ADR Changers - We still don't know what we want for dinner!

I decided to make them for 10 am. They are both park AM EMH days, I'll get 2 hours of good touring seeing headliners, then a break for brunch.

I'm sorry, you did say 10am in your original post. That's what I get for trying to read & listen to a 3 year old at the same time. :lmao:

I would either keep the 10am ADRs. I do think they could work since there are morning EMH's. But, if you're not sure, another option is to move Tusker to lunch & Akershus to lunch or dinner.

Ok I officially changed my ADR's. After seeing the thread to call T-Rex directly to get a ressie at a decent time, I was able to change it alittle. Really just switch, DH and I decided to cancel Cape May on Wednesday and do T-Rex instead at 6:30pm. Then Friday Night, the Garden Grove. Now we have 1 more ADR to make to replace Cape May. Any suggestions? See my new plan below:

Sunday: arrive at Disney around 8pm (we are driving). Hang out at the hotel and get settled in.

Monday: AM EMH at AK, leave before parade (we've seen it). Hotel time. Dinner at 50's Prime Time (1st time) at HS, then stay for PM EMH at HS till kids are ready to go.

Tuesday: Relax most of the day or due a couple hours at MK, then head to Epcot. Dinner at Akershus (1st time) with the Princesses. Then stay for EMH at Epcot.

Wednesday: Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare (1st time), then go to MK. Head back in the late afternoon for naps. Dinner at T-Rex (1st time), then shopping at DTD.

Thursday: Possibly go to HS or MK, most likely HS to go to Toy Story and DD loves watching the Disney Channel Rocks show. Afternoon at the hotel. Dinner at Chef Mickey's(repeat). Maybe go to MK afterwards for fireworks.

Friday: This will be a relaxing day for us, maybe do some park time in the AM. Dinner at Garden Grove. Most likely head back to hotel.

Saturday: Breakfast at Kona. (ADR made, but may or may not cancel). Driving back home.

Looks really good! :thumbsup2

Let me ask you this....where are y'all staying? I ask because I was trying to think of some suggestions for 1 more ADR. What about a breakfast ADR on either the Monday, Tuesday or Friday. You could maybe even do breakfast at Cape May. Or Crystal Palace, OHana or Tusker House. :confused3

We are most likely staying at Pop. I say most likely cause it hasn't been booked yet. We are waiting for August Room Rate discounts to be released for AP or FL Residents. If we don't stay at Pop it will be ASmo, unless we come across a deal for a moderate that we can't pass up. But We are banking on a Value Resort.

I think we want to do another character meal. We've never done Ohana, so breakfast may be an option. Have you ever been? These are the character meals we've done in past.

Crystal Palace -Breakfast 2x , Dinner 2x
Chef Mickey's - Breakfast 1x , Dinner 1x (will be 2x with this trip)
Cape May Breakfast 1x
Tusker house Lunch 1x (DD did not eat anything there-a chef made her something special so she would eat)
1900 Parke Fare breakfast (will be 1st time this trip)
Akershus dinner (1st time as well this trip)

How about H & V at HS for breakfast? Do you know about that one?

We haven't done Ohana or H&V but intend on doing both of those on our next trip. I've heard a lot of good things about the character breakfast at Ohana. As for H&V, I've heard breakfast is better than lunch. But, I know we're going to be doing the mad dash to TSM so I think we're going to just book it for lunch that day. So, at Ohana you'd have Mickey, Pluto, Lilo & Stitch. But, y'all will be seeing Mickey & Pluto at Chef Mickey's. And at H&V, you'd have Oso, Manny, Jake - and maybe June from Little Einsteins (I can't remember if she's still there or not). Is there a certain set of characters out of those 2 restaurants that your kids would prefer?

my ds has no preference since he is young. my dd likes them all, as long as they give her attention. I was thinking H & V since we can get in at 8am before park opening. Ohana sounds good but the only wariness DH has is since its polynesian, he don't want things with pineapple. He doesn't like pineapple and even if it garnished with it, he won't eat it.

