Adding on thru Disney

If you have not reached your UY for the year you make on add on purchase thru Disney do you get the current points as well?

For example, if I have a December use year at BLT and decide to add on 50pts in March 2010, do I actually get 50pts points backdated to December 1st 2009 or just the50 points on Dec 1st 2010.

Also if the above is true and you added on after the banking due date, are you forced to use them that UY?

As a rule you will get the Dec, 09 points in your situation. There are exceptions, mostly for new resorts (or sections) that are opening during the UY, but not generally for the situation you describe. They would be bankable. While technically the banking rules apply, DVC generally will waive those for a new retail purchase and let you bank even if the deadline has past.

Dean is right. I purchased a BWV Dec UY add-on in Nov 08 and received all 07 points and then received 08 points on Dec 1 08. They allowed me to bank the 07 points even though they were only days away from expiration. The best part was that I only had to pay MF's on 1 month (1/12) of the 07 points.

I will add that it is possible current points may not always be available. The reason I say this is when I called my guide to see if they had any BVW Dec UY points available, she checked and returned to the phone and said yes and "I see the 07 points are available so you'll receive those also" or something to that effect. It is possible I misunderstood or maybe they always say that.

Our best was an unexpected add-on at DL on Sept 30th, 2007. We have an Oct UY and received "triple" points (points from Oct 2006, Oct 2007 and matching Developer Points) along with free APs and other incentives. We felt awash in points for quite some time!
