Adding people to room once there??

disney must have the names of each peson staying in the room/

In August I stayed at BWV on rented points, and added my adult son to the reservation on arrival. As long as the occupancy restrictions are not violated, it's not a problem. They just wanted his name to put on a key card. No re-booking.

Also, an extra parking pass will not always do the trick. At SSR we waved a parking pass but were stopped and told "We need to see your room key". That was in September when we stayed at an SSR THV.

The reality is that Disney cannot restrict the names in a room or the ability to add or change at check in. They can enforce occupancy and rules for add on plans like the Dining Plan but not to the exclusion of being able to add or change the names on site otherwise. I'm not aware of anyone who's been charged at check in for the DP when adding names but they could if applicable. It is possible they'll mess it up at check in but that can be fixed later if they do. In order to restrict the names I believe they'd have to change the POS and as I read the rules to do so, this would require a vote of the actual membership. I do not believe the reservation powers would extend to this issue.

Am I the only one that has people come visit me at resorts and just go to the gate and say they are having lunch or dinner at whatever restaurant is at that resort.

You mean lie? I hope you're the only one. And BTW, they check dining reservation numbers at the gate now at peak times because of all the people lying about why they want in.

Why don't they just say they are visiting you? We have relatives in Orlando who always come over to see us. We just let the front desk know; I assume they tell the guards but we've never had a problem with visiting guests.

Depends on exactly what you mean. We have had people visit us and yes, they just tell the guard shack that is what they are doing. But if someone is going to be staying in the room then we add their name. And we also have done it after arrival without issue but CM's are not all created equal and there have been reports of crazy stuff happening when doing that. Since it's been my own account I've taken the risk but I wouldn't with a rental nor would I want a renter to try it.

I am not talking about people staying in my room, I am talking about people visiting me while I am in florida. And almost always we do go eat somewhere. I am not sure how that is a problem. If I have someone staying with me overnight they are listed and have their own key. I got the impression that the OP had people visiting them and had rooms elsewhere, was I mistaken???

It isn't a problem - except for the using the pool part. Technically you're supposed to be staying onsite to do that.

I had an issue at SSR friends of my Wife that live in florida were told they could not get in to just visit. When I complained I got different answers whether guests were allowed or not. Which seems to happen off and on depending who you talk at Disney in regards to a lot of things. It was a CM that told me to just have them say they were eating there and there would be an issue.

Gardenia, Please read my above post to tell you why I do it the way I do. And I have to admit I do not take kindly at being called a liar by someone that does not know me at all.

I am wondering if I would have to add a child's name to the reservation. There is a very outside possibility that my DD's friend may join us for a couple of nights. She would be flying in with her grandma and dropped off with us for a couple days. She would not need a key or parking pass :lmao:and we would still be under the occupancy limit.I hate to bother the member I am renting points from if I don't need to.

IMO as long as you are good on the # of people in the room, just have the kid stay. No reason to go thru the whole mess of 'adding to the room'.

Having overnight guests without notifying the resort would be in violation of the rules as I understand it.
