ACT test - how long is it?

My son is scheduled for the June ACT. He also has to plan an overnight hike for that afternoon into Sunday. He is trying to figure out what time he can start his hike. How long are students actually given for the ACT exam?

According to website..

Testing begins after all examinees present by 8:00 a.m. are checked in and seated. A short break is scheduled after the first two tests. For students taking the ACT Plus Writing, a brief break is also scheduled before the Writing Test. Students taking the ACT (No Writing) in standard time rooms are normally dismissed at about 12:15 p.m.; students taking the ACT Plus Writing are normally dismissed at about 1:00 p.m

When I took it with writing I was done about 1:30 because there are breaks in between as well.

It can vary because of start times. She took it in Dec. when it was pretty crowded.

My dd has taken it twice with writing, which adds 30 mins., and she usually is done about 1ish pm.

In the April test - our school got started late - and subsequently went until closer to two. There were many kids from other schools, and it casued issues with not know their way around the school, and too many people got there on time, but had to check in.
