It must be getting close...

This is on the Dining FAQ page right now!

Are reservations available at Walt Disney World Resort restaurants?

Yes, reservations are available-and highly recommended-at many Walt Disney World Resort restaurants. You may make reservations online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE or (407) 939-3463. Guests under age 18 must have parent or guardian permission to call. It is recommended that you arrive at restaurants 5 minutes prior to your seating time. You will be seated at the next available table that can accommodate your party.

Right now, the "make reservations online" is a link that just reroutes back to the same page you're already on. But that must mean it's on its way soon, right?
oohhh..........that's so exciting! :cheer2:

Are we really excited about such a big change right ahead of the free dining people (myself included!) overwhelming the system???? It appears that just about the time they get the kinks worked out with the new phone system, they are about to unleash a whole new system. Am I the only one a little wary of it???????

I guess I am just excited because my trip is the end of May, and although I have already made most of my ressies there are still a few I am trying for and I would much rather be able to check a website than to have to call Disney every day and waste time on the phone and on hold. :confused3

I guess I just have a little different perspective since I can't make a single ADR until late June. One computer crash on the wrong morning could really wreck havoc on our trip!

Portobello at DTD is not on the regular or Deluxe DDP -- they're calling it "signature dining" to distinguish it as a fancier restaurant. I believe the only way you can get it on a dining plan is if you have purchased the Platinum Plan.
Thank you catne!

The phone system is all messed up now. I am the poster that was told to call 100 days out. I called JIC and the system says to make reservations up to and including Aug 1. which is 100 days from today. Called twice and both CM's knew nothing about it and refused to check. They said if you're not 90 days out they won't even try. Only booking until July 22nd. Message clearly stated Aug. 1st. And the last CM wouldn't even hang up so that I could take the survey. I wouldn't have said anything bad about her, just wanted to make sure higher ups knew about the discrepancy.
Oh well. Hopefully they will get his worked out soon. The website is really messed up as well right now. Guess it's due to all the changes.
Good luck everyone!

I'm not sure why you were told to call for your ARDs at 100 days - that's not correct. You can call 90 days before your reservation and make ADRs for up to 10 days. Yes, they are taking reservations on 8/1 for some people: those who start their vacation on 7/22 and will still be there on 8/1. If your first day of your vacation is 8/01, then your ADR call in day is 5/3. I know it can be a bit confusing, so try using this calculator to help you figure out your call in dates:

I actually had a CM tell me 100 days and the date. And the phone system does not mention 90 day, just that you can book until Aug 1st.
I knew that I prob wouldn't be able to make them, was just venting about the mis-information.:) Plus I'm sure he gave out the information to many other people.

Actually, yes it does. I'm listening to it now. "Reservations for our dining locations are currently available up to 90 days in advance." This is said AFTER the May 26-August 1 part. Sometimes it skips that if you call in at a time when there is no queue. But they do say it.

I'm glad it's there now. It definitely wasn't, I would have hung up then. That's why I called back. And you are right, there was no queue, both times.
As for my CM at booking, I hope someone eventually informed him. I was skeptical in the first place. Just didn't want to miss a chance at O'hana on the 1st if they were taking the ADRs.
Hopefully it will be open in 9 days:goodvibes...maybe even with online booking;)

Just to be clear (not to argue semantics with you because your experience clearly was what it was, and your experience was not helpful to you in giving you the best information available.... just trying to make sure people who read this get the most accurate information): that part of the recording - "Reservations at our dining locations are available up to 90 days in advance..." - IS there every time. It's been on the spiel since forever, including the past 20 times I've called just this year to make/change ADRs for our upcoming trip. I guess what I'm saying is that they DIDN'T just add it yesterday when I posted that. You hear it when you are in the queue for a CM to answer. If there is no queue, it skips that part.

If I were you, I'd send an email to Disney about this. Their prerecordings are only helpful if people get to hear them. I've had some trouble with the voice system at times, and when it thinks I'm not talking (though I clearly, and loudly, am), it skips all the "Have you visited before? Are you calling about V&A's? Are you in the Orlando area?" questions and goes right to "Please continue to hold on the line. Someone will be with you shortly" message. Not always helpful in communicating to guests what can be accomplished by calling in....

How can it be "there every time" if "If there is no queue, it skips that part."?:)
But seriously this is not worth arguing about.
I'm just going to look ahead to booking my ADR's.

I'm not attempting to argue, but I will say this. It CAN be there in the recording every time, even if it skips the queue. Disney - and the CMs at 407-WDW-DINE - cannot control if there is a queue or not, and they also have no control over when you call. I'm not saying it's a perfect system, and I'm not saying it benefited you (as I pointed out above). Again, I'm just trying to help people less informed than you and I, or who haven't called in yet like you and I have, be informed to the greatest degree possible. I can't explain why it sometimes skips it; I don't really get that and it seems counterproductive to being informative.

In my experience I heard it (and have heard it probably 17 out of the 20 times I've called), and in yours, you did not. And I understand that it isn't helpful if you only call in that one time, and that one time happens to be when there is no queue and you do not hear the recording. But like I said, Disney can't control when you call. And they can't fix it if they don't know about it. It's not bothersome to me - just a discrepancy I can live with - but clearly it inconvenienced you. I'm not defending it - just trying to be informative. You weren't jumping down my throat, and I'm not jumping down yours. We're all friends here. :grouphug:

My suggestion to email them about the misinformation and the queue recording was intended to be helpful since, while good for venting, it doesn't acheive your goal that they better inform the CMs if you just tell us here about your experience. If you called back, perhaps you would hear it. I don't know. In any event, I ain't hatin'. :flower3:

:lmao: :lmao:

I wonder every day, several times a day, why no one seems to check the "UPDATE". Maybe you should revise the title to "ADR System Updates-- PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE YOU ASK ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT WHEN YOU CAN BOOK!" and put it it big red letters.

I made sure I did this..this time so no one would laugh at me. lol

Not too sure, but I may have gotten one step further than you!! When I clicked on the "Book Now" link, it took me to a search page where you type in the name of the restaurant you want to book. I typed in Whispering Canyon Cafe, and it brought me to the restaurant's home page where it listed details about the place and included menus as well. Under the "Reservation" section, it listed the telephone number - but if it's gotten this far, then I'm sure we'll see a link there pretty soon!!!

When I clicked the link it took me to the FAQ....werid:confused3
