Adam and Katies 10/2/2010 SBP/Attic/?? ~ brainstorming!

Ok so i'm sitting here at work, not doing work related things of course, searching Etsy for some inspiration. :surfweb: I didn't have anything in mind on what i was actually looking for but after half an hour on that website i'm a total mess!!!:headache:

There are just so many options out there for jewelry, and headpieces, and garters....ect. I'm terrible at making decisions and tend to go back and forth on alot of things. Once in a while I go on impulse, like my wedding gown purchase. :thumbsup2 But as far as everything else i'm clueless!! I need help!!!

Jewelry:

Do I go with the normal traditional jewelry with maybe some swavorski crystals or do i go with something unique like Carrie's lovely blue necklace? :confused3 I like both ideas but i don't know what would looks best with my gown OR where you girls find such lovely jewelry!

Headpiece:

Veil or no Veil? that is the question.....
A part of me likes the tradition of wearing a veil.:cloud9: But another part of me absolutly HATES the idea of one. :sad2: I mean we aren't doing a traditional wedding by any means but if i dont go with a veil what should i do?? I'm not sure anything BUT a veil would look nice with my dress. This decision is a HUGE issue with me. Wearing a veil seems more Bride-ish to me :bride: But some of those really pretty headpieces with the feathers and crystals look just as elegant and beautiful....H-E-L-P ME!!!!! :scared: What will look good with my dress/on me?

Garter:

We aren't doing any kind of garter toss so is it necessary to have one?:confused3 Is there some kind of other tradition behind it or bad luck to not wear one?

Ok i think i've given you all enough to help me out with. I'm just so confused and there is only so much DF wants to hear about or know. I'm relying on you girls for help!:grouphug:

:lmao:You just have yourself all worked up this morning don't you?!?:lmao:
Have no fear your DISbrides will give you all the opinions you ever wanted (and even those you never wanted:rotfl:)

First off you asked earlier about getting your room decorated at Disney... I believe the easiest way is to order it through Disney florist... www.disneyflorist.com I recently spent a bunch of time on the site because they have a bunch of pre-made centerpieces that you can choose from- check it out!

Jewelry: Classic vs Contemporary? Very good question... I think it really just depends on the look you want- I would recommend trying a bunch of different stuff with your dress on and I think it should become pretty clear to you. It will be a pain bc you'll have to return a lot of stuff but will be worth it in the end. I'm thinking about maybe trying to make my jewelry. I did it once before with my mom (we took a little class at a local bead shop) and it was pretty easy. They even had real swavorski crystals there you could use. I think a mix of colored and clear swavorski crystals would look good with your dress.

Headpiece: I personally won't be wearing a veil- just a fresh orchid in my hair but I think a veil would look really nice with your dress. Especially since you think wearing a veil makes you feel bridey:bride: I would go with the veil- you don't want to miss out on that feeling. My vote would be wear a veil for the ceremony and then take it off for the reception. If you want you can put a fascinator in for the reception then you get the best of both worlds- tradition and trend!

Garter: :confused3No idea on this one... I'm in the same situation as you:confused:

pixiedust: Just wanted to sprinkle some pixie dust for a fellow October bride. DH and I got married on 10/16/04 and I don't see to many 10/16 wedding dates! Hope everything goes great for you guys.

Lol you crazy girl...stop posting so I can get some work done!!

I think you need to get an idea of how you envision your wedding. What kind of overall look do you want?

Jewelry- I think the style of your dress leans more toward something classic. BUT if you want to do something unique I think there is definitely stuff out there that is a mixture of both!

How about something like this:

il_430xN.66191285.jpg

Veil- I don't think I am going for one, but I think with your dress you could do something pretty and simple
summer05_veil8a.jpg

BUT Something like this could be fun too!!
MS-MB-9491.jpg

I'm not doing a garter...nor do I see any reason to do one UNLESS you want to do the whole garter dance thing. Up to you :)

Hope I was a help :)

I just got wicked excited thinking about it!!!

I just wanted to quote that lol!

Ok, I agree with Adelia you are all kinds of worked up today! I have a solution though... we'll meet for drinks and shopping (not in that order or else who knows what you would end up with lol)! Seriously, we are picking a day for lunch and bridal shopping!

