Some tips about drinks at Disney...

1) Walk-around? Yes, Disneyland California Adventure serves Wine, Beer, Margaritas, Mad-T Party drinks in public. Which allows you to walk around the park with them.

2) The "Disney Pour" - Disney tells all bartenders to serve drinks with the minimum amount of alcohol. Don't mind asking for more than the Disney Pour, especially if your first seems a little weak. Stronger drinks are at the discretion and kindness of the one serving them. This is where being nice to the people servicing your drinks pays off. Be nice, tip well if you plan a comeback.

3) Where does this apply? All bars at Hotels, All restaurant at DTD, and inside the park.

Regarding 1. - Be aware while you can walk around with a yellow cup inside DCA, you cannot exit the park with that cup. They will stop you. *IF* you make it out of DCA with the cup and try to take it into DL, it will be confiscated by security.

2 & 3 - Disney pour is a myth. Drinks at Mad Tea Party might be light, but the same isn't true at Carthay Lounge, Hearthstone Lounge, Steakhouse 55 Lounge, or Trader Sams.

I tried to take a drink out of DCA to the Grand and was stopped. I was informed that they were under separate liquor licenses which was the reason I could not leave with the beverage. I just hung out and chatted with the CMs while I drank it.

To clarify, this kind sir is not a myth. Knowing a good bunch of the bartenders and being witness to their training on off-days, bartenders are "trained" to be careful with their pours. If you happen to get a stronger drink, it is at the discretion and kindness of the one serving it.

I've found the drinks at Sam's and Carthay to be nice and strong. Asking for more than the 'disney pour' would be asking for a double no?

I have never experienced the "Disney Pour"... at Mad T Party, I'm just friendly and in return, I get a friendly helping of liquor in my drink.

Simply suggesting kindness to the bartenders. Some will pour stronger ones out of the gate, unless you express rudeness on some level. I have been witness to a bartender measuring a pour after someone was inconsiderate.

Simple tip: Be kind, tip well.

ALL bartenders are trained to be cautious with pours. Alcohol inventory compared to sales is something that is watched carefully by every bar. Bar managers compare alcohol inventory to alcohol sales. And major differences are noted. Don't think your tip is going to cause them to say "I got a $5 tip, I am willing to risk my job for that!!" I only know about 10 Disney bartenders. None short pour. When I order my drink, I don't want it to be a short pour, but add to that, I don't want it to simply taste like booze. I enjoy ALL the flavors within the drink.

And since we are on the topic of drinks, what is everyone's favorite drinks at the parks? My fav is probably at Hearthstone or Steakhouse, the Fireball Cocktail. At Carthay, I really like the Black Pearl. Also, if you are looking for something different, ask the bartenders if they have a specialty. One of my favorite bartenders at CCR makes what he calls a "Scooby Snack". Really good. Last trip, my oldest daughter couldn't drink alcohol due to pain med issues. So she asked one of our favorite bartenders to make her a non-alcoholic drink that was unique. She got a lavender lemonade. It was SOOOOOO good.

My three favorite drinks to enjoy at Disneyland are:

Kate and Ella at Napa Rose

Double Pear Martini at Carthay Circle

The Blue drink you can get at WCT, various lounges at the onsite hotels and I think at Cove Bar. Not sure what it is called but it is blue, fruity and yummy!

My husband swears that Disney bartenders must go through some kind of rigorous training when it comes to Long Island Iced Teas. Whether it's in DCA or the hotels, he finds that they are always consistently excellent, making it his favorite drink while at the resort. I will drink anything

Wife loves the Black Pearl and Micky's Funwheel (hidden drink you can order at cove bar). I'm not much of a fruity drink person and can't stand most citrus drinks like Pineapple juice, so I stick to the more traditional drinks. Long Islands, Captain & Diet, Jack & Diet, Scotch served Neat or Crown if we are doing dessert at Steakhouse or Carthay, Margarita's, etc.
