Kim, thanks for sharing! LOVED the article - and your pic was great.

P.S. I've been reading your blog...love the EWOK pic...and the entry about date night. I hope you are enjoying your Harry Potter book!

Thanks to all of you. When I need some extra magic in my day, I just stop by here for virtual hugs!

I have a question. I'm in the moms club, but just to fill out surveys. I did get my kit and I love feeling involved! Did they give this to everybody that applied? I want to apply again, and continue being apart of the moms panel anyway I can. Just wondering if anyone knows if they will keep the same logo, do gift packages, and do I have to reapply to continue even as I am? Any help would be great. PS, not trying for the main mom's panel, you girls (&guy) are to hard a act to follow!!

As far as I know, anyone who applied for the MOMs Panel was invited to join the MOMs club. As far as your other questions...I'm not sure anyone knows for sure...it's all very magical. :wizard:

I have since become a mom since the formation of the Moms Panel! Is there anyway I can now get involved since I officially carry a "mom card" now????

Wow, that's dedication to the club! In my experience it wasn't necessary to become a mother just to be a member, but hey it can't hurt your chances! :rotfl:

Sorry, couldn't resist.;)

There is supposed to be a 2009 panel selection process starting in "late summer." I'd keep checking back here to see when it is announced. I don't know if people that apply this time will become part of the Mickey Moms Club, but it seems possible that something similar might happen (just a guess - not based on any "inside info"), and everyone would have a shot at becoming a new member of the Moms Panel.

Funny! :rotfl:

I can probably guarantee that the contest will happen the last two weeks of August...because I'll be on vacation in Florida with very limited to no access to the internet/a computer!!!

Hopefully you can arrange to get access to a PC if the contest happens during your vacations. Do you each have a plan B ready?

Didn't they run the contest in September last year? Here's hoping it will be during the same time period this year, so you can relax and enjoy your vacations. I am sure you both will find a way to make it work! :wizard:

Murphy's Law, eh?? :scared1:

Chin up! :) The first day of Fall is Monday, Sept. 22, 2008, so -- technically -- that makes most of the month of September "late Summer."

Of course, I have no idea what the folks at Disney have in mind, but -- if the contest follows the same schedule as last year -- then we should receive an official announcement in early September.

Exactly!! :thumbsup2

'Looks like Disney kicked off last year's contest on September 6, 2007. (At least, that's when Disney distributed its press release on the subject.)

wdwnews.com: "Walt Disney World Resort is Looking for a Few Good Moms"

Disney searches for park-savvy parents for first-ever Walt Disney World Moms Panel

LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. (Sept. 6, 2007) -- Calling all moms: Is a trip to Walt Disney World Resort your idea of the perfect family vacation? Do you know where to find the one and only campfire marshmallow roast at Walt Disney World Resort? Have you ever been to one of the resort's baby care centers to change and feed your little one? Or maybe you and your family have visited so often that others have said you could write a book filled with travel tips? If so, Disney wants to hear from you.

As part of "The Year of a Million Dreams," Disney announced today the launch of a nationwide search for moms who have mastered the art of planning a Walt Disney World vacation. Twelve finalists will be selected to serve on the first-ever online Walt Disney World Moms Panel. Those 12 parents who have a passion for the Walt Disney World vacation experience will have the opportunity to share their vast knowledge of the resort and personal secrets of success with other families who are considering this magical vacation experience. In exchange, the 12 panelists will receive a 6-day/5-night vacation to the Florida resort for themselves and three other guests.

"Through our consumer research we know that there are aspects of a Walt Disney World vacation that can be challenging to the primary vacation planner, most often that means mom," said Meg Crofton, president of Walt Disney World Resort. "We could not think of a better way to provide vacation planning advice than to create an online forum. This will assist guests who are looking for real and reliable vacation recommendations that fit their family's travel needs."

The Walt Disney World Moms Panel will be found online at www.disneyworldmoms.com and feature content provided by the panel. It will also offer guests the opportunity to pose specific questions and have them answered by the panelists. The site, which goes live in January 2008, will host valuable park insights and vacation planning tools for those parents planning a Walt Disney World vacation.

