As this was our third year running at Orlando, the plan was to take it all at a slower pace, and enjoy the atmosphere. No queuing and no commando tactics. We have annual passes for Disney and length of stay passes for Universal. We’re giving Seaworld a Miss this year rather than try to cram too much in.

Day 10 – Monday 22/10/01
Today’s planned itinerary – Boggy Creek and shopping
Weather – Morning sunny, afternoon rain.

When we got up this morning, the skies looked grey and full of rain, so we decided to give Boggy Creek a Miss and just go straight into the shopping.
My sandals had rubbed my little toe slightly the day before, because of being wet. I went to put a plaster on it this morning and the rubbed bit was the exact shape of Mickey ears. Honestly! I kid you not! I had a hidden Mickey on my toe
On the way out, we stopped at reception to ask the nice WIB (woman in black) to remove the valet parking charge from our bill. She was most apologetic and took care of it on the spot. With that taken care of, we drove to the Premier Outlets for some retail therapy. We got a cake and coffee at Starbucks, and then started shopping. I wanted some trainers with a Khaki, or similar, colouring, and Stephen wanted some new boots for work. With this in mind, we went into a watch shop first, and both had new watches. I’m very chuffed with mine. It’s a Timberland, and was reduced from $65 to $30. Ok, not footwear, but we were just warming up ;).
Next we spent about an hour in the leather shop, as I agonised over a leather jacket. I’d wanted one for ages, and it was so nice and soft, and such a bargain….In the end, I bought it, and we wandered on, in and out of footwear shops, but didn’t find what we wanted. I did pop into the character premiere shop and get a few more Disney pins.

Feeling peckish now, so we decided to try the Golden Corral for lunch. What an excellent meal that was. Two buffets and two soft drinks came to $16. The food was superb and there was a great selection. Very nice desserts, too. Recommended!

Now the rain that we were expecting this morning, hadn’t arrived, so we decided to pop into IOA while the weather held. Stephen wanted to go on the Flying Unicorn, a kiddies coaster. I think he knew it was the only coaster he had a chance of getting me on this year. I didn’t like it :p. Not likely to go on Hulk then. Decided to go on best ride in park – Spiderman. Halfway there and the heavens opened. Ok, so we got that one wrong . We sheltered for about 30 minutes as it was really bucketing down and made a dash for Spidey as soon as it slowed down a bit. Using our magic room keys, we went on Spidey twice, and then stopped in the shop to buy a few pins.

We decided to do a bit more shopping as the weather wasn’t that good, and drove to the Beltz. The first thing we found was a Harry and David. If you’ve not been in there, they do amazing chocolate covered fruits, and loads of natural stuff. I bought a bag of chocolate cherries (to die for) and then we went into the Timberland store. All the searching we did for footwear earlier and we found exactly what we wanted in here  I got trainers that are so comfy, and just the colouring I had in mind. I also got a pair of shoes. Well, they were such good bargains, it would be rude not to ;). Stephen found his work boots and we left the store $140 lighter. The thing that I like about Timberland footwear, is not only does it look great, but you can wear it straight away with no rubbing or pinching. It’s so well made.

We were a bit tired by now so headed for our hotel, with just a little detour to the HRH store for some more pins. Well, I thought I might as well have the set while I was at it. Stephen watched some TV, while I caught up on my notes. Stephen was extolling the virtues of his beer, Amber bock, so I had a bottle myself. It was very nice. Stephen checked our bill on the TV to make sure the valet charge had definitely gone. Ah, it had gone, but it was back, and it had brought a little friend with it :(. We’ll talk to them tomorrow.

Pins bought today – 23 (Oops)

Day 11 – Tuesday 23/10/01
Today’s planned itinerary – Open day (luckily)
Weather – Warm

Woke up with another migraine. Somebody up there doesn’t like me :(. I knew I shouldn’t have had that beer, but sometimes I just really fancy one. So, I was bad most of the day, and poor Stephen napped and watched tv with the sound off. I think he was slightly glad to rest his legs (and the credit card – no door to door pin salesmen in the hotel ;)) We popped out to Winn Dixie to get something dry for me to nibble, and something more substantial for Stephen to eat. Got back and I read for a while then we watched TV together. Caught the second instalment of Smallville. I do hope that Sky pick that up. Stephen had some more Amber bock, I declined.
Stephen checked our bill. Our two valet parking charges had invited a guest, so now we had three. I really must talk to them tomorrow

Pins bought today – none :(

Tomorrow – Universal Studios and Epcot

Thanks for the wonderful reports - luv reading them!!!
