acne?

DD used OTC products with no relieve so i took her to the Dermatologist where she was initially prescribed Acanya and Atralin, now she's using Clindimycin and Retin-A. Her acne appears to respond well but then it comes back with a vengence...haven't quite figured out what works best yet.

Thanks for the tips - actually have never thought about taking her to a dermotologist.

She's probably only had 5 pimple total. The other day I think I saw 3 pinsize white heads. NOTHING major yet.

Just wanted to see what should be put on the nowadays.

Ended up buying a clairsonic to help her wash - she loves it so far (of course its only been used twice)

My sister had bad acne, and after many OTC and then several perscriptions, she ended having to do TWO 6 month treatments of accutane (which is rare, most times it takes only one).

I had lighter acne, and for a long time I used neutrogena, but it used to make me itch, so I use kate somervilles eradikate because it's sulfur based, it does not have Benzoyl peroxide as the active ingredient.

It's a lot of trial and error before you find the right combination of working meds to prevent acne.

Wow, I have never been to a dermatologist, really never even considered it. I had no idea there were so many options...

I'm 36 and have suffered with acne since I was about 12... As a teen my parents did nothing for me, I just had to live with it. As an adult, birth control helped and I began using proactive...

I still use the proactive once a day... and I use Softsoap (antibacterial hand soap) at night to wash my makeup off..

I guess everyone is different, and what works best may take some trial and error... BUT; my one solid piece of advice that I give my own 15 year old all the time (and it was very hard for me to learn to do as well) is tell your teen to STOP TOUCHING HER FACE... once I realized how often I put my hands on my face, and made a conscious effort to stop, the acne subsided tremendously..

Good Luck! :flower3:
