Adventure (and Food) is calling our names – 10/2010 PTR - Six More Hours!!! 10/1

I got a package at work today and I was so swamped that I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was. I opened the box and my Hydro Flasks had arrived.

:cool1::banana:

Of course I ditched the work piled on my desk and headed for the kitchen so I could wash it out and fill it with ice water. All of the hype about these water bottles had me excited to see if everything they said was accurate. Well, it wasn't hot in the office so I don't know how it will do in the Florida heat, but the ice kept the water cold and not a drop of condensation on the outside of the bottle. SWEET!! And because I didn't buy the narrow mouth top the ice cubes fit inside without any problems. I didn't even need to buy those ice cube trays for water bottles. Luckily I haven't opened up the package so I can take them back.

Woke up this morning at 5:44am and my first thought?

Eleven more days!!!

:scared1::scared1:

OMG I've got a lot to do before we leave, how is it that the year before the trip goes by so slowly and then as soon as you hit 20 days it goes at time warp speed?

Don't get me wrong, I'm doing this as well.:woohoo::cool1:

Its just I have a ton of work to get done before I can leave without feeling guilty or leaving my co-worker with a ton of stuff to finish.

I got an email from DVC saying "In just a few short days, you'll be coming home to the Walt Disney World® Resort." Woopie!!! More Mickey Mail!!! Tomorrow I get to check-in online.

Ok, so the shoes aren't right, and I need a black set of ears, but I should be pretty comfortable. Although I'm not liking how this makes me look like I have NO waist at all.

I'll try and get the kids to let me take pictures of them in their costumes (as soon as they are finished).

I've got lots of stuff to do tonight, but none of it is trip related. I'm in charge of a fundraiser at Steven's school and I've got to put the order forms together to get to the students.

I think you look great! :) Is it too late to get a pair of saddle shoes? I think they would probably work with your costume.

Jenny - Thanks! I thought about trying to find some mary jane shoes, but I have a hard to fit foot and the thought of trying to walk around in the parks in shoes that haven't been broken in is just too much to bear. The black ugly walking shoes will have to do.

Julie - you are too sweet. Thanks!

Today was super busy. I had to get to work early this morning to do an online registration for Steven and then work was filled with meetings and shopping. I had to shop for all the decor for an all employee event next month. My van was filled with Scarecrows and haybales. Then back for more meetings. Came home and caught up on all my threads and then remembered that I could do my online check-in.

I almost forgot!!!

We are all checked in!

Now I've got to work on my ConGaloosh sash...

See you all tomorrow when we will be doing the SINGLE DIGIT DANCE!!

We are in Single Digit Days!!!

:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Nine more days till we leave for our trip. Today the only thing that I was able to do during lunch was to put together the list of phone numbers and our flight information for my mom and our friend that will be house/cat sitting. Work was crazy busy trying to make sure I met some deadlines for registering attendees for a conference and getting our 3rd quarter accruals sent to accounting.

I've taken off tomorrow to get a bunch of things ready and to get a little pampering. Charlotte and are have appointments for manicures and pedicures. Then we need to figure out her and Brendan's costume pieces once and for all. By the time the weekend is over I want to have the following list completed:

  • All costumes finished (all items purchased and modified)
  • Clean out the fridge (deep cleaning - cat sitter shouldn't have to worry about something crawling out of the fridge)
  • Download memory cards pic so we have plenty of room for food porn and pictures for scavenger hunt
  • Haircuts for Jim and I
  • Do a test pack to see if everything will fit in the number of suitcases we have anticipated
  • Put together the surprise packages for kids (I've bought some little items over the last couple of months, I just have to put them in the travel bags that I bought)
  • Find laundry sheets (Purex 3 in 1 sheets)
  • Try and find Jim's coffee packs
  • Put together address labels for postcards home
  • Buy postcard stamps

Last night I was checking Facebook and one of the board members had posted that he was showing last years ConGaloosh Cast Panel discussion Live. I jumped right over, but I was bummed that I only caught the last 15 minutes. I've asked him if he could re-play it and he thought he'd be able to show it again tomorrow at 8pm (Eastern time). I just need to check to make sure the link is the same (I can't imagine it wouldn't be). If you are reading this thread because of the Adventurers Club reference then you absolutly want to check out this broadcast. I was there and I had forgotten how much fun it was to hear the cast tell stories about things that happened at the club over the years.

I promise I'll post the link here as soon as it is confirmed.

Ok, got to run and watch some premier shows that we had recorded but I couldn't get to the TV this week.

Hooray for single digits! Enjoy your day off. You will get a lot done this weekend!

