Adding Days on a Trip

My inlaws are looking in to taking us on a last minute trip. They only want to go from 2-5 days, so we want to add days on. We would be adding to the beginning of the trip, both resort and park days. Is there a right way to do that? Their reservations have not been made yet. Should we have them go ahead and make the reservations and then call and add ours after they make the initial ressies? We want to be sure to be able to get the FP+ for all of our days.
They have never been, so I would like to use our MDE sign in. Should we have everyone linked to ours?

You are asking a lot of questions but haven't given us enough facts so that we can answer them. ;)

Will this be for one room or for two? It makes a huge difference if you are sharing a room.

1. You can use one MDE account for everything. It is often the easiest way to do it if your in-laws don't already have their own account. If they have their own MDE account then there is no problem in linking to two accounts together. My DH and I each have our own MDE accounts and have no problem sharing all of our info.

2. if staying in two separate rooms then I can't see why your in-laws can't book a room in your name. Or you can book a room in your own name and they can pay for it;)

3. if staying in one room then all of you will have to be on the reservation for the entire length of stay. Disney will not add guests for only part of the stay. I have been through this with Disney and the best that they can do is to give you a credit after you check in for the days that the extra adults were

4. tickets - if you book a room only reservations then you can buy your tickets separately for whatever you want. If you have one room and book a package then everyone has to have the same tickets.

We will have 2 rooms, grandparents will have my niece and nephew in one room, we will have me, my husband and two sons in a different room. They will pay for the two rooms and as many days as they choose of tickets for all 8 people. We want to add days of tickets before their check in date, we will add the room only before those dates. We have added says at the end previously, but never added them before. If they purchase a package can we add days before their initial date?

You should buy your tickets separately and attach them to your resort reservation. That way you will be able to book fp+s starting 60 days out from your check in date. If they buy a package with tickets then those package tickets become active on their check in date. They will only be able to buy package tickets for the people in their room, anyway.

I'm still a little confused over your trip arrangements. Are your inlaws booking two rooms with the exact same check in and check out dates and tickets for that length of stay? And then are you planning to make a new room only reservation that you will pay for yourself? And then do you want to use the package tickets that they buy for the room they book and add extra days to it? If that is the case then you won't be able to do that until you get down to WDW and go to guest services and ask for those tickets early. Then you can add on days at that time.

You guys are awesome!

We will book room only ressies for all parties and buy tickets separately. Then we will attach our tickets with more days to our rooms and their shorter number of tickets to their room. We will probably reserve a different resort for the time we are there before they arrive and move to their resort when they get there. Here is what we are looking at:
June 3-7 our own room-maybe renting through Dave's. Starting 10 days of tickets
June 7-11 grandparents will make reservations for 2 rooms-looking at POP. They will have 4 or 5 days of tickets. We will move to their resort.

They do not have a MDE account, so We will connect everyone to ours.

They are paying for tickets for all of us for the time we are there, we will just pay the up-fee for our extra days.

I hope I am making sense on all this.

This won't be a problem at all since your not booking a package. It can all be done through your MDE and you don't have to split your stay unless you want to enjoy two different resorts.

Your tickets will be linked to each member of the party (not to a room) so just attach the ticket with the correct number of days to the person using it. Same with the room(s) you will be asked to select members of your party to occupy the room.

Once you reach the 60 day mark of the first day of your stay you can make your FP+ reservations for the entire trip.
