I hate buying expensive video games and then not liking them! Any suggestions for DS games for grown ups that involve thinking and not just shooting things? (Anything that requires more than 1 button or the stylus at a time is beyond me, the old Atari joysticks are my speed! :lmao:)

I recently acquired one of my kids old DS's and really liked the first Professor Layton game (2nd one not so great) and Brainage. Any others good ones out there so I have something to do on a long car trip?

Or, are there are any fun, simple games that me and my 3 kids can connect and play together? (Youngest 7 years)

TIA! :goodvibes

I like the hidden object games. The last one I played was Escape from the Museum. I have also played Mystery Case Files and Mystery PI.
Other games I enjoy are the Cake Mania, Diner Dash type games.

Just a suggestion, if you dont like buying games then hating them...you can try Gamefly..

Gamefly is like Netflix for games...The best part is they have DS game, and you can keep the games if you like for a decent cost. I am a member, and I get my DS, Wii and Xbox from there.

I love the BrainAge games, mostly for the sudoku. I also like Uno/Skipbo. I also have a separate sudoko game I like. I've gotten in kakuro lately. Anyone know of a good kakuro game?

I like puzzles and am totally addicted to Mahjong Quest. I have the game Quest Trio, which has on it Solitare, Mahjohg and Jewel Quest, and for 12.99 it's one of the better "cheap" games you can get.

Another one I really like is Rhythm Heaven. I find this one more addictive and not as easy to be interrupted during, but I can get lost for hours in it (ie my 3 hour flight seemed to be REALLY short when playing:lmao:).

Do they make Tetris for DS? If I remember from the older systems, it was only 2 buttons - one to turn the piece and one to drop it.

They did make Tetris for DS, but back when I was looking for it, it was out of print. So I ordered it used. :)

It's not strictly a game for adults, but I loved Scribblenauts. Lots of opportunity for fun, creative problem solving.

I have the Quest Trio, too. Very addictive!! Another one that I recently bought is Margot's Puzzles (or something like that). It has Crossword; Search-a-word; Sudoku; Kakuro; Numberjigs; and a few other types of puzzles. I love them!

I read reviews about Scribblenauts and split the cost for it with DD (13). She loved the game so much, I just got it to try myself this week. She has had it for close to a month. I am looking forward to playing it.

Some games that have not been mentioned that I enjoy are:

Picross DS (regular version, have not tried the 3D yet)
Wordjong
7 Wonders of the World

And even though I am a grown adult....I like playing Mario Kart, the New Super Mario Bro.....and most recently Style Savvy....along with the game that I am always playing: Animal Crossing Wild World. My dd7 also has Wild World and we visit each other's worlds and talk together.....not really a game though...more like a little town where you grow fruit, catch fish, find fossils...pull weeds that have grown, buy stuff for your house, ect....but it's my "I don't have to use my brain" game when I want to relax.

Cooking Mama, Animal Crossing, and Brain age.

I loved the Kingdom hearts for the DS, So fun and not to hard in easy mode. Plus it has lots of Disney Characters in it. The New Super Mario Brothers is so fun and again not to hard. The new Zelda games, Phantom Hour Glass and The Spirit Train are nice, lots of little puzzles and the battles are not too hard.

7 Wonders
Cradle of Rome
7 Wonders 2 should be out soon
Bejeweled Blitz
Peggle Dual Shot

Thanks for all of the great replies!! :goodvibes Now I need to go find some of them as good deals on Ebay or Amazon! Thanks!

Thanks, I just checked out the Gamefly site! That looks like it would be good to get before our trip, too, so we'd have a couple extra games to play. How fast is their shipping? Does it take long to get another one after you mail one back?

Professor Layton and the Curious Village
Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box
Mario,Mario,Mario:thumbsup2

Those are my faves
