We are headed down to the world in 4 1/2 weeks. First time on site, first time dining plan.

Here are the ADR's as of now:

Raglan Road - dinner

Ohana - dinner

Le Cellier - lunch

50's - lunch
Sanaa - dinner

Yak n Yeti - lunch

Mama Melrose - F! dinner pkg

Le Chefs - dinner

I know I have more adr's than credits, but we are going to buy DS10 a kids meal OOP on more than one occasion. I also don't mind OOP for an additional meal.

Problem is, I really wanted to try the following:

San Angel Inn (we love Mexico and the atmosphere is so coool in there)
Kouzzina (whole fish)
Tokyo Dining (sushi for me and tempura for dh and ds's)
Kona Cafe (tuna oscar looks delish)

Do you think any of my choices should be cancelled for one of these? In () are my main reasons for wanting to go there.

Decisions, decisions....LOL

FWIW, I was VERY disappointed in the Tuna Oscar, after drooling over the menu and pics. Not nearly enough seasoning and really no crab in the small bits of fried dough......I would change for it.

Loved Raglan on our Dec trip. It will be a "must do" in the future.
Le Cel provided two fantastic lunches..definately a keeper.
Sanaa is IMO one of the most over-looked restaurants. The food is truly unique and was one of the best meals we've had on property.
50's PTC is a "must do" every trip. Love the atmosphere and we've never had a bad meal.
We've never done Ohana, Y&Y, MM or Chefs..so can't comment. I will say the checkin for Ohana was insane the night we were at Kona and it really didn't make me want to join them...ever! :lmao:

Good luck in your choices....

We have eaten at all of the places you are going for dinner and we enjoy them all. I would drop Mama Melrose for Kona but since you have the Fantasmic dinner package that probably isn't an option.

As for eating in Mexico take the 3 Amigos boat ride and enjoy your quick ride past the restaurant.:rotfl2: Unfortunately something has to go.

The only one I would drop is Raglan Road. We've eaten there twice & didn't like our meals either time. Many people love it though. It just isn't for us. That's really the only one that we actually had bad meals at.

We weren't impressed with Ohana, but that has been years ago. I wouldn't recommend you drop it, because you'll always wonder if that was a mistake. Reading these boards makes it hard not to jump on the Ohana bandwagon. ;)

We haven't tried MM, 50's, or Y&Y, so I don't have any opinion on those.

Opinions on ones I've been to:
Le Cellier lunch - very yummy this last trip. Filet with sauce is excellent. Duck meatballs not bad. Cheese soup ok, too much beer for me. :) Chocolate mousse pretty decent. Maple creme brulee decent.
50's PT - haven't been in ages, but don't like the atmosphere there.
Le Chefs dinner - rushed meal, food was either too salty or too bland. Very weird mix.

Ohana for dinner will probably be tried on our next trip, so I'd say thumbs up for that one.

Finally, San Angel atmosphere is lovely. I haven't tried their revamped menu yet, but did not care for the old food. We like La Hac better.
And just to throw it in, we LOVE Kona Cafe for breakfast, but haven't been for dinner.

I would switch San Angel Inn to La Hacienda de San Angel because the food is great but the main reason is because of Illuminations. At La Hacinda, if you get an ADR a few min before Illuminations starts...you can request a window seat and watch it from your table. This has been a highlight our last two trips and we're doing it again in Feb.

Also, I've been to WDW about 10 times and Mama Melrose may have been my least favorite TS meal.

I'd also HIGHLY suggest Boma at AKL. It's fantastic.

I try to post whenever I see this . . . just to give a counterpoint to PP. I do not think you can/should count on La Hacienda to see Illuminations. Nor can you always have good luck requesting a window seat and getting it. B/c everyone requests the same thing. I know some have good luck and some don't. We had terrible luck and only a partial view. Long story that I posted several times last year. Anyway, if it's your only chance to see Illuminations, don't plan it for La Hac. Just a word of caution!

I understand what you're saying...but I've been twice and sat by the window both times. Personally....I think the trick is to make your ADR an hour before Illuminations starts. When you get there, if there isn't a window seat available...just tell them you'd like to wait for a table to open up. Again, like you said there are no guarantees but it's worked for me twice.

No, I know, and I hear you. Plenty of folks have had good luck, but there are a few of us who are a little soured. Our ADR was 1 hour ahead of time. We asked both the inside and outside CM for, not even a window seat, but just a view of Illuminations. The couple who checked in after us went up to the inside CM and said, I just heard we can see the fireworks from here? Is that true? (I didn't hear the CM's response.)