Hmmm....I'd go with H&V then. No need to worry about pineapple & that'll be great if y'all can get in before the park opening! :thumbsup2

ugh. I swear I changed my ADRs 3 times yesterday and I really wanna change them again!!! :sad2: I currently have a ADR for Le Cellier for lunch. it is at 2:50 pm which is kind of making my whole day based around this one reservation. I am going to Animal Kingdom in the morning (right when it opens) and then heading over to Epcot around 1ish. I feel like I am just rushing around for this one reservation and will it be worth it?! And I could see if they have a earlier reservation then go to Animal Kingdom after that but won't it be busier and hotter? Ugh I am so frustrated on what to do lol

Ooohh...I'd really like to try Le Cellier one day.

Park hopping for an ADR (in my humble opinion) can be difficult. It does make it hard to make a touring strategy. Do you have any full days planned in Epcot? You could maybe do the lunch on that day & a counter service for dinner if you're wanting something lighter.

Or, maybe you could do the latest lunch ADR @ Le Cellier & make it an early dinner? :confused3

Ok, I'm down to 3 months and a few days and I'm still rethinking the possiblity of going withe the Deluxe Dining Plan. I have free QS and have upgraded to regular and am still pondering the idea of switching yet again. I don't think that I will because it's just me and my DD17 and we really dont want to do signature nor do we want to the BBQ or HoopDeeDoo ( and we did the Spirit of Aloha). Financially, it would only be $200 more than the original price of the DDP ( before I got the fee QS) which is extremely tempting. THe main reason I think that I am considering it is because there are still so many restaurants that I want to try. I have not changed any of my ADR's for quite some time now but, that doesnt mean that I havent thought about it!!!! I was fortunate to get a 7:40 for R & C so, hopefully we will be able to get a good view for Illuminations. I booked this on the evening EMH at Epcot so that we would not be caught up with the crowd leaving all at once. I've read pretty good reviews about the restaurant however, it's probably one of the menus that I have chosen that excites me the least. The other one that I am thinking of changing is possible Chefs. I have this booked for dinner but was thinking about Captains Grill. We are going in the beginning of June and most of my ADR's (except for Le Cellier) are dinner so, I'm thinking about maybe needing some guaranteed AC lunch days ( however, QS at resorts that are easily acceptable from where we are , can be a good possibility), I know that I can make ADR's and pay OOP as well but, I'm not sure how much of being tied down we want to be ( which is another reason I think dinner gives us more flexibility). This is what I have so far ( we have park hoppers)
Day 1- plane lands at 5 pm- Magical Express to POP- thinking Food Court or possible walk over to AofA
Day 2 - MK-CP- 8:20,Ohana- 5:20,Evening EMH 10-1 , AAA preferred fireworks viewing
Day 3 -AK morning EMH- Lunch either Yak & Yeti CS or perhaps go to CSR for Pepper Market buffet, head to HS for afternoon 6:00 Mama Melrose Fantasmic Pkg, HS evening EMH 9-12
Day 4-Morning open, head to DTD, perhaps Capt Cook or Olivia for BK (OOP) or WPE, Head to Epcot, snack and 7:40 R & C, Epcot evening EMH 9-12
Day 5-HS morning EMH- starring rolls breakfast, head to Boardwalk around 11- sundaes at B & C for lunch ( dont want to fill up on a burger first), head back to Epcot, 5 pm Chefs, head back to DTD (want to do the balloon ride in the evening )
Day 6- MK morning EMH- Contempo or Capt Cooks for lunch, perhaps back to AK in the afternoon, Boma 6:15
Day 7- Epcot -morning EMH- Le Cellier 11:50 lunch, afternoon??? perhaps back to MK or HS, dinner???? pack
Day 8- early AM Magical Express back to MCO and then off on the Fantasy for another 7 days!!!!!
My daughter really is sick of me talking about all this. I just dont want our trip to gravitate around having to be somewhere at a certain time but, it has been 6 years since we have been and I dont know when the next time we will get to come out there ( or when my DD will want to go on another vacation with just her Mom)
Thanks for letting me ramble, suggestions, comments, therapy, is appreciated

I would say if your daughter is sick of the restaurant talk & you don't want your vacation to revolve around ADRs, then I definitely would not get the deluxe dining plan. Also, you'll be on the Fantasy for 7 days after that & can eat A LOT on the boat!

As for R&C, we ate there on our last trip. I have to say that we enjoyed our meal there. It might not have been "exotic" or "adventurous" food but it was good. My DH had the surf & turf. He really liked his steak. But, he said he wished he had just ordered the fish & chips because he liked them so much. I had the Sunday Roast (basically pot roast). I really liked it but I like that kind of comfort food. We had a seat on the water. It was too early to see Illuminations but it was still nice sitting out there to eat.

