Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

Hi everyone,

I've been reading your posts ever since my telephone interview for the moms panel. I've never really been into online chatting, but I am very thankful I found your group. You got me through a really stressful week that seemed to last for months. I know you're all curious about the remaining panelist, so I want to drop a couple of lines and let you know that I made the panel. My name is Michelle and I have one daughter, Elizabeth, who is 2. So far I'm the only panelist I know of from NJ. My husband and I absolutely love WDW. My favorite memories of the park are; my dd getting her 1st haircut @ the Harmony Barber Shop, eating in the wine cellar of V&A, and running the marathon this past Jan. That's how I came up with the user name. In the running world, extremely slow runners call ourselves penguins.

I look forward to meeting Heather, Erin, Kim, Bret, ibelieveindreams, and my3boys, next month. I believe Disney will have more initiatives that include die-hard fans like all of you. I've been thinking about it and its seems that the moms panel will fill a niche similar to the customer review section on Amazon. Consumers want to hear opinions, good or bad. I'm hoping they rotate through people and give more folks like you a chance to chime in on resorts, food, rides, etc.

I wish you all well and thanks again for keeping me company over the past few weeks.

Michelle

Congratulations Michelle! I bet you are so excited! Welcome to our little group! :yay:

Congratulations panel members. We are so excited for you!!!

So have you received any "details" about your new job? One panel member said you will be staying at Coronado Springs. Is there free dining with that? Also are there any other tid bits you can share or is there a confidentiality concern?

I applied to, but didn't make it, so I am living through your experiences.

PS - Welcome new DIS members!!

Michelle,

Welcome to the DIS and congrats on being selected for the Moms Panel.:cool1:

Glad you decided to graduate from "lurker" to "poster"

-Bret/RatBoy/SharkBait

[and to any other lurkers out there:surfweb: : Come join in the fun! If you don't want to be public, at least send one of us a PM to let us know you are around. :thumbsup2 ]

Hey Bret! they BETTER want to be in public..after all, didn't they just become members of the MOMS Panel? I don't think it gets more public that that!

Michelle - welcome! You look great on the DIS!

A little OT...I had a dream last night...it was a dream that Leanne called to say they wanted to add more panelists to the team and they were about to ask me to join you guys. It was a great dream - until the phone rang at 4:00 a.m. - hubby had to go into work. How crazy is that? I can't even win in my dreams!

Of course that cracked DH up...he has asked why I thought I had a chance at this anyway - I've never won anything in my life, etc. He told me this whole process was similar to the way I play the lottery. I get excited if I have 1 or 2 numbers (even though there is no payout), but I never win in the end. He's probably right but I'm determined to show him one day!!!

At this point, we don't really know much more than you do. None of us has gotten any additional communication from WDW since the day of the calls. Pretty much all we know is that we're staying at Coronado Springs. All our meals will be covered from Saturday dinner through Tuesday breakfast, but they will be working meals with the group, so there's not really any need for a dining plan or anything like that. I have a feeling that they're going to keep us pretty busy while we're there and that there's not going to be much time for individual touring, but I really don't know. This trip in Dec is really all about the training -- and we don't know yet what that includes.

Okay, since you put in your funny dream, I have to share mine. I was too afraid to mention this earlier. The night before the 2nd to 3rd round came out, I had a dream that the 3rd rounders were on "Regis & Kelly" the next morning. I was so upset because I wasn't even notified I didn't make it to round 3. The only people I remember making it was RATBOY! Isn't that funny? His name totally stood out in my dream. I think this was before I started posting...I was a LURKER!!!!
Diane, I don't win anything either...well I did win Bingo on a cruise, but had to split it with 3 couples, that was the deal. I won a bottle of wine one time!
TOO FUNNY! You aren't alone with your funny dreams. I got a call from Disney World this weekend..it was from the DVC..we are on the fence about it. My dh said, "Disney is on the phone!". I almost fell out of my chair, actually I think I did! :rotfl2:

Hope everyone is having a good Monday! :yay:

Wrong! You just won the funniest dream story!!! :rotfl: And staring RATBOY! :rotfl2:

Yeah! Just what I always wanted to win!!!The funny part of the dream, is I watch Regis & Kelly maybe 15 minutes a week! I just catch little bits of it here and there..sometimes at the gym or when I am getting everyone ready! Yeah..it is a funny story.

I hope Ratboy gets a kick out of that one. I guess his name stuck with all of us!

This is really funny if you've read Kingdom Keepers.
If you haven't read it, be sure to.
It's about kids who are part of a new promotion at the Magic Kingdom and they get brought into the park in their dreams.
It's really fun if you love Disney and fantasy similar to Harry Potter.

Here are a few questions for you panelist.

Is Disney arranging your air transportation? Are you each getting a room to yourself or do you have a roommate? Who gets RatBoy if that is the case?:rotfl:

Is there any thing special that they have asked you to bring?:confused3

Are you excited yet? :lmao:

I will admit that I too have been having panel dreams.:sad2: :rotfl:

I am going to have to get that! We are huge Harry Potter fans (along with Disney). Thanks for the advice! I have never heard of that before. I may put that on my Christmas list from Santa! :santa:
I am glad you got a kick out of my dream. :cloud9: When Regis & Kelly pop up on the TV, I think...yeah, Ratboy was on! It was so real! :lmao:

Leslie

They haven't told us anything else yet. They are arranging for our transportation and we will be having meals together. I would imagine that we all have our own rooms.

Good morning all!

Leslie- You know your dream will be even more realistic if our lovely panelists get to meet Regis & Kelly. Are they MCing the Christmas parade this year? If they are there might be a chance they would be there at the same time. Wouldn't it be funny if they picked one panelist to talk to and it was Ratboy!:)

I am anxiously awaiting reports from last nights MVMCP so I can plan my night while we are there. If you panelists get to go to MVMCP for training I would love to get some tips when you get back. Here would be my official panel question- How do I make the most out of MVMCP with two small children, who will not be able to stay to watch the second parade? That is the advice I get most- skip the first parade and watch the second. But my kids would not be happy/awake to watch the second parade. So there's a practice question for ya and if you can't answer it now, maybe when you get back from training you can.:santa:

I have never heard of it! Barnes and Noble, here I come!!! I'm so excited! Is it something I can read with my kids to get us all excited for our trip?:cheer2:

poly pixie - as long as they can handle the first few Harry Potter's, then they can handle this!
the scariest part involves Maleficent (my favorite villain!)
It's very similar to Harry Potter in that it's designed for kids, but it's so well written and interesting that adults like it too.

they keep saying they're going to make a sequel soon, but I'm not sure when it's coming out.

My partner and I had a lot of fun this trip pointing things out to each other from the book - like "There's the teepee from that one part, remember!?!?!"
