ADR problem

I'm a solo traveler. I'm trying to book an ADR for Trail's End. It won't give me any availability on any day or time for 1 person. For 2 people, there's tons of open slots. Now, I know they don't have tables for just one person, and that I'd be seated at a 2 person table. Would I have problems if I booked for 2 when it's just me? It doesn't seem fair that a singleton can't book a table at this restaurant.

I'd book for two and when you arrive, just tell them you will be dining solo. We have had one guest cancel on us before and had no prob.

Go ahead and book a table for 2. it's a known quirk that the reservation system has a harder time "finding" tables for odd numbered groups because the system wants to fill every seat at the tables and at the restaurants most tables are designed for even numbers (2 top, 4 top, etc) so a solo diner has a harder time getting reservations. When you arrive at the restaurant just let the castmembers at the podium know that you are a solo diner. As long as you show up you will not be charged for the "missing" diner.

Supposedly, they see the same thing we do as the reservation system is all the same.

Booking a table for 2 will be okay. The smallest tables in the restaurants are 2-tops, which is where they will put you. You will not be taking a seat from anybody.

I travel solo often and have learned to net even search for tables for 1. I always book for 2 because it shows the availability. 1 or 2 get the same size table, so it's not like you are taking anything from anyone else. Booking for 2 and showing up with 1 has never been a problem.

I've almost always had to book for 2 as well, I have called and managed to get it changed to one after it was booked but don't usually bother. The only difference is if you've booked for one, most of the time there will be only one set up at the table but otherwise, I can't remember seeing a one top in any of the restaurants.

With the new online options you could try modifying it yourself to 1 but I wouldn't worry about it. I did the same thing for a couple solo meals on my last solo trip.

I have to do the same thing for 'Ohana. It is kinda annoying - like they WANT to discriminate against solo travelers, but I want to do breakfast there, so I will deal.

I think that when I do my ADRs on Saturday I will just do 2 all around since like @winthropf said, it's not like there are solo tables - one less thing to change going from day to day or mealtime to mealtime.
