soooo, here's the situation:
we currently own at BWV, and NEED to add points (amazing how quickly that "we'll go every 2 years" theory disappeared! ;) ).

i thought about resale, but only want about 50 points ~ and the resales are signficantly more than i would pay using magical beginnings & CM discount (which i am sworn to secrecy about ;) ) directly thru DVC. any DVC resort is fine, as we don't go during "prime times", and only need the 7 month window.
so, the dilemma:

VB has a $15 MB, but dues are higher.
HH has $10 MB with lower dues.

the effective cost per point over the remaining years of DVC is comparable, with VB coming in a bit higher ~ about $1300 over the "long run" (yup, i do enjoy math!).

in other's experiences, which (of VB & HH) are easier to rent (if needed/wanted), as well as having a higher resale value (hopefully a moot point, but one never knows)?
i did look at the "rent board" & resale sites, but wasn't able to make a good enough determination from those (as prices might be affected by season, amt of pts, etc).
any & all help would be appreciated ~
thanks,
laurie s (whose brain is REALLY starting to ache!!! )

If you did your add on at Hilton Head it would be an easier drive than VB for you (saw you are from New York). Also, the dues are cheaper. We usually fly and vacation in Florida, but are wanting to go to the ocean in May and have decided to check out Hilton Head. I think I would like the idea of having some points at a destination I could drive to in about 12 hours. My sister-in-law and brother love Disney's Hilton Head Resort. They tried it this past March and fell in love with the place.

Of course, BCV has Storm a Long Bay pool. VB seems to have the most for sale ads via resale of all the DVC resorts.

Good luck with your decision.

If you intend to use the points at WDW, I would buy at BCV. That way you can get a reservation in the Boardwalk area at the 11 month window with those points and switch to BWV if you wished. On the other hand, having points at HH would break up your drive down!

Just one thing to remember.. in order to use the 11 month window rule you have to have that many points at that resort. (example...you buy 50 points at Vero and book a stay that takes 125...you will still only be able to use the 7 month rule )So if you're only going to buy 50 points I'd stick wiyh the resort you all ready own at. If you want to save money right now buy at Vero the sell back is a good deal(15$ a point). Not to mention the way the market is going DVC is a better bet then the Stock Market...I just bought 175 at Vero to go with 325 at HH......Go for it!!

In your situation, I'd buy BCV from DVC.

If everyone would put a little money together and buy me an add-on at each of the resorts, I would be glad to do a comparison of all the resorts.

let me clarify (i think the numbers took over my brain & wouldn't let the other info out ;) ).......

we plan on actually using the points at WDW rather than VB or HH (as we already live near the beach & love WDW for the "different" vacation it offers us), using the 7 month window. we've never had a prob getting our non-prime ressies 3-4 months out, so i figured we would avoid paying $5-10 more per point "premium" for BCV or VWL.

so whatcha all think.........
of only VB or HH: which might be more "rentable" or "sellable"? (btw, i have no idea which of the 2 came first, or which is more "sold out" ~ which would prob influence which has more availability on sale/rent boards, right?
 )

i need mega-doses of tylenol now........

thanks,
laurie s

Laurie,

We own at VB and OKW.If you are planning on staying at WDW site(DVC) most of the time, I would still reccomend to buy at BCV or a re-sale(OKW) at an on-site DVC.
We love VB and plan on going there at least 1 -2 times a year. But we also have OKW ,so we have the 11 month window at WDW and ocean front at VB. It would be foolish for you to pay the higher dues for the next 40 years if you don't plan on going to HH or VB at all.Remember this is just my opinion.:D

Neither HH or VB will be as rentable as WDW. VB doesn't make sense because of the higher fees. I'd only buy HH if I wanted to stay there part of the time. Why complicate your life when you don't have to. Just because you haven't had problems now, why risk it for the future?
