Nervous I made a mistake.

Decided not to keep Biergarten as we will be 3 adults, 6 kids, 1 infant, and that means one or two of us will have to sit with strangers.

So I got Coral Reef for a table of 6 and a table of 4.

Never been, and I hear mixed reviews. Is it as awful as they say?
Is it hard to seat a big group together?
Is it too fancy for kids?

The menu looked kind of tasty. As long as there is a steak, dh is happy.

We are doing A LOT of buffets, so I thought another menu TS would be nice.

Calm my fears!

We loved Coral Reef last August. The NY strip was delicious! DD was 4 and she also enjoyed it.

We'll be at POP the same time as you! I decided on my ADR's today, but I haven't called yet. I asked DD5 for her input and she wants to go to Coral Reef again, and we'll be taking my parents and sister this time.

Cool! Stop and say hi if you see us. We'll have 9 kids in our group from 9/16-9/22, and 7 kids from 9/22-9/27. If you see a big group of kids, that's probably us! LOL

My bestfriend had a bad experience at Coral Reef, and I had forgotten about it until I was telling her my ADRs. Sigh.
But, she also had a bad experience at Le Cellier, and we loved that, so who knows.

Everyone has good and bad experiences at every place in WDW. Its hard to decide where to go if you listen to it all. If you like the menu then I would give it a try.
That being said Coral Reef was one of my worst meals last time. Our server was super bad ( we complained to management about her) and the food was just barely edible and left my friend with severe gastric distress:eek:. Dessert was good though and on the upside I think we know where EVERY potty is in Epcot now.
It is a beautiful place and kids love the fish so you can't go wrong there. My DD went " wow" when we walked in and had a great time looking for fish.
Whatever you choose I am sure you will have a great time!

We have been to Coral Reef two times in the past year and had a good experience both times;food was good, had the steak both times-great. Atmosphere was great, the kids loved being able to watch the fish.Service was good, but the second time we went it was very crowded and our waiter was not as attentive as our first experience. Bottom line, everyone's experience is different but it is Disney so how bad could it be.Have a great time.

Coral Reef was our favorite meal during our last visit! We have ADRs to eat there again in September. I had the "Pan-seared Ahi Tuna with wasabi mashed potatoes and soy glaze" and though it was absolutely fabulous. My kids (ages 6 & 10) had the lobster soup as an appetizer, and I was a little skeptical as to whether they were going to like it. But they LOVED it....ate every drop! They also really enjoyed watching the sea life in the aquarium while we waited for our meals. We thought it was great! Our biggest problem was the group of ladies eating at the table beside us (appeared to be a grandmother, mother, daughter trio). They complained about EVERYTHING! I felt badly for our waiter. But he did everything he could to make them happy.

I've never been to Biergarten, but I would recommend Coral Reef whole-heartedly. If you could get a seat by the aquarium, it might be nice so all your kidos can have a really good view to keep them occupied. I think it's a great choice!

Oh, yeah.....almost forgot the best part....the Chocolate Wave is "to die for" good!!!!!!!!

We've had a party of 11 at Biergarten before and we were all at the same table. Some of the tables I believe seat 10, and we put one person on the end, no problem.

The atmosphere at Coral Reef is great - the kids will love it.

I am not fond of either restaurant (I don't like fish OR German food), but since my husband likes fish AND was born in Germany, we have eaten at both.

I would say that I liked them both about the same.

Oh brother. Of course the CMs on the phone don't tell you that. :confused3

Good info for next time I guess. Thanks!

Of course not! I can't remember, but I'm thinking I asked at the time I made our ADRs if we would be seated together, because I asked that for all of them. Some places they couldn't guarantee it, but most of the time they were able to put us together or at least side by side. It can be challenging planning for such a large group!

Go and relax in your choice. We had our best meal of the trip here! The tanks kept DD busy during the whole meal which is a feat in itself! It was fun to watch the sharks swim by and the food was wonderful!

We cannot wait to go back in October, it was the only one DD and Dh both wanted to go to.

Well, I made my ADR's this morning and got Coral Reef for dinner on 9/20! We ate at Biergarten in December and loved it, and if we could do another meal at Epcot, that's what I would choose. But with DD5, we have to go to Akershus to see the princesses, so we're going there on 9/22 and don't have any other Epcot days planned.

Coral Reef is one of my favorite restaurants, and I don't even like seafood!! Your DH will love the steak, it is delicious. The atmosphere is beautiful and it just really relaxing to eat there. They also have really good pineapple upside down cake!! :thumbsup2

I think you made the right choice! Especially since the Biergarten is a buffet and you have children in your party.