Anyway, we were shown to our table shortly. There were 2 empty 2 seaters in that portion of the room, 1 with a view, 1 w/o. (Neither flush to the window.) She brought us to the no view, and I asked if we couldn't have the other one please? She said sorry, the other party was already on their way. (The couple after us.) I didn't see what the big deal was about letting us have the table with a view . . . if for no other reason than b/c if it was truly 1st come, 1st served, we had checked in and asked first. Anyway, we've seen Illuminations a bunch, so it didn't make or break our experience, but it was just frustrating at the time. :)

I believe you have some EXCELLENT Choices on there ! and very well thought out...
Raglan Road is very well reputed... I hope to try it in May
"Ohana... we've had breakfast there 4 times but would LOVE to try the dinner
Le Cellier... I tried in May 2010 and LOVED IT a new favorite and ressies already in place for May 2012
50's...... we ended up with a last minute ressie for this May 2010 and the POT ROAST OMG... was my Fav meal of the day... overshadowed HBD! would prefer 50's to HBD will hope to change that with the next visit.. we'll see.
Sanaa- never been
Yak & Yeti... LOVED it... make a comparison to PF Changs.... made ressies to go back May 2012....
Mama Melrose F! Dining pkg I have ressies for in May..

Have a Magical visit !
Mary

Thanks, everyone!!!

Doesn't look like I picked any total "no-no's"! I guess reading reviews and menus all those night paid off...LOL

I'll skip Tokyo dining. While I do LOVE sushi, I have several good ones that actually will even deliver to my house, so I can have it anytime.

San Angel Inn - hopefully another trip to Mexico will happen later this year! I'll grab a nice margarita on the rocks and walk around just to soak it in!

Kona - going there just for one entree which might not be so great isn't worth the change.

Kouzzina - aaahhh! this one I still want, but doesn't look like we'll be able to fit it in. Oh well! I'll just have to go to a local Greek place for my whole fish fix!

I actually had a 8:15 ressie at Hacienda a while ago, but after reading about the lack of window seats... I cancelled.

'Ohana- seems like a must do on here. We've never been to any of resorts, so checking out the Poly will be fun.

Mama Melrose F! pkg - We'll be there at a busy time (presidents day) so I know my DH wouldn't want to wait on long lines. We saw the show many years ago and they boys do not remember it at all...they were only 2 and 4.

Thanks, again!!! Looking forward to our trip!!!!!!!!!!

Here are the ADR's as of now:

Raglan Road - dinner - We love Ragland Road. The entertainment is awesome and the food is good.

Ohana - dinner - I liked it, DH didn't. DS would only eat the shrimp and I spent the majority of my time peeling it for him. The fireworks were great though.

Le Cellier - lunch - It would not be a trip to DW without Le Cellier if you asked my husband. It is his absolute favorite. DS loved the moose dessert.

50's - lunch Have not been. Mixed reviews. DS would freak out if the staff tried to interact with him, so we don't dare go.

Sanaa - dinner On our list to try in the future.

Yak n Yeti - lunch Also on our list to try in the future. As in this Thanksgiving.

Mama Melrose - F! dinner pkg We love MM. People say horrible things about it sometimes, but we have been 3 tiimes and have no complaints. And not having to get to Fantasmic 1 1/2 hours in advance is totally worth it.

Le Chefs - dinner Never been, but maybe some day. Very cheesy dishes, kind of heavy food. Not sure if DS would find anything to eat.

I know I have more adr's than credits, but we are going to buy DS10 a kids meal OOP on more than one occasion. I also don't mind OOP for an additional meal.

Problem is, I really wanted to try the following:

San Angel Inn (we love Mexico and the atmosphere is so coool in there)Go in and just have chips & salsa and a margarita. That way you get the atmosphere and don't kill a whole credit.
Kouzzina (whole fish)
Tokyo Dining (sushi for me and tempura for dh and ds's)
Kona Cafe (tuna oscar looks delish)We go at breakfast for Tonga Toast. Yum. Not so expensive if you go OOP.

Do you think any of my choices should be cancelled for one of these? In () are my main reasons for wanting to go there. - I wouldn't cancel. I would consider going OOP and not ordering a whole meal. Check prices at allears.net on their menus and see what you can do to minimize costs.

Decisions, decisions....LOL

Regardless of what you decide, sounds like you will have a yummy trip.:cutie:
