Well, that depends on where you want the points and how many and if they come with banked points, etc.

I'd say if you want OKW, VB, HHI to definately go for resale. Otherwise you need to do some number crunching and considering the number of points available on the contracts via the resale market. The fewer the number of points you buy on the resale market, the more expensive they become when you add in the closing costs (although Tom advised us today that the cost of closing on smaller contracts has been lowered so it's a bit more reasonable now).

For 100 points at SSR, I'd go with DVC...

Here's why... you would get the $8 incentive so the cost would be $90 per point. Also, if you have a use year that is in the Fall, you could get 2004 points and then get the 2005 points when those come up too. However, you would only pay a prorated amount of MN fees. So it would be like getting a 100 point contract with 100 banked points. Say you were to rent those 100 points at $10 per point, that lowers the overall point cost to around $80 per point.

Ok, now lets say you find a 100 point SSR contract on the resale market. Chances are it is going to be stripped and you would have to offer around $80-83 per point. Closing costs will be about $4 per point, so that puts you at $84-87 per point. If it has current year points, you are usually expected to pay the MN fees back to the seller, so you would then have to add an additional 3.83 per point, so now you are up to $87-91 per point. If it has 2004 points that they banked, you could lower the price quite a bit, but it would still be in the $80 range. Plus you are looking at 6-8 weeks after you find the contract. (And just from my personal experience, you don't see that many smaller SSR contracts coming up, and if you do they are stripped down).
