Hi there -

We are going to WDW the end of June. There is a 50/50 possibility of another couple and their kids joining us for dinner one evening but we won't know for sure until the day before.

We have 6 days worth of TS credits for our family. I currently have six restaurants already booked for all the days. However, if this other family ends up joining was the one night it would be at a different restaurant at one of the hotels.

Can I go ahead and book a 7th TS for our family where we would have two scheduled for the one day in question....and if so, how long can I hold the reservations on both restaurants before I get charged? I'd like to be able to hold up until the day before...but of course I know it's tying up a reservation at both restaurants that someone else may be trying to get booked.

I don't believe the system will now let you schedule two concurrent restaurant reservations within an hour and a half of each other. Otherwise, yes you can. If the restaurants did not require a credit card hold it doesn't matter when you cancel them. You may get a lot of other poster's opinions on the etiquette of booking concurrent reservations; this response is only on what the Disney system will allow you to do.

Very few restaurants charge in advance and penalize you for no-shows. So make your 7th reservation at a restaurant that does not charge and you can keep that reservation right up to the time of the meal. It is always best to call and cancel once you know that you won't be there. But as long as you are not booking at a penalizing restaurant, there is no obligation that you do so. Others can add to the list, but the restaurants that penalize no-shows include:
California Grill
Cinderella's Castle
Victoria & Albert's
Dinner shows (I think), like Hoop Dee Doo and Luau

The way around this is to not log in to the system under your own user name. Make the reservation under the name of someone else in your group, or call WDW-DINE and you will be fine. But please...if you double book, cancel your unwanted reservation as soon as you know that it won't be used.

I was gonna suggest the same thing. Just login under a different user for the other ressie. Simple!!
