I'm able to book my ADRS tomorrow and I was wondering how long a typical character lunch/dinner will last? Would it be an hour to an hour and a half?
They are usually an hour. They try to get the characters around the restaurant every 45 minutes to an hour. Quicker they can get you out the sooner they can seat someone else![]()
do you have a car or use disney transportation ? in any event 90 minutes should be enough. But you will have quite a way to walk to Garden Grill. but check with your concierge, there might not even be a bus at 5:30. Ask them when you're there and they'll tell you about the earliest bus. between 5:30 and 6 should be more than enough now, about character meal duration, it all depends on how busy it is, and on the time of day. The longest character meal we had was at Chef Mickey's, where Mickey only showed up 55 minutes after we had finished our meal (for a grand total of 2 hours and 10 minutes from the time we were seated. (I must have had 5 extra dessert plates to compensate)
Thanks for sharing that as we are doing O'hana one evening, and Chef Mickeys one morning. So that's good to know about needing extra time for resort ADRsOn the disney website it says if using disney transportation to allow up to 1.5 hours. I don't worry so much about park ADRs but other resorts are some times harder. If you have a reservation at say the grand Floridian you need to allow time getting from your resort to MK then getting from MK to the grand Floridian . Which normally is fine but on one morning we arrived at the bus stop MK bus was waiting got straight on straight to MK to find the boats weren't operating due to the fog and the monorail was down due to technical difficulties. There isn't a bus usually from MK to the grand Floridian so we had to go to the transportation office for them to arrange a bus only for it to also stop at the contemporary, the transportation ticket centre, the Polynesian and then finally the grand Floridian. It took 1 hour 40 minutes from leaving our room to getting to the restaurant. So for long story just thought I would share a worse case scenario lol.
Lol thanks.
Say I had an ADR at 7pm for Garden Grill at Epcot, what time should I leave my resort at (CSR). Do you think 5.30 would be plenty of time?
5.30 will be plenty of time - buses run every 20 minutes roughly and the ride time from CSR to Epcot is only 10 minutes. This gives you an hour spare in case of delays and time to get into the park and walk to the restaurant![]()
Thank you! Are all of the restaurants well sign posted? I'm having visions of not being able to find anything lol x
They are signed at the restaurants but not necessarily signed well to get there. Garden Grill is on the upper level in the land pavilion so that should be easy enough for you to find. If you can't find anything just ask the nearest CM![]()

What time is your Chef Mickey reservation? We have always had ressies around 8am. If it is not an Extra Magic Hour morning at Magic Kingdom, ask the bus driver if he can drop you at The Contemporary. He will radio control and ask permission then drop you after he drops guests at Magic Kingdom.
It's at 8.30am, what time do the buses begin leaving the resorts? X
I think around 7am
I think around 7am
So for an 8.05am reservation at CRT in Magic Kingdom, do you think it would be safer for us to take a taxi?
Yes. When getting a taxi though they can drop you at a resort or TTC. We always choose Contemporary then walk. X
