Hello, everyone! This is my first post, so I hope it's okay that I'm starting a new thread. My sincere apologies to the moderators if it goes against protocol, but I didn't see any threads relating to my question.

I am getting married August 2nd and I have been growing my curly hair out long for the occasion. I am going to wear it half-up, so the length will still be evident in the pictures. However, I can't wait to get this stuff cut off when the event is over! There won't be time between the wedding and our arrival at Disney World, so I am considering getting it cut there, to better enjoy our honeymoon without worrying about my long hair, which can be quite unruly when exposed to the elements. :)

Is there any salon you would suggest? I don't want anything fancy, just to have it cut off to a little below my chin. I'd rather not have to make an appointment somewhere, and it'd be great to keep the cost under $20. I read about Harmony Barber Shop, but is it only for men? Most barber shops tend to cater to male clients.

I have had my haircut at the barber shop on Main Street in Magic Kingdom they did a good job it was $17.00. I was in need of a cut badly, you can't make an appointment but if you get there early the wait isn't too bad.

They will even put color streaks and confetti flakes in as an added bonus - where else can you be a kid!

Have a great wedding!!

Thanks, Tink! Just what I needed to hear. I think I'll take your advice and go with the confetti and color streaks-- I'm sure my new husband will just love that, ha ha! :)

I took my 2 yo dd for a haircut on Main Street. The confetti and color streaks were awesome. Her color streaks were red and white to match her custom Minnie outfit. My dd loved it so much she would let me wash her hair that night.

When we were waiting, there were "BIG KIDS" getting hair cuts and confetti in their hair. I would do it but with my current hair cut I'm scared to let someone other than my stylist cut my hair (reversed saggy bob). But I would go for the confetti and color streaks and pay $17.

I wouldn't go when they first open, it's always over an hour wait. Go around 11 AM or afterwards. Can't wait to see pics.

The Harmony Barber Shop does both men's and woman's haircuts. The cost for adults is $17.00. They are open 9:00 to 5:00 seven days a week even though the park hours may be more. They do not take reservations but I have never had to wait more than an hour (and it is my regular barber shop).

I admit I'm completely freaked at letting anyone cut my hair besides my stylist (she took so long to find! lol), but my D-SD gets his hair cut there everytime we go and they do a nice job and throw in the glittery confetti. Where else could a "man's man" get away with wearing bedazzled hair accessories?! Also, my uncle got his head shaved there, and they painted a purple Mickey on his bald head! :rotfl2:

You can definatley get a cut in the barbershop, Michael is fantastic!

but...

I would suggest making an appointment with Carmen over at the salon at the grand floridian resort. She is wonderful. Both hubby and I love to time our haircuts so we can visit her when we are at Disney.

Good to know, thanks everyone for the tips and recommendations.

I will be staying at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort this Thursday and reccomendations there? I am in desparte need of a hair cut!

Thanks bunches!:goodvibes

There are hair salons at the YC/BC, CSR and GF resorts, to the best of my knowledge.

Haven't tried any of them yet.
