Adam and Katies 10/2/2010 SBP/Attic/?? ~ brainstorming!

hey, i'm new on your journal. First let me say congrats. I want to say that I totally agree with everyone on the starfish accents its really cute. Sorry you guys had a fight that always sucks. I think your compromises are a great solution. I'm impressed that your DF went on the Disney Wedding site, he is obviously trying very hard to make it perfect for you both :goodvibes

Have you considered registering through Disney? We aren't getting presents we are getting money towards the honeymoon. We don't really have the money to have what we want for our honeymoon and don't need a bunch of extra stuff. You might want to consider registering for extras on your honeymoon. They can choose from small things like figures or ears to big things like dolphins in depth. just a thought. (sorry if that sounds like an advertisement for Disney registry..)
Oh and my shower isn't a surprise either, you can do them cheaply. I don't want an expensive one so I’m just having it in my moms house and she is cooking. Simple is sometimes better. Save money for the wedding.

Hope all is well today

Ok first of all the invitations I found are here:
http://paperpersuasions.com/

And second of all, it sounds like you guys got everything set up last night. It's probably good you had that talk and are on the same page with everything. I think your plans sound wonderful and are what you ultimately wanted anyway.

Does this mean you get to start shopping for your after wedding dress???

Oh and yay for AKV! We loved staying there!!

That's good you and DFi sat down for a pow-wow. The last thing you need your wedding to do is drive a wedge between you and DFi.

I think a meal inside one of the Epcot restaurants would be great. You could use the Tables in Wonderland card and save some money. You'll definitely have fun.

And I just want to preface this by saying that no matter what you do will be magical and fun, etc, etc. But you do still have a really long time until the wedding. A lot could happen in a year + ...so I wouldn't write things like a DP off just yet. There is a lot of time to save money. Now the reason I say this is because my DP was the best part of my wedding. However, I am close with my family and I get the impression that your DFi is not close at all with his family and doesn't want to spend time with them. So I understand not wanting to waste money being with people you don't care for.

I also stayed at Beach Club Villas for 8 nights. Now staying on the Boardwalk was convenient but if I were pressed for cash, in order to throw the DP, I would have stayed the minimum 4 nights at BVC and then moved somewhere cheaper so that money could go toward the DP.

Just my two cents. I know you and DFi will have a blast doing "just the two of us" things. I would just advise not making big decisions in stone so far out. So much of my wedding was not decided on until 6-3 months beforehand. The wedding I envisioned a year + out was at Sunset Point, with me wearing a pink sun dress, and then dinner at Ohana. Obviously, a lot changed!

Yes, they are the earrings that Vin bought Jenny ( I suggested them to her :goodvibes)

It's good that you and Adam sat down to talk things out, being on the same page makes things easier. Although whatever you do is your choice and whatever you decide will be wonderful and beautiful. But I have to agree with Katie that a lot can change over the course of a year. My wedding planner in PR made me choose so many things so quickly at a little over a year before the wedding and I do like my selections, but looking back I wish I had a bit more time to think about it and hadn't let her push DFi and I since we are locked into some of the things and can not change them. But I know it will be wonderful. Just don't write anything off and see what happens.

Welcome to my crazy PJ! :cool1:
I was thinking about doing the disney registry... its definatly and option! thanks!

I still can't find those invitations... where are the invitations on that site? apparently i'm clueless.
Yes this means i get to start looking for an "after wedding" dress! :thumbsup2
I wicked excited about AKV! It really is my favorite! i can't wait to be there again! And we still will be staying somewhere new because we're still going to move to BWV for the disneymoon.

I think i'm clueless here too please excue my ignorance... but what is the tables of wonderland card? :confused3
I really hope that he'll change his mind on the DP or the fireworks cruise. I understand his point of view too and that his family is being a tad rediculouse about the whole thing but i would like to do it for US. But we'll see. I totally agree that things could and probably will change by the time the wedding starts getting closer but i think for the most part that we're on the right track and it feels good! :thumbsup2

Awe you did?! I love those earrings i'm soooo sending them to DFi for alittle hint as to what i want! :goodvibes
I totally agree with you and Katie. I think that its kind of a good thing that we can't book until 8 months out... i have tons of time to change my mind! :rotfl:
I'm not going to write anything off just yet... i think this $$$$ makes DFi nervous, it makes me nervous too, so for now we'll discuss the wedding ceremony and meal after... once we get an estimate on those two parts, maybe I can bring it back up and see what his thoughts are. :goodvibes

So i did it!! I didn't chicken out and i bought three things! :woohoo:

I bought those shoes and i have my sister getting me the pink rhinestones from her work!
I bought the earrings i posted!
And
Drum roll please........

