Accident on Pirates?

makes sense, they all do seem to be outside rides, didn't think of that.

It currently shows a 70 minute wait for POC...so looks to be open again?

Is 70 minutes normal for PoC? Man, I don't think I've ever waited more than 10 minutes.

If the ride is open now, I'm going to say nothing major happened. I can't imagine they would re-open any ride where a child lost a finger.

I was thinking the same. I have no idea what the actual rules and regulations are, but I would think it would take longer to clean up a biohazard, especially with that much water involved.

Give me a break. Seriously...have you no human empathy? Gross.

Bulletin! You do not have to be "ignoring" your child for your young child to suddenly and impulsively do something you did not expect - like running into the street, jumping off something, leaning back in a chair, hitting someone, or - yes! imagine! - reaching over the side of a boat. (And if your child, like two of mine, has ADHD, they'll do things like this even more often.)

Accidents happen. Not because society has gone to hell in a hand basket and all parents are crap (because accidents are a totally new thing, that just started happening in the last few years). If anything, most the parents I know are OVERLY attentive, hovering over their children. But kids' brains aren't fully developed yet and they do stupid, reckless stuff that you can't always anticipate.

My daughter got her arm squashed between the canoe and the dock at Disneyland when she was 6 or 7. She was sitting right next to me (the rows only hold 2). I was watching the CM give instructions on how to row when it happened. Thankfully I was able to push the boat away from the dock enough that she wasn't injured, but for a moment, it felt like my heart stopped. And we are very attentive parents. Anyone who thinks they can prevent every little thing like this is fooling themselves.

My friend is in the park today. 7DMT came back online but closed again because of lightning in the area. So I imagine lots of other outdoor attractions are also closed. But she confirms POTC was closed for some time.

Idk they have opened rides the day after someone has died on them. I don't think WDW has a length of time to close due to respect. I would think hours closed would be enough to close, clean, inspect and evaluate. But I have no realistic clue never having to do it.

FWIW easywdw only has a 20 minute wait now.

Guys, we've had a unconfirmed rumour, nothing substantial, just a load of Chinese whispers.

So before we blame, the kid, the parents, Disney, god, whoever. Lets see if anything actually happened and if so what.

An unconfirmed rumor is more than enough for all of the perfect parents to pile in here and puff their chests.

I know we don't know what happened but....WHO lets their child lean over far enough to get their hand in the water????

We just got back from a 10 day trip and I saw a lot of little hands going into the water on various rides. The CM's do not make kids sit in the middle past a certain age and some parents just don't seem to care or realize the danger.

Hope the kid is OK.

Unfortunate accident but I am somewhat relieved to hear that a child wasn't involved.

Probably trying to drink the water...

"Hey Lisa! Drink the water! No Bart!"

The internet has made the Telephone Game a thousand times more entertaining than before. Hilarious the misinformation and assumptions made here.

No kidding. NO confirmed report with information regarding the person involved, the type of injury sustained, the age of the person, or anything else substantive. But 5 pages of ranting about neglectful parents and moaning that it wasn't the parents fault. But don't let facts get in the way of rampant speculation.

Carry on.

Uhm. :confused3...it was an adult people. Get your story straight. LOL :coffee:

Now that we think we know that the "victim" was an adult, I have a request.

All of the people who have never EVER taken their eyes off their kids for half a second, whose kids have never done anything stupid within your presence, whose kids are the 100% model of perfection every hour of every day.......could you please tell me how you do it? I bow down to your greatness.