Can you wait till you get to MK to get the haircuts? I plan trips down to FL/WDW to go to the Barber Shop at MK 'cause theyare the cheapest, best haircuts I have ever had! AND you can get Pixie Dust!!! Not the little whimpy glitter at BBB, but cutout shapes like Cindys Carriage, MM heads and so on in the Pixie Dust. It is under $20 a haircut, and my hard to cut hair looks great till the next trip down.... I have to drive 6+ hours to get there, but it is so worth it!
If you do go to the barber shop it is on the left side of the Town Surare, across the street from the Firestation, and has/had? the traditional red and white Barber Pole out side. GO EARLY! there can be quite the line.
And if DSGF's want Pixie dust only they can do that for about $5.
We will be down Oct 2 to 13. DS is going to propose to his GF at MNSSHP!!! I was sworn to not tell anyone that could blab, but as you are a total stranger, but will be in WDW at the same time, I couldn't NOT tell!
Hope your trip is wonderfull!

PS- Just noticed you at in Martinez...across from Benica? We have a condo off Southampton rd, have since 1984, and remember the whale going up to Sac. Same place?
If so I am soooooo jealous, we moved in 1986, and only get back every 10 to 19 years. Rent the condo out.
Sure hope I run into your group at WDW! I missed the date you all will be at MNSSHP, that is when DS is gonna pop the question....
Costumes look great! and that is what I do for a living, costumer for shows... like the Ren Faire....
And you have done a fab job planning all this, as you can see, I also, tend to go on a bit....

Welcome to my thread! I didn't realize that they did haircuts on women. We can't cancel our appointments now, but I've been trying to get Brendan to cut his hair lately. He needs to keep it kind of longer for his costume for MNSSHP but I'll suggest it for after that.

It would be fantastic if we ran into each other. We will be at MNSSHP on Oct 3 and now you know how we'll be dressed. Please come up and introduce yourself.

Do you know where he's planning on proposing? How exciting and thank you for sharing here! I love that he's told you. Are you planning on video taping it? It would be a fantastic thing to post on the new Disney site for memories.

Yes we are right across the bridge from Benicia and I DO remember Humphrey the whale. We actually had another whale just a couple of years ago, but Humphrey got more press for being the first. My ex-SIL lives in Benicia and loves it. I love the downtown area but man is it windy!

I didn't happen to notice do you have a PTR? If not, feel free to give details here and we can compare notes. Where are you staying? Where do you have ADRs? Are you wearing costumes?

I took today off (had some PTO to burn) and amazingly I was able to sleep in. Charlotte and I had appointments for Manicure/Pedicures. Of course I messed up mine before I even left the shop. The girl was fantastic and redid my big toe. I got Mickey silouettes. She wanted to add eyes and nose or a sequince, but I just wanted something simple. Jim took some pics but I have to upload them.

After our girl time, we went out shopping and we hit the Goodwill store and we were able to find a vest and shirt that will work better for Charlotte than the options that I had found earlier and the best part is they were cheaper and won't need any modification.

In other shopping:
I was finally able to find the purex laundry sheets so we won't have to pack or buy powder stuff, hat and long white socks for Brendan's costume, and shorts and shirt for me $2.99 each at Kmart.

I don't think I mentioned that Brendan has come down with a nasty cold. He's been gargling, taking zink and sleeping as much as possible. I guess its better for him to get this now, but with his issues with his sinus and flying I hope he clears up before we try and get on a plane.

So funny - I have red toes with black classic Mickeys. I had to draw them for my nail tech and she also wanted to add eyes and a smile! I had to convince her not to.

No pics. I took some, but thought my feet were too ugly to share - haha!

Susan,

It was pretty funny when she brought out the white paint and I asked "where are you going to put that" and she described eyes and nose. I just had to keep saying "no, just the head". She was flabergasted. She must have asked 10 times, and another girl as well "you don't want eyes?" NOPE just the heads. Some people just don't get it. I thought about adding some white dots around the outside of the head, but I didn't think that I could explain it well enough to make her understand.

I totally can relate to ugly toes. Mine are chubby and short. Even just having had them done, they aren't the best looking toes, but Jim took pics. Then he walked off with the camera so I can't upload them till he gives it back.

We will be jetting off to Florida! (someone needs to create a airplane smiley)

:jumping1:

I woke up early this morning and tried as I might I couldn't get back to sleep. So here I sit with a cup of tea, dog napping at my feet and cat licking her milk mustach.

I don't want to wake anyone else up so it time to check the web for a couple of items:

What are the hours of Stormalong Bay?
When does Yeehaw Bob perform at Port Orleans and can we fit it in our schedule.
Can we redeem our GAD vouchers on our arrival day, but not use them till the next day?

I hope everyone has a great day!

Wow it's coming so quickly! I wish I could help with the answers to your questions. I have stayed at BC and I bet you could go out to that pool as early as you'd like. But you may not be able to get into the pool until the lifeguards arrive.
