Kali River Rapids at Disney's Animal Kingdom was closed earlier today, May 29, after an incident that injured five Walt Disney World guests and an employee. The water ride's flumes stopped as they were traveling up a steep incline, triggered by a sensor. An evacuation of the ride followed at about 10:20 a.m. A platform that helps transfer guests from the ride to the exit stairs malfunctioned during the evacuation. Injuries were minor, such as bruises and neck and back pain, but all involved were transported to a hospital to be treated. The injured people included three teenagers, one 21-year-old and two people in their 40s. After being tested, the malfunctioning evacuation platform was removed, and Kali River Rapids was reopened. An alternate evacuation process will be used if necessary.
