Action shots taken on rides!

I want to take some pictures/video of my daughter while I’m on the rides with her. Is this ok or will I get in trouble
-For Dumbo I want to be in elephant in front of her turn around and take some.
-Tea cups have my daughter across from me
-Cindy’s Carousel I wont ride but I’ll stand by her…ect and some other outdoor rides.
-maybe a video on Everest?
Not interested in anything indoors because I love to use only natural light.

If anyone has some inspiring photos of their kids on the aforementioned ,Please share...along with any tips

You should be fine. Just don't stand up or use flashes on dark rides.

I get a lot of mine from just holding the camera out and shooting the kid next to me. I go wide and use a high shutter speed. Sometimes I miss. Sometimes I don't. I love the cost free shooting of digital.

I never seem to be able to get a good reaction shot of the kids on The Rockin' Roller Coaster. I may have to get a camera that does ISO 6400 and use an f/1.0 lens.

Oh, be very careful putting your camera up to your eye on fast rides (like coasters) or jerky rides (like the safari ride). It might be OK with a lightweight camera like the Olympus, but I've got a big, heavy brute and I get beaten silly by the darn thing.

I have to say of all my pictures on-ride shots have to be my favorite. Good advice above- for on-ride shots use a wide angle as you can always crop later- either place fast shutter speed is a must- and take LOTS as the keeper rate goes way down at least for me.

Doubt these qualify as 'inspiring' but here you go anyway.

Good advice above.

One thing I might try is on a relatively flat spinny ride like the teacups, is to go with a longer exposure time. If you keep the camera trained on your subject, you might get some interesting motion blur in the background.

I second not putting the camera to your eye while on the ride. I just point and click and what I get I get, cant go wrong with digital.

My DD got her face painted in Toontown before, its across from Mickey and Mini's houses I believe. Maybe Gdad knows another location too.

My camera body and lens are weather sealed. I figured that was probably good enough. I mostly just try to protect the lens from spray so that water droplets don't mess up my pictures.

Weasel words:
Weather seals may be entirely inadequate for dealing with the splashes and soaking that happen on something like Kali River Rapids. It has been established in prior threads that I am more cavalier with my gear than some people think is prudent. The fact that behave as though my weather seals are adequate for the job should not be construed as an implied guarantee that they really are.

I wear a bucket hat when I'm out in the sun all day (like at a Disney park) and on Splash Mountain, I'll shoot on the way down then use the hat to cover the camera. It gets a few drips on it but nothing serious, and no harm done. The next camera will be weathersealed...

My mistake on my one Splash Mt ride of the last trip was that 1) I let some water hit the lens before the big drop, and 2) I forgot to switch to manual focus for the big drop. The camera had a hard time grabbing focus between the quick drop and the water droplets, it did fire off a couple shots but ideally I should have been able to get more, and preferably without the water drops. I was using the fisheye (which has a waterproof coating on the lens) so focusing to infinity should have gotten a depth of field big enough to get most everything in focus.

Now, I'm not sure that my hat would have helped at Universal Studios... we got soaked on Jurassic Park, and we were just about dried out when we went to watch the Waterworld show, and got soaked again!

wow your photos are amazing! what kind of camera do you have and what do you do to make them come out so great. i know nothing of cvameras but i am looking to get a new one to shoot my sonn at tball games so i need "high shutter speed" as you can see i am sooo clueless!

I used it on Splash Mountain with my Rebel XT. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. I put all the shots together and made an animated GIF and this is the result:
