Can I?

Mom and I are going to Artist Point next week. I looked at the menu online and I don't like any of the entrees. I don't eat meat. I looked at the child's menu and found a pasta dish I would eat. Will they let me? :confused3

I would ask them if you could have an "adult-sized" portion for an "adult price". I wonder if they would honor that request.

I don't think that you could get away with ordering a child's meal & paying a child's price though.

My wife used to order the child (4oz) filet at the Concourse Steakhouse with no problem. And we were only charged the menu price.

As long as you are not on DDP there is no problem.

I've heard of mixed results ordering from the Child's menu. It never hurts to ask, and as others have mentioned, if they won't serve a child's meal to you they will likely serve an adult portioned childs meal for a more 'adult' price.

Last time we went we were on the ddp and my wife wasn't hungry and my son was 2 (2 days before being 3) and she order a pizza from the kids menu for him. They said no problem and even brought out two kids meals :thumbsup2 This was at Liberty tree tavern.

At Akershus, a friend at our table ordered an adult size portion of a child's entree with no problem. Also, DM has, on occasion, ordered a child's meal. She's been allowed but this may be just because she is very elderly and the server is being kind.

If your concern is that you don't see a meat-free entree that appeals to you, call the restaurant directly and explain your dietary requests. Disney chefs are very accommodating. :thumbsup2

Good luck and have a great trip :)

As a vegetarian if I were going to ARtist's point I would let them know in advance I was vegetarian and ask if the chef can make something for me!

You would most likely get a special dish not on the menu that tasted great! How many people can say that they've had a dish specially prepared for them?

Honestly if during reservation time if they would tell me it's not possible to make something veggie other than the kid's meal I would book somewhere else.

Edit: Out of curiosity I checked the menu and they do have a vegetarian item on the menu so I guess that's not totally the issue. Sorry!

That vegetarian dish did not sound good to me.

I don't mind paying more for a pasta dish from the kid's menu that is an adult sized portion. The money is totally not an issue.

I just don't want to order something that I won't eat.

Responding to some of the other posts -- I plan on ordering an appetizer, soup and dessert. Mom already plans on ordering the pork chops. So it's not like we're trying to be cheap.

We're not against tipping based on service as opposed to tipping based on the size of the bill.

I would personally think it would benefit Disney to let an adult order a child's entree off of the menu in regards to the DDP. I can understand if they wouldn't let a child order off of the adult menu (due to a higher cost) but if an adult wants to order a child's entree - I'd personally say by all means, you're putting more money in their pocket! :rotfl:

Are you 9 and under? Then yes.
The question is "Adult wants to order from children's menu".

I would think that would not be a problem. They might serve you food from the child's menu and charge adult price, for an adult-size portion.

Artist Point is fairly flexible in what they can make for you. I am sure that they would serve you a full-sized portion of the penne and cheese (I assume that's what you are looking at?), probably for the price of the vegetarian entree.

By the way, you mentioned you plan to order soup and you said you don't eat meat--be aware that the mushroom soup, while absolutely delicious, is made with chicken stock.

Enjoy your dinner.

Well, I assume I could pick the chicken out. I love mushrooms!

If you call ahead they may be able to make you some soup with vegetarian broth rather than chicken broth. I know at Le Cellier they can make the cheese soup with a different broth with advance notice.

This seems strange you would think that it would be the other way around.
If you get a child's meal for an adult oop then Disney loses money.

If you use an adult credit to get a kids meal - Disney saves money...

Totally counter intuitive.

Why not?? I mean, really. Why in the world should it matter (especially in these times) if an adult orders a child's meal. Good heavens we all know that portions in this country are out of control. Why should Disney care who orders what as long as the meal is paid for. I am tiring so of people insinuating that you are doing something dreadful by ordering a child's meal as an adult. What difference does it make? And heaven forbid you actually do it to save money. Then you should feel ashamed, right?? Good grief! We all need a wake up call!

Haha, okay, breathe! :goodvibes

We eat at Artist Point almost every trip, and one of the main reasons is their excellent service. They are very accomodating, and I could definitely see them working with you to make sure you get something you would really enjoy.
