Adventures of the "Moms" Panel

Hey guys, It's good to see so many people all excited again. I want to wish everyone luck! Any finalist from last year stick by some of your answers?
Boy does all of this bring back some memories. Anyway it's a good thing I'll be in WDW in a few weeks, maybe this will help pass some time.

I guess I'll see some of you at EE Challenge.

Also, can some of you start praying that hurricane IKE doesn't hit Galveston!!! This boarding up and waiting is killing me.

As I look over all these posts and all this angst, I think the Inaugural Panel had it way easier.

I think most of us just shot out our applications without a moment's thought and then immediately forgot about them!

I think if I had known how big this would have gotten, my nerves would have derailed me and I would have over-thought myself(is over-thought a word?) See! And I made it!

So to everyone who hasn't sent in their apps yet, relax, breathe and let the Disney Magic take over your keyboard. That will be the best application ever!

At first I sat and compiled my answers that were way off 100 words, knowing that I would work on the limit after I got all my thoughts on paper (so to say).

After an hour or two, I did just what you said. I deleted my morning work and answered those 3 questions with feelings unrehearsed, just my honest thoughts and I think they turned out really good!! At least I hope so!!!

Slight digression from the topic at hand, but wanted to let any facebook members on this thread know that I made a nice "Moms Panel" flair button (if you "do" fb, you'll know what I mean). You should be able to find it if you search for "moms panel" or "disney forum".

FYI, I also created ones for "WDW Today", "Be Our Guest Podcast", and "Tour Guide Mike", in case you are collecting Disney buttons!

OK, you can now go back to discussing the 2009 Moms Panel application.

Any buzz on the Moms Panel on how active incoming apps are? My guess is 20,000 will be reached by Thursday.

I did apply! I'm holding out hope, but two years in a row as a finalist might be pushing it. Maybe I'll create a shirt for the EE challenge that reads MOMS PANEL HOPEFUL. Do you think I'd get noticed

That's what I did too. And then I came here and thought "Oh no, I didn't put enough thought into it."

Does anyone know how they weed out applications? With so many, there must be criteria for the automatic "no" pile and so on.

An ultimatic no pile could be what I "almost" did...I put DH for husband then quickly realized, I better put the word husband! I hope it isn't the spelling and grammar mistakes like Erin mentioned. (Sorry Erin, you have me paranoid). I tried to be careful but just spoke from my heart. Last year, for my 2nd round answers, I know I went directly to the no pile because I was WAAAAYYY over my 100 words. What the heck was I thinking? I got so caught up in the moment, I lost my mind , math skills or my computer skills (or all)..ha ha!

I hope this year I don't have any Regis & Kelly dreams with Ratboy appearing. HA HA! So...if any of you pop up in my dreams before the contest ends and you are appearing on Regis & Kelly....it is a good thing!!!! I will let you know & I will tell you what you look like on TV. Ratboy didn't look the same though??????

20k apps from die hard Disney men/women like us.....COMPETITION to say the least!

that is too funny! I may have pasted my answers, but at least i didn't start off with, "well, i have never been to Disney, but i hear it's nice!" i think that would put me in the NO pile for sure. Or my favorite character is Spiderman!!

After reading all of the concerns about "magnet theft," I've kept mine safely affixed to my fridge! So... Nope! No cracking!

I 'sorta felt bad that -- by sticking it to my refrigerator -- Disney would be losing part of its fleet of moving billboards. 'Funny thing is: Some neighbors stopped by with their kids, and we invited them in for a while. During the course of conversation, the mom said something like, "I know you're crazy about Disney," then proceeded to ask me a vacation-planning question.

I know I already have a reputation as a Disney-lover, but I've always wondered if spotting my nifty "Mickey Moms Club" magnet helped jog her memory.

So... See? Although I closely guarded my magnet, Disney still might have gotten its money's worth from me.
