Any photoshop classes are expensive. Was wondering if anyone has taken the online classes to learn photoshop? If so, was it worth the money. Did it teach you all you were hoping to learn?

I can do a little with photoshop, but would like to learn all there is to know about it.

Any suggestions on which ones to take?

thanks for any input you can give me.

I have learned Photoshop over the years for work and for my digital photography.

This year, I signed up for seminars through the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP). If you sign up and become a member, you can view ALL the tutorials, tricks, and tips they have online and use their forums. GREAT source of info.

It's only like $100 to become a member and you also get monthly magazine sent to you and, quite often, they do live broadcasts on different subjects from photography to lightroom to photoshop. Highly recommend if you are looking to learn more.

I think of Photoshop and Illustrator as programs where you're always learning. I taught myself a lot of them, but it was slow going, so I would often have to refer to free online tutorials whenever I was stuck. The courses that were offered online were too expensive for me, so I signed up for a 4-hour class ($150) that the community college offered, just to get the basics down. It taught me enough so that I wasn't completely clueless, and I have been learning more and more as I've gone along. I'd love to hear about peoples' experience with the expensive online classes, though!!

I love www.lynda.com

I haven't used it in awhile but it used to be a monthly subscription. I found the lessons very well done and broken out into digestible segments.

if you have a local community college, take a few classes, if not like a PP said, join NAPP. other than that, grab a few books(scott kelby has some good ones), put on some good tunes and just have fun with it!!
mainly dont get discouraged, its a doozy of a program and can be pretty overwhelming at first.

Thanks for all the great info. Our community college charges $250.00. I really didn't want to pay that much.

I know a little bit of Photoshop but would really like to get to know more. I will check out some of the info you all gave me.

Thanks again.

Photoshop For Dummies made it very easy for me and it's not as insulting as it sounds, I promise. That, combined with tutorials on youtube, and there should be no reason to spend money on a class. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the resources. Photoshop is something I have wanted to learn more about too. I think I am going to look into joining the association. Thanks again guys.:surfweb:

Funny you would ask this. I am currently enrolled in a class at my community college. Our instructor uses the assignments in our book that show you step by step directions. The book is Adobe Photoshop CS5 ISB #978-032170176-3 and can be purchased online used. One wonderful thing about me taking the class at college is I qualify for a pretty substancial discount for the actual software.