Are you right for the panel?

Disney realizes that the person who serves the "mom" role differs from family to family. Whether you pride yourself on knowing insider tips and insights for vacationing at Walt Disney World Resort, or are popular among friends and family for planning fabulous vacations on a budget, you may be right for the panel.

From Sept. 6 through Oct. 5, 2007, interested applicants can visit www.disneyworldmoms.com and in 300 words or less in answering three questions, explain why they should be considered for the Walt Disney World Moms Panel. Disney will select 12 panelists with children of various ages.

"For families interested in taking a Walt Disney World vacation, the interactive site will feature a wealth of helpful planning information, expert tips and advice about various topics related to visiting the Walt Disney World Resort," said Crofton.

For those of you who applied for the Moms Panel last year:

*Do you remember how quickly Disney received the maximum number of applicants? The process was supposed to extend from Sept. 6 through Oct. 5, 2007 (or until Disney received 5,000 applicants). Within days, Disney had increased the limit to 10,000 applicants due to such overwhelming response. Then, the process entirely closed shortly thereafter. CRAAAAZY!!

I bet Leanne, Duncan and company were ecstatic when they discovered how well the public received their contest!! It's probably why they felt so compelled to introduce the Mickey Moms Club to every applicant. (...A very classy move on their part, btw! :thumbsup2 ) People sure are passionate about about their Disney!! ::yes::

*Do you remember the confusion about whether the "6-day/5-night vacation to the Florida resort for [each panelist] and three other guests" was the training session or a completely separate trip? (Of course, we now know that each Panelist received a training trip, a personal vacation and a second vacation for agreeing to extend his/her contract for six months.) AMAZING! I'm thinking that this opportunity likely exceeded the Panelists expectations and that the contest (and its winners) probably exceeded the expectations of Disney as well! A win-win situation!!

It's amazing how quickly a year flies by! (I'm confident the current Panelists feel similarly... )

I wonder if the featured Mickey Mom in this issue's "Members Highlight" (Jennifer T. from Michigan) made it to the phone interview phase of the Moms Panel application process like last issue's Mickey Mom (Karen P. from New Hampshire).

Hi everyone! It's been so long since I visited here and posted, but I'm getting caught up with the latest news since I have a trip to Disney coming up at the end of the month. I found this question posted and wanted to share that I was asked to be "highlighted" in the first issue of the newsletter, but was so busy at the time that I didn't have time to do the interview. (It hasn't slowed down much for me, either, but that's beside the point).

I did have a phone interview for the Moms panel, so maybe that's why I was chosen. If that's the case, I'm guessing that the other profiled moms had phone interviews, too, and that's why they were chosen to be profiled.

Anyway, I hope everyone on the panel is having fun with it. I haven't had much time to visit the website, but it seems like you're having fun here, at least!

Take care, everyone, and I'll try to visit more often when things slow down (yeah... like that's gonna happen!). ;)

Well, well, well...look who came out of play! So nice to hear from you.

Hello everybody!

I haven't been on the board for a long time. Summer has been so crazy along with taking 2 summer classes! They are over and I got A's in both, very proud, considering our summer schedule. Guess what my final paper was on for my adv. composition class....DISNEY....dahhh? I have read a few posts but haven't been able to go through all of it. Wow, you panelists have been busy AND doing such a super job! What an amazing experience for all of you! I am excited for the 2009 panel selection to come out but I have a funny feeling it is going to get filled very quickly! Talk about stiff competition! WOW! I am sure they will put together another excellent panel along with being very represented by DIS! I did see some postings on other boards and there were some negative comments on the panel which I didn't think was very nice or warranted to say the least. You guys are so great! ???? We are going on vacation to Orlando and the beach in a few days, no Disney visit though..can't believe it but we were just there in Feb. so we are going to hit Sea World while we are in Orlando. We also love Sea World! Those dolphins are amazing!

Just wanted to pop in and say hello and wish everyone well on their travels!

Thanks to all the panelists that have kept us in the loop on your experiences..so kind of you all!

Take care!
