I will be closing on a BWV resale in the next day or two. Do I need to call MS to make sure this contract is added to my current membership? My resale agent told me that Disney will automatically combine the contract with my other contracts as long as the new contract is deeded the same as the original, but I wanted to see if this has been the experience of others.

TIA

Our resale purchases have all been correctly combined with our previous contracts since they were deeded the same!:lovestruc
Congratulations!:thumbsup2

We're in the process of closing on a 2nd contract as well. We were told that it would be automatic as long as the deeds are the same, but they also suggested that we include our Member ID on the paperwork to assist in that process.

Congratulations! I don't know about you but we're dying to get our hands on those extra points --- lots of planning to do!!! :surfweb:

Our second resale contract was not put on our current DVC membership number. I happened to call and catch it before it was too late to change things without a huge hassle. With our third resale contract, I made sure to put our DVC membership number on all of the paperwork that would be sent to Disney, and it was added without any trouble.

They also need to be the same use year, or it will be a completely different membership.

We have 3 resales, all same UY and all have been included in the one membership. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the replies. I had put my membership number on the purchase agreement, and now I'll put it on the closing documents. I just didn't know if I needed to call MS to assure it was added to my membership.

Yes, all contracts including the new one are DEC UY.

Once I did call, it is worth it to be sure.

When did you call? Was it before or after you sent in your final documents? Thanks

I called member services after we sent the final check. I told them to expect an add on. At that time, on the disboards (maybe 5 years ago) someone's add on was not added to the contract, and I think I went overboard with worry. I had alerted our broker, more than once.

The other 2 times, including the most recent add on which was completed in the fall, I did not call and everything worked out just fine.:goodvibes

Thanks, bobbiwoz, I just got off the phone with MS and a really helpful CM told me the same as others have posted. As long as the contract is deeded the same and the UY is the same, there will no problem. I know what you mean about being overboard with worry. Although I am saving a bunch of coin going resale, it sure is a lot more stressful than my last add-on I did through Disney, where I called my guide one night and the points were there the next day.

Thanks again everyone for the help.

Make sure the UY and names are exactly the same. Put the info on the contract and make sure the closing company sends a letter addressing the issue as well. Also alert member admin yourself around or before closing, remind them if it's been a while. They will not go back and fix it once all is done.

We bought our second addon through the timeshare store. Scot made sure he had our contract number and names as shown on our original deed. And then we kept an eye on the MS website and saw that they were adding the correct contract number on our account and a couple of days later the points were added.

If I am reading this right the new resale I just placed an offer on will be a problem. Our others are Feb this one is December. It will be considered it's own and we cannot combine the points?

you cannot simply combine pts from separate contracts to book a single night, no.

if you transfer the pts from one contract to another, you would be able to combine the pts but it adds an extra step. you will also have to keep track of separate banking windows. it's a hassle but if you are good at keeping track of your pts, it's not a huge deal.

(note that transferring pts has no affect on the home resort priority in any event.)

Thanks that helps me with my decision. I was considering adding 25 points to my AKV contract through Disney but a 30 point SSR resale showed up for less. I never thought about transferring. The use years are close so I should be alright keeping track our problem has always been we are point poor. In the last 5 years we have been members I have never been able to bank. :teacher: We use them!

I just called member admin and they told me that because I purchased a resale it would not be added to my account and that I would have two different member numbers.

Most people who bought resale and met the criteria I mentioned have had the contracts combined. If they know in enough time, they will combine them. Hopefully you were getting an off the cuff answer from someone who really didn't know and you really will have them all together.

That information was incorrect. I've done a couple of resale purchases and they have always been added into my existing membership. The last one was done this May.

Well, I just received an email that our resale closed today. I did everything suggested, put my membership no. on paperwork, asked title company to forward membership info to Disney and called MS. Probably overkill, but I wanted to make sure. I'll let y'all know in a few days how it turned out.
