ACK!!! Forgot to bank my points, what should I do?!?!?

My banking deadline was Nov. 30, with Christmas, a baby, etc. I COMPLETELY forgot. I would think they would send out a reminder or something but I got nothing!!! Anyway, I now have 70 points that I am going to lose if not used by May 31. We were not planning our next trip until Sept. 16-23 (our AP expires 9/24).

What should I do? I would love to be able to find someone that would be willing to just trade out the points. Someone that's going to use 70 before 5/31 could have mine & transfer 70 points that aren't due to expire into my account and we could simply transfer our points. I don't think it's likely for me to find someone willing to do that.

What is my other option? Should I try to rent out my points ASAP and then turn around & rent points and have them transferred into my account? I would just have to make sure that they are not due to expire by 9/30 - right? I've never done this before, there needs to be a book DVC for Dummies - I'd be the 1st to buy. Anyone have any thoughts???

Have you already banked into your '06 UY? November 30 may have been your 100% banking deadline, but you may still be in your 50% banking deadline.

I've never rented or traded, but I've read that they have been good options for members.

You might try calling MS and plead your case. They have been known to grant a once-in-a-lifetime-double-secret exemption from the banking policy in the past. There have been a number of reports here of random acts of kindness from MS regarding situations like this and the worst that could happen is that they'd say no. Reportedly, this is an unpublished "perk" and will be added to your permanent record - so it's not likely to be allowed a second time, but would definitely be worth a try for that many points.

Otherwise, renting your points may be your best option.

Since you have a June UY, you are still in your 50% banking window until Feb 28th.

How large is your contract? If it's over 140 points and you haven't banked anything yet, they you may still bank all 70 points.

You really can't just 'trade' points with someone else. MS allows you to transfer points, but only in one direction in a given year. So if you transferred some points out to someone else, you couldn't receive any transfers in. Likewise, if they received points in, then they couldn't transfer out.

Doc! Thanks for the advice. I called MS and they did make a one time exception . I don't think I'll forget this again, I'm gonna go ahead and mark it on my calendar for Nov. just in case I need to bank any points. Thanks again!!!

but regarding your post where you said you didn't get a banking reminder, just wanted to see if you receive the Vacation Magic newsletter thru email? That's how I get my banking reminder. I think they mention the banking reminder towards the end of the email.

I think you need to have an account at dvcmember website, and make sure to check on the email preferences setup of your Profile. Make sure that "Disney Vacation Club - Vacation Magic E-mail Update Online Newsletter and other communications including special offers" is checked.

Aside from the banking reminders, they also mention about any new promo they have for us DVC members. hope this helps!

I am set up on DVC member website but we had changed our internet provider several monthes ago and I just realized that I had not updated my new e-mail address. Thanks for reminding me of that. Thanks everyone for the advice. You guys are the BEST!!!