I think the great thing about Etsy is that you have so many options, and the worst... so many options...:confused3 I love Etsy don't get me wrong, but it sorta bombards me with choices ya know?

I think you should go out and try things on it stores, for jewlery try Macy's jewelry section and play with different options, I think seeing things in person will give you a better idea of what you are looking for. Then you can go on Etsy with a clear head and focus. Does that make sense?

For headpieces head to a bridal shop and try things on, see what you lke and get ideas that way.

For a garter, its up to you. If you wear one you could use it in pics, but other then that no one will really notice it ya know? So if you don't want it, I say skip it. Personally, I am not doing a garter toss, but still want pics with a hot pink garter, so I am wearing it for that:goodvibes

HTH Katie!

my turn! :rotfl:

Jewlery:
You have a fabulous gown..i personally think classic crystal like jewels will loook drop dead gorgeous on you.
I think the elgance of the classic look will just drip pretty with that dress

Veil or not:

I agree as above...go for both! during the ceremony use a veil and then for after get a pretty headpiece....or you could get a lovely tiara kind and get a veil that goes below your hair and flows, that way its easy to pull out after the ceremony (if that makes any sense)

Garter:
:thumbsup2 go for it....even if you arent doing it during the reception..it might be fun for later :rotfl2:
..seriously though its still a cute idea in theory...df and i arent doing that at our reception either but i still want to wear one for fun

OMG you don't even know!!!:lmao: I totally gave myself a massive headache this morning, between veils and jewelry.. oh man i was a mess!!!

I think i'm going to try and do both a small headpiece with a plain veil. I found some pictures of what i mean that i'll post once i get home from work!

I think i might wear a garter just to fun, and i think i'm definatly going to have to buy and return lots of jewelry!:rotfl:

pixiedust: Just wanted to sprinkle some pixie dust for a fellow October bride. DH and I got married on 10/16/04 and I don't see to many 10/16 wedding dates! Hope everything goes great for you guys.

Awe thanks for the Pixie dust! I can always use it! Did you get married in Disney? We love the date... something about it sounds good to us!:cloud9:

Mandy I love that necklace!!! Where did you find it?!?!

I love that veil too... do you think it would be too much to have a fingertip length veil? I dont want a really short one or a really long one so this seems like the length to go with.

I just wanted to quote that lol!

HTH Katie!

Ya know what i think it is... i feel like i should be doing ALOT more wedding stuff than i actually am. So i start thinking of little things i can do here and there and before i know it my mind explodes!!! :rotfl2:

I think a garter in some fun pictures would be cute. I think i'm going to wear one!
I'm probably going to try and find some bridal shops in my area to get ideas. And we should DEFINATLY meet up for some drinks! I think we could use a DISbride meet/drink!

my turn! :rotfl:

..seriously though its still a cute idea in theory...df and i arent doing that at our reception either but i still want to wear one for fun

Meghans turn, Meghans turn!!! :lmao:

Thanks for the nice comment about my dress hun! I think that if i do something too contemporary it'll take away from the gown so i think you and Mandy are right on this one!

I'm definatly leaning towards doing both veil and head piece... just have to find ones i like!

And i'm glad someone else doesn't like the whole garter throwing thing either. DF hates it and thinks it stupid/tacky which i mostly agree! Call me a snot but i don't like it :snooty:

Well thank you girls so much for your help!:grouphug: This is why i love my DIS brides! You're the best! I leave work at 2:30 and then i'm running to the grocery store once i get home i'll post some hair styles i like!:lovestruc

Awe thanks for the Pixie dust! I can always use it! Did you get married in Disney? We love the date... something about it sounds good to us!:cloud9:

No we didn't but we are celebrating our 5th anniversary a month early by going in Sept 09. Free Dining and all! woot! I have't been since '88 and DH has never been so I am hoping he will be a convert.

The date is also great 4 us since it is 10 days after my b-day so he has no reason to forget either lol.:woohoo:

Wow it has been a while!!! Free dinning is the best! DF and I always get the meal plan and it works out great for us! Oh and if i can convert DF AND get him to agree to a disney wedding i think you can convert your DH!:cutie: Good luck!

