ADR Changers - We still don't know what we want for dinner!

I have tried to avoid becoming a part of this thread...I have enough issues with resort changing... Anyway, with resort changing comes some ADR changing, because I tend to book ressies closer to where we are staying...which keeps changing. I'm hoping that by putting this in writing, all of this changing will stop. So, here it goes:
10 nights in July at the Beach Club
Day 1- arrival day, we'll probably arrive at BC on the ME around 4. MK has EMHs that night so we are gonna hit the park and do QS dinner at Starlight Cafe
Day 2- dinner at Akershus (1st time, we usually do CRT)
Day 3- dinner at Via Napoli (1st time)
Day 4- dinner at Ohana (1st time)
Day 5- dinner at Teppan Edo (1st time)
Day 6- dinner at Biergarten (3rd time) :cloud9:
Day 7- date night dinner alone w/DH at Yachtsman Steakhouse (1st time)
Day 8- dinner at 1900 Park Fare (1st time)
Day 9- dinner at Sci Fi Diner (1st time)
Day 10- dinner at Le Cellier (2nd time)
Departure day - breakfast at Chef Mickeys (2nd time)

The more I look at it, I am very excited about all of our 1st time ressies!!! Critiques?

I agree completely - resort changing & ADR changing go hand in hand! I haven't been posting as much on the resort changers thread since I'm pretty set on POP (for now). But, I have been lurking & reading about everyone's changes. I think your ADR's look really great! We don't do princess meals but I've heard many good things about Akershus. And how great that you & DH will get to have a date night! :thumbsup2

Akershus - our next trip will be our first time, too. Hopefully we both have good experiences!
Via Napoli - We've eaten there twice now. Both times the food was very good, the service okay/good. The host stand was a negative both visits - they are pleasant enough but totally disorganized. Our most recent visit there was Jan. 2011, so hopefully they've worked out some of the kinks!
Ohana - we ate there once for a bad breakfast back in 2005 and have never been back! I've thought about it a few times recently, but haven't made the jump.
Teppan Edo - should be fun!
Biergarten - always nice to return to a favorite. One of these trips maybe I'll get past my intense aversion to German food and give it a whirl.
Yachtsman - A wonderful romantic dinner - nice!
1900 Park Fare - I've been meaning to try it, but never have. The step sisters seem like a hoot.
SciFi, Le Cellier & Chef Mickey's - we've been to each of them once, years ago. They were good but not our favorites back 6 years ago. We are also checking out Le Cellier and CMs on our next trip. Yum.
Your dining plan looks great!

Thank you for reading & for the kind words about my report! :goodvibes I highly recommend taking a photography class. Before that trip, I took a one day session (like 2 hours) at a local camera store. It really helped me enough to understand how to get off of "Auto". Since then, I took a class at the local university. It was 5 classes & I learned so much more about shooting in the different modes. It really helped that we had assignments for each week to really get out & utilize what we were learning. I'm not anywhere close to being a professional, but I feel like I at least know where to start to get certain shots that I want.
My DH understands all the technical parts of a camera but having him show me more than one or two quick things will lead to marital counseling. I get so frustrated with him when he tries to "help" me with the camera! While he gets the tech parts of photography, he just has no eye for composition, so I prefer to take the pictures on our trips. I know enough to be out of Auto mode, but I definitely need something like an advanced beginner class. I will have to look into that.

I think our ADRs are set. I'd love for our Chef Mickey's breakfast to be earlier, but I don't think the likelihood is very high. I've thought about canceling it altogether, but DD will like it and it is pretty convenient since this is our first stay in a monorail resort.

My DH knows absolutely nothing about how to work my camera. I'm always the family photographer (trips, holidays, you name it). If I want to be in a picture with our son, I have to get the camera on the right settings for him. Then, I hand it to him & tell him to just zoom in or out, focus & snap the picture. I could definitely use some more advanced lessons, but since I'm not trying to be a professional, I'm at least happy with what I can do with my camera right now.

Keep checking for that earlier Chef Mickey's ADR - you never know! Yeah, I would definitely keep it for your DD. You definitely can't beat the convenience factor! And your daughter should really enjoy it. My son really likes eating there & I'm kind of sad that I don't have it on the list (as of now) for December. But, I really want to try the OHana breakfast character meal. He has started liking Stitch, so I think he'll really enjoy meeting him. You said that y'all didn't enjoy the breakfast there though, right?

I've been MIA lately

So I just want to vent on how hard it is to keep changing vacation dates with ADRs, lol. We've changed dates 4 times now and everytime, I have to redo everything. Then I change, rethink everything. At this point--I think I'll just go to the California Grill everynight

If my company changes it's closing date again--I will freak, lol. This is my It's-my-birthday-and-just-started-a-severance-package trip :lmao:

Other than CG and Ohana... I haven't made ADRs. I'm thinking Captain's Grille, G-Flo Cafe, Nine Dragons, and Yachtsman--I'll just wait to see when exactly this ship will sink for good :rotfl2:

Welcome Back! :wave2:

I can't wait to hear about your trip to DisneyLand! And I hope things are starting to calm down with the job and all. That's terrible that they keep changing the closing date. :sad2:

California Grill every night sounds good to me! Seriously though, I think the places you mentioned above are some really good choices. Besides CG & OHana, are the others new places for y'all to try or repeats? Give it a little bit & I'm sure your trip will sink in. When it does, you'll be ready to get into planning mode! :thumbsup2

Back to say wow... havent made ANY changes! I think it's been a week, close to it? That's pretty good for me!

Though we still don't know where we are staying our last 3 nights... darn AP rates NEED to come out soon! That may cause me to change thiings up depending on if can't get our first choice of resorts we want.

Though... did find myself tonight thinking oh, really should add in CRT lunch one last time. Last time we're doing the deluxe dining plan - next trip all kids will be adults and $$$... so keep thinking it would be our last time to do CRT. Any word if they ever brought back Major Domo's Favorite Pie? We loved that. my one daughter says nope, wont' go back unless it's there - I guess she's boycotting the castle due to them taking away her favorite meal!

Good job holding strong & not making any changes! :thumbsup2

Hope the AP rates come out soon for you. I feel some changes coming your way when you decide on a resort for those nights!

I have not done CRT so I'm no help to you there....sorry! :sad1:

Well, I may have some changes rolling my way but I'm not positive yet. Tonight, my DH informed me that he REALLY wants to do the Tower of Terror 10 mile race at the end of September. At first, we were thinking of just going for the weekend (just him & I; I would leave our son with my mom  ). But, I just couldn't justify the money for such a short weekend. So, now we are throwing around some new dates. Here's what's on the board:

1. 9/28 - 10/6: He could run the Tower of Terror 10 Mile (BTW: ToT is his favorite ride in all of Disney so I know he's super excited about finishing up a race inside this ride)

2. 11/9 - 11/17: He could run the Food & Wine Half Marathon (he'd have to work up to 13 miles but he could always do the 5K)

3. 12/8 - 12/15: This is what we have booked right now.

I'm in the middle of making pro's & con's lists for all of these dates. He went to bed so we'll have to discuss it further tomorrow night. Who knows when we'll be going now. :confused3

Things are trying to calm down--everyone is just kind of numb and trying to press on with everyday duties. Everything at this point is a repeat. We've been to almost all the restaurants on property at this point, lol. There's not many "new" places we're interested in, and just try to satisfy cravings, lol. Since we just went to Naples in January at DL, we can skip Via Napoli/Tutto Italia this time :) The spaghetti/meatballs and pizza are just as fantastic over there!

I think after I knew the dates are for sure, I'll feel better!

Yeah, knowing your dates will definitely help with the decision making! I don't know which is harder: picking which new restaurants you really want to try OR picking which old favorites you really want to go to again. :confused3

Well, here I go again!

We moved our vacation from December to Sept. 29th - Oct. 6th. And instead of staying at POP, we are now booked at Boardwalk. :woohoo:

I'm excited to get to try MNSSHP & F&W. And now, my ADR making date is 4/2/12! :cool1: Must go re-work our possible itinerary & ADR's! :goodvibes

Did I just become part of this thread? Why yes, yes I did. I haven't exactly changed yet-since I made my ADR's, many times before making them though. Now I want to refigure my whole plan, because I want to do Garden Grove at Swan/Dolphin for their seafood buffet. But I cannot fathom changing my ADR's. This is my plan :

Sunday: arrive at Disney around 8pm (we are driving). Hang out at the hotel and get settled in.

Monday: AM EMH at AK, leave before parade (we've seen it). Hotel time. Dinner at 50's Prime Time (1st time) at HS, then stay for PM EMH at HS till kids are ready to go.

Tuesday: Relax most of the day or due a couple hours at MK, then head to Epcot. Dinner at Akershus (1st time) with the Princesses. Then stay for EMH at Epcot.

Wednesday: Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare (1st time), then go to MK. Head back in the late afternoon for naps. Late Dinner at Cape May(repeat), then maybe walk around Boardwalk???

Thursday: Possibly go to HS or MK, most likely HS to go to Toy Story and DD loves watching the Disney Channel Rocks show. Afternoon at the hotel. Dinner at Chef Mickey's(repeat). Maybe go to MK afterwards for fireworks.

Friday: This will be a relaxing day for us, maybe do some park time in the AM. Early dinner at T-Rex (1st time) at DTD. Do some shopping and call it a night.

Saturday: Breakfast at Kona. (ADR made, but may or may not cancel). Driving back home.

The problem is I really want to do T-Rex and it's hard enough to get in. Friday we have a 4pm ADR. On the other days the only available is 4pm, but I think that's too early on our park days since that's when the kids will be napping. I may have to bite the bullet and scrub T-Rex or just leave things alone and do Garden Grove next time we go, which will either be next year or year after that. We want the fantasyland renovations complete for the next time we go. The only reason we are going this August is because our AP expire mid-August and we want to use them one last time. We are moving away from FL next month, so we are ACTUALLY taking a Disney vacation. Never really stayed onsite before so its exciting. I should leave well enough alone, but I really want think my kiddos will like it. They love character meals and we love seafood. I wished Cape May had characters for the dinner and not just breakfast. Hopefully I won't become a resort changer, but right now we haven't chosen one yet, it'll be a value resort (pop or ASmo). Just waiting for passholders hotel savings or FL resident savings for August. We'll still have our FL DL's so we can take advantage. We are not changing those in our new state till they expire.

Sounds like you have a good plan right now! I would probably keep the TRex ADR - sounds like it'll be a good day for y'all to do it.

I was hoping to see most of the Fantasyland Expansion since we were normally booked for December. But now, we're going at the end of Sept./beginning of Oct. Oh well, we should at least be able to see Storybook Circus.

Good luck with choosing a resort! I can be bad about changing resorts. Then, I find that I change ADRs if I change the resort. :sad2: It's a vicious cycle.

Yes, its a good plan. I tried to rework it but nothing seems to work. DH told me he doesn't want to be on the go the whole time, its suppose to be relaxing. So if I fit in Garden Grove, it'll make things a little more hectic. I think I'll just put Garden Grove on my next time list, along with Mickey's BBQ. We wanted to wait on that one till DS is a little older.

I'm not sure how old your DS is, but if he's real young I would wait until he's at least not a toddler to do Mickey's BBQ. We took our son during his 1st Disney trip - he was 2 years old. It was a lot of fun but kind of chaotic. The kids can all dance on the dance floor & characters will come out & dance with them. The problem is that, as a parent, it can be difficult to keep up with your little one without knocking down all the other kids. And it's in an open pavilion at Fort Wilderness. My son, being a typical 2 year old, thought it would be funny to all of sudden take off & run away from us. I couldn't exactly take off as fast as he could without knocking over tons of other kids. But, I kept my eye on him & saw him run out of the pavilion into the dark of night! :scared1: Thankfully, a little boy standing near there told me he saw him run back in. I quickly found him sitting on a bench by himself dancing. :sad2: But, it was scary. Your son may be old enough that this wouldn't be a factor. However, I like to warn people that it can be hectic with a little one who doesn't understand not to do such things.

We were planning on waiting for Mickey's BBQ. DS is 1.5 and DD is 4. DH told me he likes the sound of garden grove. I told him we'll see, but we may cut Cape May for dinner then, but that is the place my dad wants to go. We are going with my parents and my brother and his two kids. They'll be 9 in our group so ADR's are complicated. We are not doing every meal together, but Cape May was one my dad likes. And my family (not me) are indecisive to the point that they say "whatever you want to do". THen after the fact, they complain that they didn't get to do something. Last year my mom planned Disney week for the two of them and my brother (not us as we were working all week, so I just made the Saturday ADR's). Well let's just say that they did not plan good and they were doing one park one day and had to leave to make ADR's at another Park, then the next day they were somewhere else and had to go somewhere different for lunch or dinner. It was a mess. That's why I am in charge of ADR's and the tentative schedule.

So I made ADR's this morning and now I want to change half of them. I don't want to waste morning EMH time but I want to fit in Tusker House and Akershus. Should I do 10 am for both of those breakfasts?

Given your children's ages, I think it's a good idea to wait for the BBQ. If y'all do Garden Grove is there anything besides Cape May that you cancel to work it in? I have to say, it sounds like a good thing that you're the one in charge of ADRs. But, it is indeed so complicated when you have that many people & different families to plan ADRs for.

What time do you currently have for Tusker & Akershus? And what time are the respective parks opening on those days?

Another thought....could you do Tusker for lunch? And for Akershus, do either lunch or dinner? :confused3
