We have Mr. and Mrs. Incredible costumes for the party. All but the pants that is. We are having trouble finding red pants that are not sweatpants material. We are going in Sept so we are planning on hot weather.

Where can you find plain red nylon pants?

Try looking for dancewear/leotards.

Amy as Ariel is ADORABLE! For Horse and others wanting a more covering costume, you can take any top (short sleeved for hot weather if you like) and buy a 1/4 yard of fabric in a metallic material and 1/4 yard of fusible interfacing. Then iron a piece of the fabric onto the interfacing (maybe 1/3 of your strip) and then cut out two 'seashells'. Just sort of a scalloped shape. Then use the rest of the interfacing to fuse them onto the top, or use fabric glue. You can use glitter paint to outline them or make the lines in the scallops, or not. It suggests a mermaid top without having your torso bare, and requires no sewing.

I'm going solo for my fist time and dressing up.
I'm doing a 50's theme costume with poodle skirt and Minnie ears.

I love that costume; and I've always wanted to dress up in an old Mouseketeer uniform with a short sleeved white sweater, a pleated 50's skirt, mouse ears, and "ANNETTE" in big block letters across the front of the sweater.

Thank you so much for your compliment! Do you think they will allow me in the park with my mid drift showing?

To comment on all the Ariel concerns:
I've seen MANY bare midriff Ariel's/Jasmines/Ariel's sisters or even other costumes during mnsshp, on all ages! I don't think it's something that matters at all, as long as you are comfortable, and as long as the seashell top will for sure stay in place!

If you're hesitant/not comfortable with it, then yeah, get the skin coloured shirt for underneath!

Would it be super wierd to show up in a Harry potter robe? I am wearing one for our universal day, trying to keep packing light as it's a 2 week trip.

Not at all. Potter wizards probably show up at every party.

MNSSHP is our primary Halloween. Husband, DS's 10,15 and I will all dress up as a group every year (I can still get the 15 year old to dress up, but only because he does not know anyone)! Last year we were the muppets, before that we have done the Wizard of Oz, Smurfs, Peter Pan&friends and others. It is so much fun...but it is sooooo hot!I would definitely keep that in mind when choosing costume! I loved our muppets costumes last year, but they were soooo hot!:scared1:

Last MNSSHP I went to was with a group of friends in 2009, we all dressed up as Villains. I made replica Drizella and Anastasia costumes for my friend and I - it was a blast! I have pictures somewhere...

This year, another friend is going with me. We're going to the party on October 30 in replica Anna and Elsa costumes. I'm currently busy adding the embroidery designs to my bodice and skirt, and just got the last of all the amazing sparkly fabrics for the Elsa gown in!

DH and I will be Mr and Mrs Potato Heads:) So excited to just get to agree to dressing in something besides University of Kentucky fans. Got our costume here http://www.costumecraze.com/HUMR198.html We will both wear brown shirts, I plan on making my shirt more girly, and plan to change the hats (hubby says he is wearing a UK hat, hahahaha). So excited

Amy, your Ariel is darling and not too revealing - heavens you are the perfect age to wear something like that!

At 52, I'm not only covering my midriff, but also my shoulders, LOL.

When I was a mere slip of a girl, I would have worn that in a New York Minute!

It is still sooooo hot down there is Sept/Oct so we don't do costumes. We usually do matching t-shirts or head-gear. One year, we found a bunch of orange t-shirts that said "This IS My Costume" - got lots of comments on those. One year, we tie-dyed orange t-shirts with brown stripes so they looked like pumpkins then painted Mickey heads on the fronts. One year, we all wore "do-rags" (pirate rag things). A lot cooler than costumes and still fun!

Actually warm is good!Around here on Halloween it is usually cold so the heat can work for an Ariel costume or even a fariry costume. I love the orange t-shirt to look like pumpkins. That is very creative. If one was brave enough they could also use green hair spray in color on their hair as the stem,:thumbsup2

Love that idea! may have to check into that if I do not get brave enough to wear just the sea shell swim top.

I am hoping to hear the answer to this as well. I am trying to get brave enough to wear my swim top with sea shells that attach that I found on Etsy. I did already manage to find a skirt there that I liked and am in the process of having it made. I have not ordered the sea shells yet because I am not yet sure what I am going to do. too bad we were not going at the same time. Then at least we could be brave together LOL!!!!!