As for Chefs vs. Captain's Grill....I can't help there. We have yet to eat at either. And they both get great reviews. Is there 1 menu that you find more savory than the other?

I think your plans look really good. Y'all are going to have such a fantastic time! Will you be doing a trip report? I would love to hear about the Fantasy. We've only done 1 Disney cruise (a 3 night on the Dream). We are considering doing the 7 night on the Fantasy during Thanksgiving 2013.

In terms of Chefs vs Captains, not quite sure.... I think we might see how we feel earlier in the week and possibly switch it up then. Since we are probably looking at an early dinner that day, maybe it will still be an option. I even looked at perhaps adding a day or two on the trip at the beginning but, I figured I could use those additional monies for excursions on the cruise. This will be our first time cruising in 6 years ( my DD was 11 the last time we went ). We have only been on Disney cruises and this will be our 5th. The first time we went I went on the 4 night but, have never gone for that short a time since. I'm in AZ( tucson) so, it's quite a hike to get out there and airfare is quite expensive so, I try to do it for two weeks at a time if I can. I would definetly recommend doing it again. I went on the first PC 2 week cruise. Thought it might be too long but, absolutely loved it. So, I know we will be having lots of great food as well the second week , so it actually makes things more complicated because then I think maybe I should go for the dining experience while at the world ( Sci Fi, 50's etc, even though we have done them before). I think this ADR's 180 days out is causing new addicitions in us!!!!Plus it's hard to diet when I keep looking at the menus and reviews....

That's a good idea to play it by ear for Chefs & Captains. I don't think you'll go wrong whichever one you end up at.

I have decided to stop looking at menus & dining reviews at night. That's when I tend to want to snack. And I am determined to lose some weight before our next trip. It's so hard!

My DH & I had only been on 1 other cruise before we did the Disney cruise. Well, we had both hated it. He swore he would never get on a boat again. The only way he agreed to try a Disney cruise was if (1) I booked the shortest amount of nights and (2) I got him a balcony. After our 3 night on the Dream, we are hooked on Disney cruising! I can't wait to go on a longer cruise. I don't blame you one bit for trying to make your vacation 2 weeks. Airfare is indeed crazy. We're in Louisiana & it can be crazy from here. In fact, we are going to be driving for the first time ever this year.

It's been so quiet here so I thought I'd check in. I am anxiously awaiting April 2nd, when I can make my ADRs. :woohoo: Of course, I'm trying to perfect them right now. I think I have made a pretty good list. However, there are 2 that I'm unsure about.

The first is Brown Derby at DHS. We will be doing a late breakfast at Hollywood & Vine that morning. So, I was thinking of doing a nice dinner at Brown Derby. But, I'm worried about whether it's worth the 2 TS credits or not. We like 50's Prime Time & could switch there. Or I guess we could always try Mama Melrose or Sci-Fi. Any thoughts?

Secondly, on our Animal Kingdom day we are going to do the character breakfast at Ohana and have lunch at Yak & Yeti (the counter service). I was trying to come up with something for us to do that night. I am considering the Hoop Dee Do Revue. We've never done this & I've heard good things about it. However, for some reason I'm just not completely sold on it & I've heard some rumblings that it may close in October. :confused3

Ha, I just found this.. I should have found it 2 months ago.. Cause this is ME!! I change all the time. I have added, deleted, added, changed, added and deleted 15 times since booking my up coming April trip.. I decided going into this trip that I was going to " go with the flow".. Now with a little more than a month left until I leave I'm saying to myself " wth was I thinking?".. So now I am stuck.. And I have nailed my hands behind my back so I can't change anymore and I am just going to see what happens.. Last may I had 14 ressies this time only 5 for 8 days.. Oh man someone's gonna have to talk me off the ledge..
Think... Raglan road..flying fish.. Via Napoli.. Ohana and chef mickeys..

