Accident on Pirates?

I like how the Reedy Creek employee made sure he quoted the guy saying it was his own fault.

I don't see how his hand could have been up-people do this on almost every boat.

While it looks like it was his own fault, I still have some sympathy we all do little stupid things now and then sometimes we get away with it sometimes we don't. This guy will now be stuck thinking of a split second stupid decision every time he looks at his hand.

What could be sharp enough to slice fingers off clean? I could see if your hand/fingers got crushed, but sliced off?

Several outlets are reporting an accident on Pirates involving a child. If reports are correct, the child may have placed his/her hands in the water and lost a finger at the bottom of a down ramp.

My husband just heard a bit of it on the news on NBC last night, 7/10/14. He said it was something about a guest on POC who lost his fingertips on the ride. We wondered how do you do that on a ride as calm as POC??? I guess you could if you had your hands outside the boat at some point. I guess we need to listen when the cm says to keep all hands, legs, etc, in the boat at all times! I hope it is nothing more than fingertips, which is bad enough! Sorry, he did not hear the whole thing!:(

Not that hard to guess what may have done it while fingers near water. Boat, meet guiderail.

Been following the entire thread. First off, would any of the perfect parents out there care to raise mine for a bit? I think we do a pretty good job but they still made some questionable choices. Dd even reached out of the boat to splash me while we were on Splash Mountain this week. She is 14 and incredibly intelligent. To be honest, I didn't think anything of it!
Second, I almost want to believe this isn't true based on Andrea Finger and the Daily Mail stating "Trip cut short". Seriously?!?! :rotfl:

Well, I have some sympathy for the guy admitting it was his fault. I have no sympathy for people that do stupid stuff and then sue.

Sometimes you just don't think fast enough. I know on BTMR if I start sliding over towards my friend I automatically put my hand on the side of the car to hold on. Then I realize and put it back in. It's not really intentional, just a split second reaction.

This is all just bringing back painful memories for me. Door-meet-finger moment at 11 (not "sliced clean off" but nearly! everyone was surprised that the nail grew back, though the nail is weird, the bone is *right there* and the finger is shorter, and I can tell if the weather is going to change by the ache in my fingertip) and table-meet-toe moment when I was 28ish. (don't move furniture while wearing sandals, that's my advice from that!)

Ouch ouch ouch.

Lets hope it isn't his finger he used on the turn styles to enter the park, if so he might not get back in.

Or her could take his finger in a plastic bag... "...Honestly this is MY magic band and finger..."

Hardest laugh I've had all day.

I am sorry am i missing something..... I have been on POTC hundreds of times.....at what point in the ride is the side of the boat slamming into a wall?

I think there are times it slams into the railings keeping the boat moving, the railings are under the water, just like its a small world. Must have got his fingers caught between boat and that guide railing.
