Additional Point Purchases

Has anyone ever heard of a situation where you buy additional points (minimum add-on from DVC) at your home resort in order to sell to another DVC member with a different home resort?

For example, I own at SSR but want to get points for VWL. I arrange with a current VWL owner who purchases the minimum number of points (30?) from Disney and then sells them to me.

I am wondering if this is a way to acquire a small number of points for a resort (vs. the rather large number typically avail. for resale)?

Any thoughts?

One other quick question, is their a minimum number of points that have to be owned to book under the 11 mo. window?

You don't need to own at VWL in order to do a small add-on there. Call your Guide. You may need to wait weeks or months for the points to become available since the resort is sold out. And, some Guides are better than others at looking out for the points you want. Check back often.

The minimum for an add on is 25.

The minimum to finance through DVC is 50.

The minimum to use Magical Beginnings is 100.

If you only buy 30 pts at VWL, that is all you will be able to use at 11 months. You only get the 11 month window for the number of points you own at that resort. Although banking and borrowing could get you 90 points every 3 years if you so desire.

magical beginnings is only available if you buy SSR - I just bought 150 BCV points, new contract (not an add on because no Feb use year was available) and because it's 84per point, , there's no magical beginning. But I guess it's magical enough to find BCV points and have it 11- cheaper than SS!

Are you certain that DVC would not have bought-back the first year's points for $10 each? The $84 price point has been in place for probably 18 months now on those resorts. However, Magical Beginnings has always been offered, whereby DVC would buy-back the first year's points for $10 each.