Ok so here are some hairstyles that I like and would look good with both a headpiece and veil:cloud9:

WeddingHairStyle2.gif

I like this and i actually saw some stephanotis hair clips with rhinestones in the middle of them on Etsy. I like the idea of having the veil come out from underneath the half up part.

Long20Wedding20Hair20Styles20002.jpg

I absolutly LOVE this style and the flower. I think its stunning.

half_up_flower_veil-mediuminit_.jpg

This is my hands down favorite! I wish the picture was larger because this is EXACTLY what I want. Lovely white flowers in the hair with the veil coming from underneath the half up part. :lovestruc

What do you girls think?

Ohh I love the one with the rhinestone!!! But I think it's too much with the necklace I picked out (from ETSY!!) ;)

Seriously love that hair though!!

How about that hair with something like this:

Celeste-Mirror-Post-Card.jpg

This one is a bit pricey, but it was more for effect than to purchase. I am sure you can buy it cheaper somewhere else. Search for back drop necklace.

Oo0o0o0o0o I like that!!!! I think now that i have some what of an idea on what i want i can attempt etsy again. This time i'm make my search more specific and not just "wedding". I think 47658 pages of wedding stuff is too much for even the most easy going bride to handle!!

I'm so behind on your PJ!!!!! I need to go back and catch up. I vote for the last hair pic!!! I like the big flower!!

I REALLY love the very first necklace that Mandy posted! I think that would look stunning with your dress! The back drop necklace is really cool too- that would look good with your dress because it has that bit of a v in the back!

Angela!!!! I've been reading your TR alittle everyday... sorry i haven't posted on it yet... I want to make sure i'm all caught up. :goodvibes

I love the last hair pic too.... I might try do to that with maybe the rhinestone from the second pic. I think the rhinestone headpiece will look better with my dress. :lovestruc

I like that necklace too. I'm going to have to find something similar to that style. I like that its alittle bit traditional and alittle bit contemporary. :thumbsup2

come on now there are only 39,296 items under wedding
you can handle that

:rotfl:
:scared1:

I'm alittle board and DF is napping on the couch:rolleyes: so i figured i'd share some pictures of the new bathroom with you girls. I'm very proud of it because we did this all by ourselves, saved a ton of money doing it, and we had a good time together while doing it. I was worried that we'd get annoyed with each other and bicker the whole time but it was a pleasant surprise how well we did!:goodvibes

I dont have any before pictures because... well... it was too hideouse. To give you a visual, the tub was "almond" in color, the toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned in 10 years, the sink was bright pink, and they painted it in a silver textured paint with Black *yes i said black* sponge blots everywhere. It was lovely..... a real shame it wasn't showcased on HGTV! :lmao:

So here is the new and GREATLY improved bathroom!!!
bathroom001.jpg

DF doing work... not really wanting to smile for pictures but i made him anyway!:cutie:

bathroom002.jpg

I got yelled at for taking this picture... apparently the wire was "live" and he thought the flash was him getting shocked... oops:rolleyes1

bathroom003.jpg

The new shower faucets and AMAZING shower rod!!! We didn't know these exhsisted until after staying at AKV!:rotfl2:

bathroom007.jpg

Heyyyyy... is that a Toby in the picture???.... It is!!!!

bathroom008.jpg

I love my new "rain" spout!

bathroom010.jpg

Five star flushing power!!!! :rotfl:

bathroom011.jpg

No more PINK!!!:goodvibes Don't you LOVE the faucet???!!!

bathroom009.jpg

Ahhhh... finished!!!!

Ok well thats our bathroom! We ordered new kitchen countertops at homedepot on Monday because... well... we were bored!! So we're moving into the kitchen :woohoo: We already have new stainless steel appliances, we just need to paint, put in new lighting, and the countertops... should be easy... right??

Your bathroom looks great!!!! Congrats on doing it yourself.....we would never accomplish that :rotfl:

ps...the dog in the pic is soooooo adorable!!

Katie love the bathroom!!!

I am in NYC on work and we keep stopping in these little jewelry stores. The kind with rows and rows of "cheap" jewelry. Anyway, I have found like 10 necklaces that I keep thinking of you and your dress!! I may just come home with one for you!!