I changed 2 ADRs again today! Only 43 more days til my trip...I wonder how many more times I will think to change it!!! As of right now I love the way it is....we will see how I feel tomorrow :)

Okay, so now I'm 3 months out and pretty happy and settle with my ressies ( added on a BK at Olivias OOP, want to try the Banana Bread French toast). Spoke with my aunt and uncle who live in Florida. They want to drive down and have lunch with us at DTD. They asked about Sunday ( that would be a 1st full day and have it all booked out , CP- 8;15 , Ohana 5:20 evening EMH, preferred AAA viewing for fireworks), had to try and explain it to them that these were too hard to change. That went pretty well until they said they would take work off Friday ( our last full day ) and come. Well , this was the date of the scored Le Cellier lunch ressie!!!! Well, 3 days later, I actually was able to find two others for lunch and now I have to revamp my schedule, park plans and other ressies accordingly.

The first scenario is a full, full day at Epcot. Evening EMH
Le Cellier at 11:55 and then R & C at 7;40 ( Illuminations )
It's just myself and my DD17 so, this could be easily possible. However, with these two great meals in one day at Epcot, it would eliminate the need ( not desire) for all of the wonderful worldly snacks that I have read so much about
This wouldnt change too much for us because it was going to be Olivias BK, DTD shopping, Epcot snack or CS and then dinner

2nd scenario
Morning MK EMH (as planned ), leave around 11 for 12:15 Le Cellier, hang and finish stuff at Epcot, snack, play by ear, AK parade??DTD ?? Leave open, wing it , Boardwalk?? CS dinner somewhere
(this would mean eliminating the LTT lunch and switching Boma to the previous day)
Impact on previous day
Morning HS (as planned ), changing Epcot and Chefs 6 pm to Boma and AK?? DTD?? not too sure

We're staying at POP, dont want to be doing too much running back and forth just for meals. Neither day in scenario two has an evening EMH so, the evenings in sceario two are somewhat flexible.

Our first two days are so heavy and long that the first scenario impacts our first downish and more leisurely day. The second scenario rushes us out of MK after 3 hours ( however, that will be our 2nd time there that week )

UGH!!!, each time I look, I think I like the other option better than the other..... What I really need is a lunch available at Le Cellier for the other day in between these two. That would be the easiest to change around

Any thoughts would be great.

Well, I'm glad you found us here! It's never too late to change, you know! I said the same thing about "going with the flow" when I first started planning our trip this year. Yeah, needless to say, I just redid our ADR list & I'm over our TS credit limit & I don't care. Time to up the food budget! :rotfl2:

I do like the ADRs you have listed. I've heard so many good things about Raglan Road & Flying Fish. My family really enjoys Chef Mickey's. And we are hoping to try Via Napoli & OHana (breakfast & dinner) for the 1st time this year. Are there any restaurants that you would feel like y'all are really missing?

I changed 2 ADRs again today! Only 43 more days til my trip...I wonder how many more times I will think to change it!!! As of right now I love the way it is....we will see how I feel tomorrow :)

Each day brings a new perspective, right? But, your trip is fast approaching. Yay! :woohoo: You'll probably think about changing at least a few hundred more times. But, will you actually change? :confused3 Let us know!

That's so nice that your aunt & uncle want to visit with y'all. But, I do know how hard it can be to re-work Disney plans. The good thing is that at least you were able to find some other lunch ADRs for Le Cellier.

As for your two scenarios, I'm torn just like you! :rotfl: I can see the pro's & con's to both. And, of course, you could still possibly score an ADR for the day in between those two. But, if that doesn't happen, I would probably go with scenario #1. The reason why I chose #1 is because it seemed like the option that would cause the least amount of changes for you. As far as the snacks go, perhaps you & your daughter could still choose a couple of snacks that y'all really want to try & just split them so that you're not getting too full.

Hi all. We just returned from a nice BWI stay this past week. Our first experience at California Grill happened on a bad night. Any ADRers making ressie at California Grill in the next 180 days, please beware: the hostesses on the 2nd floor told us when we checked in that the ADR system messed up ROYALLY and overbooked Cali Grill for up to 180 days. They said the most recent ADRs are most affected but it still could linger for months with some overbooking.

We were seated for dinner in the lounge, as they took all lounge tables/chairs and re-assigned them for diners to help alleviate the overbooking. We really felt rushed, probably due to staff trying to accommodate the overbooked folks. The bar area and waiting areas were like a zoo with people spilling very close to where we were sitting. I really wish they would have called us to advise us of the situation so we would have had the opportunity to keep, cancel or reschedule our ADR. :sad2:
