ADR System Upgrade - History

The CM I spoke to today was a group dining CM and she made no reference to January whatsoever. The only January references that I have heard is that January is the new anticipated completion date for the upgrade. Hopefully, they will open a new window for a few more weeks soon!

The only worrisome side to this is that the closer we get to our trip dates, it isn't only Disers who are calling. People who don't know to call 6 months out will call 1 month out and those March folks will have a battle.

I will say that anyone making plans for 12 or more should call group dining because I had no problem getting through immediately! The only computer was the one asking me to stay on the line for a quick survey (which I now realize I forgot to do in my rush to update fellow Disers and get ready for work) oops!

Keep those fingers crossed everyone that the march through may windows open soon!

yes, this is my worry at this point. If I had been able to make ADRs at 6 months out, I am confident there would have been relatively few other people calling. Now, however, I am at 3 1/2 months and more and more people will be ready to call for those same dates the closer those dates get!:scared:

Bret's answers was basically to rely on other boardd and threads like this for information!! Even he doesn't rely on the Mom's panel!!!!

Im just ready to finally make them, then i wont feel pressured everyday about when i can make them!! :sad2:

This is getting ridiculous. I understand they can't give a specific date, but maybe they could instruct the CRO to STOP giving dates?? It only frustrates even more.

Ok will it be best for me to call disney dining or call DVC abd book my dining through them.

Disney dining opens at 7:00AM and MS opens at 9:00AM. However, depending on how long you're on the phone, with MS you use an 800 number. I'm waiting to see if I get my early May ADRs. If I don't get the ADRs I want, I don't plan to buy the DDP--if I get what I want, then I will.

So would I have a better shot at ADR's calling disney dining directly? I'm with you, if I can't get my ADR's, I'm skipping the dining plan. Can you post the ph # to disney dining?

This is my worry too. Now I know that there are some ADRs that I know I will be able to get no problems, but then there are others that I am kind of worried that people other than those planning this trip for 6 months or more are going to get before I can. Plus we are going smack dab in the middle of Spring Break so I am a little bit more antsier in getting all of my ADRs squared away.....This is SOOOOOOO frustrating!!!!!!!!!!:headache:

with a very nice CM at Disney Dining.

I called to check on availability for making ADRs for our mid-April trip. I was told the launch date was mid-January, but no final date has been given. I asked if there was a chance they would extend the current window as they did before when they missed the original launch date. She said they have said nothing about expanding the window, and that they do not even anticipate knowing the launch date until January 1, 2009. She strongly suggested I call January 1st and that I would NOT be able to make reservations that day, but felt that they would be able to tell me the date that I would be able to make them then.

When I asked about the December 21st date I was given before, she said that no date was EVER given to the CMs and that if anyone told you that, it was a guess based on the second projection of "Third week of December" that was projected after the first date was missed.

She said with the Holidays, she honestly did not anticipate that they would extend the current window, and that it has not even been hinted at to the CMs.

Blech! :crazy2:

Wow so I made my Chef Mickey ressie for our May 29-June 6 2009 trip yesterday. :goodvibes

DH heard me and was overjoyed, we did this breakfast in 05 and he has been asking to go back ever since.:rotfl2:

1 out of 8, I am doing good!!!;)

I feel for you late March and April peeps not being able to get yor ADR's yet.:scared1: :sad2:

The waiting to make my April ADR's is getting old.....:rolleyes1 Hopefully they will open up the window until AT LEAST the end of April soon!!!!!!! :flower3:

I am definitely freaking about not being able to make my ADR's for March 30 through April 3. I am one of those planners and always do this well over 190 days ahead of time. Ugh!

Luckily, I am pretty flexible on my ADRs. We are not on the dining plan and I could easily switch around times or another restaurant on my list. I only need 4 or 5 ressies for my 7 day visit at the end of April. The only ressie I am worried about is my Fantasmic package. Since there are so few shows, I know they will book up quickly.

Not for nothing, if it really is a problem with their new dining software or what have you, then why wouldent they keep the old program running until the new one is free of problems so they may train cm's and launch it properly? It is poss. to write a software program that transfers Adr's from the old program to the new one.

That's exactly what will happen. The old system will keep running when the new system goes online. We will be working with 2 systems until all the reservations that are made in the old system have taken place. No reservations will transfer to the new system. The only reservations that will go in the new system are those made using the new system. Make sense?

Clear as mud DisneyDine!:rotfl: , sorry, I just had to say that! You do realize that those of us going past March 22 are hanging on your every word!:worship: Thanks for the info!

Disneydine, you are truly a gift to these boards. I look forward to seeing that you have a new post on this thread because I feel like we're getting closer to knowing what's going on.

While I understand what will happen with the transfer (2 systems), what I don't understand is why Disney wouldn't just keep the old system running as usual until the new one was in place. So, keep the 180 window open on the old system, we book through May now (I think) and come January, they start booking on the new system and only use the old system to keep track of the existing reservations. It just seems that Disney could have kept a whole lot of customers happier that way. But, I'm sure there's a method to their "madness". I'm sure the CM's are frustrated by this as well!

Thanks again for all your info. Happy Holidays!

why they don't want to expand the window again. The longer they expand the date on the current system, the longer that they have to work with two systems. I feel for you guys who work in Dining reservations right now. It must make for some very long days, dealing with fustrated callers who can't make their reservations. Plus you KNOW that they are going to be calling back at some point and that if they can't get what they want then, it's going to be ugly! I wish you all the best during the transition! Thanks for taking the time to keep us in the know!
