Add-on Decision! Only you guys can help!

But I am exactly where you are...hard pressed to buy at VGC knowing we won't be there frequently. But my stupid brain keeps yelling at me since I never use home resort window anyway and thus (in my case) points are points.

While that is true now, it isn't necessarily always going to be true. That part of DVC can change at any time, and they can limit us to our home resorts only should they ever choose to do that. That is why many say to buy where you love to stay.

Gah! I knew I had been away from the DVC boards for too long! :rotfl2: When I was on here daily, I knew and remembered all of these little details. I had completely forgotten about this. Thanks for the reminder! :goodvibes

3DisneyKids,
I'm wondering if your CA trips are scheduled within 3-4 months, too? We live on the east coast and we almost always go to DL at least once a year. For us, the transportation costs are more expensive to go to CA vs FL and so we plan them way in advance so I can shop for the best airfares.

While you don't plan to go to CA very often, I'm thinking that using the waitlist for VGC may not work as well for you and there is going to be a lot of competition for those 50 rooms at the 7 month point. At WDW, you can generally book something--then waitlist elsewhere if it's not your preferred resort. At VGC, it becomes more problematic especially, if you have to arrange flights and so on. You could book using reservation points at the DLH or PPH, but then you couldn't convert them back to stay at VGC even if the WL opened up...

Decision has been made!

Drum roll, please....

I am now the owner of 200 points at....

BLT!

Diane, for what it's worth, you swayed me! I know that I will *always* want/need the points to stay at World. While I love Land, it just won't happen very often, so it is better for us to have points in Florida.

Thanks for all of the pros/cons and opinions! It was a tough decision as I absolutely ADORE VGC. In fact, I would go as far to say that it is my favorite DVC resort of all. But sadly, we just won't get there very often. And if that ever looks like it is going to change, well then...I guess we'll have to add on again!
