Adding Someone to Res @ Check-in - DME Question

Hi!

I'm not really sure if this is the place to ask this question but I wasn't sure where else to post it.

I will be adding my sister to our room at check-in next month. Her coming is a surprise for my mom's birthday so I don't want to add her beforehand so that my mom doesn't see it on MDE. She will be coming the day after we arrive so I know that I have read on here that I will be able to get her on DME when she arrives. My question is that if she won't have a magicband, how will they verify she is allowed to ride the bus over? I just got our DME stuff in the mail last week and it says that we have to either have the paper they mailed us with the barcode on it or our magicbands. Since she will be added at check in, she won't have either of these things.

Has anyone done this before? What is the procedure?

If she's not on the room prior to getting to DME, they won't give her a ride.

I don't think she can walk up, say she's being added, and hop on.

She will be on the room. I am adding her when I check in on Wednesday, she is arriving Thursday. I just am not sure how they will know that. I'm sure there must be some sort of procedure because I have seen people here talk about doing it. I just wanted to know what the procedure is ahead of time. :)

After you add her to the room, call Magical Express and give them her flight information. She can check-in at the Magical Express desk upon arrival. She can collect her own bags and take them on the bus.

Oh, perfect. I didn't realize they had a desk. It has been a while since I took DME. Thank you!

If she does not want to collect her own bags, she can give her bag check ticket from the airline to the DME desk and they will pull it and deliver it for her.

I have done this a few times and the front desk at the hotel actually took care of all the ME stuff when they added them to the room.

Just an aside FYI. If you don't add her until you check in, she won't be able to get any FP+ with you & your Mom

Yeah- She might be buying her park tickets before she comes (and we are within 30 days so I could make her FP at any time once she does) but we don't have very many FP this time around so I'm not too stressed about it if she doesn't. We go once a year or so (well, mom and I do. My sister hasn't been in over 10 years) so we don't stress about FPs anymore. If we get them, cool. If not, we either don't ride or go standby. The biggest issue would be that we have them for FEA but I have had an easy enough time finding a new time the couple of times I have switched it around so I'm hoping that if I am diligent in checking that I will be able to find a time that fits for 3 people. :thumbsup2

I'm not trying to hijack your question at all, but my question kind of pertains to it and I'm hoping someone can help. Four of us are taking a girl's trip in December. 3 day prior to the end of the vacation, one friend is leaving and another is flying in. There will never be more than four people in the room. I am assuming I can book magical express for both the person leaving and the person coming if I explain the situation to the front desk. Worst case scenario I suppose the friend joining could pay for a shuttle to the resort. I don't want to add ahead of time, because it will look like there will be five people in the room and our AKL room is Max 4 adults. Again, sorry to jump on your question, I'm just hoping someone might know the answer!:-)
