Accident on Pirates?

Now that we think we know that the "victim" was an adult, I have a request.

All of the people who have never EVER taken their eyes off their kids for half a second, whose kids have never done anything stupid within your presence, whose kids are the 100% model of perfection every hour of every day.......could you please tell me how you do it? I bow down to your greatness.

I have eyes on the back of my head, they have chips inserted in them so I know where they are every second, I also have adorned them with a device that will slap them every time they do or say anything wrong.

That is how it is done. :thumbsup2

Seriously, I give my kids values and morals that is all I can do as a parent. :lovestruc

Considering how pirates works and your hands don't need to do anything. Either he was injured in a rube Goldberg style series of events that Disney managed to fix and make safe Witham a hour of happening OR he was doing something he shouldn't.

Page five and we have a link!

I'm sorry someone got so hurt on vacation. Whether he was doing something foolish or not, I don't care. It's a crummy thing to have happen.

I'm going with the second thing.

Yep. Precisely my point. 5 pages before any of the posters had any idea of just what it was they were freaking out about.

While it was not officially confirmed for a few hours there was almost nothing that was incorrect about the news.

Ride-correct
injury-correct
ride closed-correct
age-while technically incorrect the maturity level was probably right there

To be fair we now need five pages of complaining about how adults these days are so irresponsible and are not acting like adults used to.

No kidding. NO confirmed report with information regarding the person involved, the type of injury sustained, the age of the person, or anything else substantive. But 5 pages of ranting about neglectful parents and moaning that it wasn't the parents fault. But don't let facts get in the way of rampant speculation.

Carry on.
Exactly. It was like this on several boards. People need to stop conjecturing on what was essentially no information until something verifiable comes out. Once the verifiable came out the incident is still unfortunate and I hope he's ok but it shows how mangled the truth had become and how wrong the conjecture was. Even though ideas sound face valid ( I.e the five pages of conjecture) they may still be very wrong and have to actual validity. The lesson, wait until something is known.

You may be right but all the authorities are saying is they don't know the cause so we now have to wait until the causes are determined.

This I agree with. To me that sums up what we all should be feeling at this moment. This man has had a very unfortunate injury on vacation that will cause lasting problems for him throughout his life. That's a sad thing regardless of cause.

I was actually hoping that we could continue arguing about the legitimacy of the OP.:lmao:

I feel for the guy. I really hope he had trip insurance or really really good medical coverage. Most medical insurance doesn't cover things that happen when you are out of your home country.

I hope they were able to retrieve the portions that were cut off and have the reattached.

I'll start. Just kidding. Kind of.

Sucks for the guy, but seriously... Follow the rules people. You're a grown man for crying out loud. Do you really need to put your hands in the water? Grow up. I may sound harsh, but follow the rules. A kid sticking hands in the water is one thing, an adult is entirely different.

I see kids sticking their hands in the water on It's a Small World almost every time we ride it. Mom and dad sitting right there. I cringe every time and just pray no one loses a finger.

Can't help but wonder if the accident had anything to do with the new boats everyone is complaining about.

I wondered the same thing.
I don't believe that it was confirmed that the injury came from the hand being in the water. Just that there was an injury to the hand.

Depends. Do these new boats turn you into a rule breaking dumba$$?

If the guy indeed stuck his hand in the water then I could care less if he lost finger, fingers, or an entire arm. Sad thing is he'll probably sue.

It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to know you keep your hands in the vehicle at all times! :)

I am thinking they were shot off by a cannon ball.
