I am waiting on my BWV resale to close. And when it does, I am going to add on at VGC.

I was thinking:

option #1
2 x 30 point contracts

option #2
3 x 25 point contracts.

Am I being paranoid about making my contracts so small? I know that small contracts sell faster, easier to leave to our kids...

Or would just one 60 or 75 point contract be ok? Seemed when I mentioned this to my guide, he was thinking without saying, "Come on, why are you wasting my time."

I am definitely not an expert in this, but the first question that comes to mind is...would your kids find any value in a 20 or 25 point contract?

When I have done add-ons they have been small contracts b/c if I ever want or need to downsize a bit I can adjust in small amounts. Otherwise I don't think there will be much of a resale difference between a 30 pt or a 60 pt - either would sell quickly.

Smaller contracts do sell faster and at a higher price. We have several 50 point contracts.

I would not worry about having small contracts and if you did ever find you had to sell for any reason, it will be much easier (ie: you find that you really only need 50 VGC and not 75).

But, since you are considering making it all the way to 75, have you thought about 100 points? The incentives I believe are less when you go that high.

75 points will be $7800 ($104/ppt) and 100 is $9800 ($98/ppt). For $2000, you are getting 25 more points--making those extra points only $80.00 per point.

Now, you have to spend an extra $2000 upfront and for me, who has come down with addonitis myself (just did another 50 at BLT), I am always looking at ways to justify getting more points!!!!

If it were me, I would opt for one larger add-on contract instead of three smaller ones. I think that the basic rule of thumb is that contracts under 100 points are generally good during resale. I believe that since people are typically able to add on through Disney in 25 point increments, I tend to believe that they would go through Disney for those smaller contracts before hitting the resale market, even if they had to be waitlisted through Disney for a couple months. I think that a 75 point contract, however, would be very attractive to someone if you ever had to sell. Either way, happy add-onitis! :thumbsup2

Given the high points per night at VGC, I think you are better off with slightly larger contracts. I just did a 100 point add-on and split it 50-50. I honestly don't think a 25 or 30 pt VGC contract will sell faster than a 60-70 point contract - and there is added hassle.

I originally thought about 3 25 point contracts to leave to the kids..When the point charts came out I decided that wouldn't work very well. Then I got serious with pencil and paper and figured out various travel scenarios. I ended up with 2 contracts..one of 60 and one of 65 so we could sell one down the road if we wanted and still have enough for some visits. I am going to be in borrowing mode for the first couple years, but hopefully these points will be enough. Maybe I'll sell my OKW and add on 60 more VGC. For now I'm happy with my decision, but it did mess up the 'leave DVC to my kids' thing.

I agree. 25 points will not go very far at VGC