I bought the white starfish orchid that Mandy posted as my hair piece!

for 63$ (that includes shipping) i got shoes, headpiece, and earrings... i think thats pretty darn good! :thumbsup2

I'm so happy for you that you and Adam hashed things out, dear!! It's good to try and nail down some of the basics, 'cause then you know what you're working with. ::yes:: The dessert party and fireworks cruises seem completely beautiful, but I know if I was having my wedding at WDW that I would probably pass on them. The only reason would be so that DF and I would have more money for our honeymoon too! If you have the money to do it all, then by all means! Otherwise... it's just sort of spending money that isn't really there.

Also, I think you'd both be wise to stay at AKV if you prefer it! You two should stay where you'll be happy and comfortable! Nearby conveniences are always a plus too! :cutie:

You guys do have plenty of time, so I know you'll get it all figured out. And no matter what you decide on, it will be gorgeous and amazing!

I'm glad we're not the only one who would opt out of the DP/fireworks cruise. If we had the money then we would but every little bit of moula is coming from us so we're trying to use that money as wisely as possible :thumbsup2

I'm starting to not stress out as much and just remember that no matter what it'll be the best day ever :lovestruc

Glad to hear that you and DF worked some things out. My DF feels the same way about DPs...Why pay for something that you can do for free (watch fireworks) AND why pay $20 +/person for food-when you can go and get everyone a treat of their choice for less.
He makes a good point...but man do I hate it when the boys are right!!! :rotfl:

I know!!!! Stupis boys!!!! .............. :rotfl2:

I'm glad i'm not the only one with an over budget conciouse DFi!
They mean well but they need to lighten up sometimes!

Can i join in on the budget conciouse DF's group! haha!!

They DO mean well, and i suppose its great that they are there to say 'hold up, thats too much money' ect but ya know- like you said they need to lighten up a bit.

Its great that Adam did that- its little things like that that make your heart go all warm and it shows that they really do care! :lovestruc Its very thoughtful of him to do something simple like that because it makes a big difference. And- you got loads planned out so thats great (i can never get DF to sit down and talk weddings for more than half an hour!)

Oh I am so excited you bought the starfish flower!!! YAY! I can't wait to see it!

I found those invitation son her blog...but you know, Lauren and I thinking of making invitations and selling them on Etsy. We could do starfish invites for you!

Of course you can join Stace! :rotfl2:

They absolutly mean well but i am going to agree with DFi on this.. i think our guests would rather be treated to a full dinner than a DP. DFi's dad is like a steak feind and my whole family loves seafood (hence the options being coral reef and le cellier! :cutie: ) we aren't really "sweets" people. so i'm starting to become ok with this. :thumbsup2

OMG I KNOW!!!! I'm so excited to get it! :goodvibes once i get everything i'll take pics of it and show you all! I know that you're really not suposed to show your DF's but i showed mine the starfish orchid and the crystal starfish and asked which one he liked better and he said the orchid which was what i was leaning more towards anyway! :lovestruc

You girls are so crafty! that would be awesome to get on etsy and make invitations... let me know when you plan on it! :thumbsup2

im glad you bought the stuff :thumbsup2 its tottally worth it!!

sometimes i wish i had a more budget friendly FI :sad2: we arent paying for the wedding..my parents are for the most part...he continues to say his family will help (im still waiting) so he doesnt see a problem when we wants random stuff...im like no way am i asking my parents to pay for that and he gets all grumpy ... i have to be the one that says no....
...so coming from the opposite side its nice to see that he cares about the money issue..because down the line you will be happy lol....

and when you think about it im sure there will be small touches you will be able to add inexspensively when the time gets closer

Yea that can be frustrating meghan.... wedding funds are hard to deal with.

I'm thinking that i'll make little welcome bags and i'll put in glow sticks with a little note that tells them that they're to be used at illuminations. kind of like what Katie did! I wasn't going to do welcome bags but i think little ones with the park maps, glow sticks, and maybe some snacks in it will be nice.

I still need to find out what the tables in wonderland thing is all about.... anyone care to explain??

o0o0o0o good to know!!! Thanks Mandy! That'll definatly save us some dough!

I also just got an email back from the people who we are renting points from and they also own at AKV so we are all set!!! goodbye BLT hello AKV!

thats awesome you will still be able to have them book at the 11 month mark!!

and think by doing the welcome bags you can have a little fun with disney stuff even though you wont be in the parks ;)

I'm not sure if the disney store would have the maps, but I found these online.

These are just PDFs, but you may be able to get creative with them:
http://themouseforless.com/tripplanning/wdwmaps.shtml

These are (nicer) ones you can get through Disney not sure how many you can get, or how much they would cost, it says it's "Free", but if you order them there may be a cost.
http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/myVacation/customizedMaps/index?id=CustomizedMapsSampleMapsPage
edit: You can only order one per family every six months of the nice once, but it gives you the option to print them.

Maybe you can contact Guest Services, or your WC to see if they will send you some.
