I can't believe this is starting again for all of us!!! Half the fun last time was "meeting" everyone here and discussing the process along the way, so I am looking forward to that again.

BTW - as I recall, the trip dates this year for the introduction/orientation trip are almost the same as last year. I would therefore think that the selection process would likely follow the same timeline.

Does anyone recall what the dates were last year for the various rounds of the selection process and the date the final decisions were made?

I can't believe this is starting again for all of us!!! Half the fun last time was "meeting" everyone here and discussing the process along the way, so I am looking forward to that again.

Crazy, huh? And, agreed! Actually, the Moms Panel contest is what prompted me to finally introduce myself on the DISboards after years of lurking... It's nice to commiserate with a bunch of friendly people who share the same passion for Disney!

*Thursday, Sept. 6 - Disney introduced its Disney World Moms Panel contest in a press release.
(Contest dates were listed as Sept. 6 through Oct. 5, but the contest capped at 10,000 applicants in less than 10 days.)

*Wednesday, Oct. 17 - Disney Destinations sent e-mails to all first-round applicants (or attempted to anyway ).

*Wednesday, Oct. 24 (at the stroke of midnight) - Second-round essays were due from the semi-finalists.

*Friday, Oct. 26 - Disney Destinations contacted all second-round applicants via e-mail. (They let me down easy... )

*Monday, Oct. 29, Tuesday, Oct. 30 and Thursday, Nov. 1 - Disney conducted phone interviews with the lucky few finalists!

*Early November ('Not sure of the exact date...) - Twelve excited people -- newly appointed members of the 2008 Disney World Moms Panel -- were doing the "happy dance"!

It will be very interesting to see how this contest varies from last year's process. Already, it appears that the first three essays are slightly different. Plus, I read that the application process will include a few questions. (I wonder if they simply involve providing basic contact and biographical info, or more...) Last year, if you recall, Disney relied entirely on our cached account info for such details.

Last year, Disney asked applicants to write three essays:
-About You
-About Your Family
-About Your Expertise

Two of this year's questions are very similar to those asked last year during the first round of the contest. The third question (which requests your favorite Disney vacationing tip) is similar to one asked during round two of last year's contest. I have a hunch that Disney eliminated the "About You" question this year, because they plan to cull enough of that information in the opening questions. We'll see...

11/7/2007 beginning at approximately 4:00 p.m. is when the 2008 Moms Panel started to do their happy dance. And the other 14? Not so happy.... but still VERY excited for those who did make it.

I didnt know you were a poet, but I sure do now! Great job. The first verse captured my feeling exactly, as a matter of fact I spent the day trying to forget that tomorrow is the day -- but it didnt help, I've been re-thinking those answers all day long!
