I'm catching up on all the news. Welcome to all our new friends!:grouphug:

WE HAVE POWER and WATER!!!!!!
Thanks for all the well wishes. Things are still a bit crazy, cleaning, doing wash and dealing with the NASTY Fridge.:confused3 If you've never been through a storm like this I hope you don't. Gas is hard to find and people are running out of groceries in their homes, but none of the stores are open because MANY still don't have power. Enough about that.....

I see that you all have been busy while I was out. I will try to catch up ASAP, but now that things are getting back to normal I need to wash and pack for our trip to WDW next week.

Those of you running the race, how about those clues? Needless to say I have not been running like I should have, I hoping that the excitement of it all will help me through the race.
Take care and I'll check back later.

Jennifer, I hope your labor was an easy one. One of my friends compared the wind gusts of the storm to labor pains. The minute you thought your home would not stand any longer and that you made it through the huge gust of wind, you had about 45 sec. until another hit..... It's the waiting that gets to you.
Glad to hear you have gas and water. I hope everything else gets easier for you soon!

Hi All,

I had a VERY exciting day in NYC. Moms Laura, Beth, Michelle, and I got to attend the big announcement of the 2009 Disney Parks promotion: "What Will You Celebrate?" Lots of press and Disney bigwigs were there, including the big cheese himself, Mickey Mouse.

We had a great lunch, learned about the theme, saw a new Celebration ad which will begin running on TV next week. (Watch with a box of tissues next to you.) The event was wonderful, complete with characters and a real balloon drop. (I always wanted to be in one of those!)

The Moms had pieced together a bit about "Celebrations" replacing "Year of a Million Dreams," but we had no idea about the free birthday bonus. When they announced this, I literally blurted out, "Oh my Gosh, how cool is that!"

After the event, Mickey and the biggest security contingent I have ever seen (and I say this as a person who been in the West Wing of the White House more than once), walked with a giant balloon bouquet into the middle of Times Square. Mickey hugged a few kids who happened to be there and passed out balloons. So cute.

Here are few photos.

OK, you talked me into it! I've been a "cautious lurker" for a while, so I guess it's time to finally say hello! Everyone on here seems really great, and a few of you have been kind enough to PM or e-mail me the Mickey Moms newsletter, since I don't get them in my e-mail, so thanks for that! Plus, these posts are MUCH nicer to read than all the political ones that seem to take up the CB lately!!!!!!:headache:

Like all of you, I'm anxiously waiting to find out who makes it to the next round. I was one of the ones who never heard anything last year, and it was very frustrating. I recently figured out that for some reason, when I log into my account at Disneyworld.com, my profile says I don't want to receive any e-mails from Disney. But, when I try to go in and update it, it never changes. There must be some glitch that keeps me from changing it. So, this year I got smart and signed up under a different user name with my gmail account, so hopefully I will get their e-mails this time!

Anyway, hello everyone and good luck!!!!!

Hi, Karibeth! :welcome: I like how you found a way to make sure you receive all of your future emails from WDW. Good thinking! It is nice to "meet" you!

WOW! It all sounds so special! I love that Mickey handed out the balloons. I have always thought that every child deserves a balloon! And for Mickey himself to be in the middle of NYC giving children balloons—WOW that must have been AWESOME to witness! I am so glad you are filling us in! Thanks for sharing Erin!

So Erin, I have to ask, today was a day that you will never forget, wasn't it? You are having the most AMAZING time, aren't you?

And to my fellow DIS-ers:

We all know what we want to Celebrate next year, don't we? I know I do!

Here's wishing for some extra pixie dust for us!!!:wizard:
