We have breakfast at Akershaus in Epcot before the park officially opens. Is it acceptable for me to put something in line to meet Anna and Elsa before the breakfast starts? Or, should someone be out there sitting in line the entire time? Once the breakfast is over, but before the park opens someone would definitely be sitting out there until it is our turn.

Otherwise my plan is to send someone out there as soon as one of us is done.

Thanks!

One person in your party must be in line at all times.

There has to be a person there. What would you possibly put there to hold your place? A lawn chair? LOL. But no, it has to be a person.

Thanks. I was going to put a backpack out there. One of us will just eat fast!

That backpack would probably get placed in lost and found faster than you can say it. Or better yet taken into custody as a suspicious package. LOL. I doubt they would leave a backpack just lying around no matter where it was.

A lone backpack is taken extremely seriously at Disney. I was eating lunch one time at a cs place and all of a sudden the place was swarmed with serious men (I forget how they were dressed.)

They cleared everyone out until they had determined that the abandoned backpack was safe. I watched it. It was pretty amazing.

Yep, just like at an airport CMs are instructed to call security if they see any suspicious and/or unattended items.

While I was working at Epcot I even had a guest come up to me and report a backpack she saw hidden in some bushes along the WS Lagoon. Before security could even make it over the owner of the bag came to retrieve it. Apparently they had just put it there for safe keeping... :lmao:

What makes me sad about this post is that the OP is planning to rush through a character meal, for which they are paying an expensive price, to stand in line for another character.

Maybe I'm not as "commando" as most Disney-goers, but what happened to just enjoying the moment? I realize the Frozen characters are the "in" characters now, but watching your child interact with the classic princesses at Akershus is a sweet experience, too. I would hate to miss that while I was so worried about scarfing down my food and rushing to stand in line.

Can't you just see the characters next time, maybe when the lines aren't so crazy?

We're in just about the same boat as OP. We'll be heading into the Anna/Elsa line as soon as we finish with breakfast at Akershus. My dd's are so in love with Anna and Elsa that it's a must do. I didn't think of sending someone over early.

whether its a meet and greet, a parade, fireworks, whatever. someone must be there to hold a place in line.

when we stayed at Yacht and Beach club. there is actually aa kind of "rope drop" to get into Stormalong Bay (same is true at the pool at Vero Beach resort)... people line up to get in as soon as it opens and pick their spots (lounge chairs, tables with umbrellas, etc.)

there was a backpack at one of the entrances, when the CM/lifeguard showed up shortly before opening, he just told my husband and another fellow to just move it to the side. about 5 minutes before they opened, the backpack guy came back and said "hey! I saved that spot!". the CM informed him that since he wasn't there, he did NOT save the spot. boy was he ticked!:rotfl:

FYI, the CMs are allowing spot holders for *some* characters (the Frozen meet and Merida) but not most. As for parades and fireworks, there is no fail proof seat saving. If you try to hold spots for your group, someone willing to sit and wait can take them, and the CMs will side with them (as they should).

Just thought I would update that we had a nice breakie and I walked out at 8:55 to stand in line. I am the 4th person here. I got to see all the princesses and have a nice meal. Totally recommend doing this to anyone in the same boat. Win win.

At 9:02 there were a bunch of others in line.

Sounds like a great start to a magical day! Enjoy! pixiedust:

Hey don't laugh. Here in Northeastern PA lawn chairs are used to hold parking spots when we get snow. U park on the street (public parking) in front of someones house around here when it snows u will prob come back to no tires. You should see the creative stuff used in scranton for holding ur spot in front of ur house in the winter! lol

Sorry. when i read this thats all i thought of.

+1

yup sad. there is always next time. even when they aren't "in" anymore they will still be popular with young girls. Belle still is. . . Ariel . . . you get the point.

I live in NEPA (Dunmore) and a few of my neighbors have cones in their parking spots this morning.

When OP posed the question, I thought of the practice on cruise ships and all-inclusives of people getting up at sunrise and putting towels on chairs to "save" them. I imagined walking up to the meet-and-greet and finding a line of beach towels on the sidewalk. :rotfl:
