ADR before park opening

Okay, I know that we give our ressie number to the CM's at the gate, but I've never had the opportunity to be in the parks early before (I know... I know... I'm deprived! )

What are your experiences with early entry to DHS? We are slotted for 8:30 a.m. ADR at Hollywood and Vine on departure day and the park doesn't open until 9.

How early will they let us in #1, and #2, if I called for an even earlier ressie (like around 8) for all sakes of argument, could we possibly be done with our meal before the park opens? What would we do other than roam (line up for TSM perhaps??)

Any strategies would be greatly appreciated. I don't really care for DHS, but am going for my kids to do this meal (hopefully the characters will change before September).

1- 10-20 minutes before your ADR time.
2- Yes.
3- You would go over and join the rest of the Rope Drop guests awaiting the Rope Drop time.
4- Nope. They won't let you do that.

At Rope Drop, the CMs direct guests to enter via the "Rope Drop Path" thru the Animation archway.

We had a 8am ADR for 9am RD. Finished and left right at 9, joined the herd just outside H&V for the mad dash to TSM. My girls actually loved this meal, even though the characters were a bit dated. It was not at all crowded, they got up and danced and had a blast. The CM's were really great. They enjoyed the attention, even if it wasn't from some "fav" characters!
