Adding Days to Land/Sea Package

What has been your experience adding WDW days to the 7 day land/sea package? If you have done them through DCL, would you possibly share how much extra they charged per person per day? Has anyone added a day to their Disney resort stay on their own and then linked it to their cruise package? I'm trying to figure out what my options are. . .

Currently we're scheduled for 4 days at the PO-French Quarter and the 3 day Wonder Feb. 9-16. I'd like to add Feb. 8 -- not sure that we'll hit the parks on the 8th. Also, we're considering an upgrade to Cat. 7 and the Polynesian (Friends may be joining us who will require a Cat. 4 room).

We are booked on the June 20th Wonder with 4 (now 5) days at the World prior. We are in Cat. 4 with a Poly lagoon view. It was pricey to add the day thru DCL. Room cost plus extra day on LOS pass. The advantages are that when we check in, it will be seamless. One reservation, one KTW card. I have heard of people having to change rooms from there add on to the package room. When you have a large group like we do (4 rooms) the convenience and no hassle is important! You have to think about the transfers as well. If you use DCL transfers and you add a day it can mess things up depending on the day. Call DCL and discuss how it might effect your trip.

We're going down in June for a land/sea package. We have unused passes from previous trips, and with the low rates for the rooms, we decided to go down two days earlier. I contacted DCL, and the only way to add days would be to get the passes and all, it worked out to about $165 per person I think. So, instead, I booked two nights at the Caribbean Beach, (which is where we're staying for the cruise package) through Disney reservations for their $94 per night. Now, granted, we may have to change rooms (tho' the Disney rep said we should tell them at check in that we're going to be on the cruise package, and if a room in the area where they put cruise passengers is available, they can put us in there, and we can stay put.) Yes, we will probably have to check out and check in, but I think it will be worth it. It depends on how much hassle you're willing to put up with!

We did this last year, adding an extra night (for a total of four) at PO Riverside before our cruise. We had to arrange our own transportation from MCO (we used Mears and were very pleased) since we arrived on a "non-package day". We checked in once and didn't have to move, check out or anything else.

We've added an extra night at the beginning and two nights at the end (all at PO Riverside again) of our upcoming trip in December, and my TA says that we will probably be able to do the same thing.

The only stipulation is that we had to pay for all of the extra room nights up front, which is fine with me, since now my trip is completely paid for! (I don't believe in credit cards, so I paid my deposit and the extra nights when I made my reservations, and have since paid the balance in full. Thanks for the tax refund, Uncle Sam!)

We are heading to WDW in two weeks! We booked the L/S pkg for our cruise but I don't want to waste my first park day just getting there and checking in so we added a night at the GF. I went through SOG and got the overflow rate for that one night. It's not cheap and yes, we'll definitely have to change rooms (our pkg room is Concierge, but the room I booked on my own is GV). Honestly though, I do think it's less than we'd pay DCL. Our first night will be relaxed, settling in...dinner at Ohana's then down to the beach to watch EWP. No park tix required to have a nice first day. Our ressies are linked in the computer, per my request. It was no problem at all for them to do this.
We don't have DCL transfers. We've chosen to use Happy Limo so we can be on our own schedule yet not have to drive. I don't know if that makes a difference since I know you can purchase luggage only transfers. (but I don't know how this works)
I guess you have to decide what's easiest and most important for you. It seems to be very easy to no matter which you choose.

We booked the land/sea vacation for May 2003. We are staying at the Port Orleans French Quarter. We added an additional night at that hotel so that we would have 4 nights land and 4 nights sea. The additional night with all park passes for two adults and two children was $377.00.
