Morning all,

We now only have 4 days until the end of the month (and again my trip ) and some great progress being made my all! Congrats to ShannyMcB for reaching purple, to Raya, Twilight Sparkle and the Team for hitting pink and to myself for reaching my goal and hitting green!



Next up on our adventure into acceleration is the 3rd fastest ride in all of the Disney Parks... Tron Lightcycle Run!

Inspired primarily by the second Tron film, Tron: Legacy, the ride reaches a top speed of 59.3mph (95.4km/h). The motorbike style ride vehicles were developed by Disney Imagineering as a way of specialising the rider experience, and the ride itself was then given a Tron theme because of how these ride vehicles resembled the lightcycles in Tron: Legacy.

The ride first debuted in Shanghai Disneyland when the park first opened in 2016. The WDW version was announced in 2017 and was to be constructed on a plot of land originally set aside for a WDW clone of the Matterhorn Bobsleds. The WDW version was meant to open in 2021 in time for the 50th anniversary celebrations, however it was delayed until April 2023 due to the pandemic.

The majority of the ride music is a remix of the music composed by Daft Punk for the film, with a remix of Nine Inch Nails included for the Tron: Ares overlay last year.

So what does everyone think of Tron? Despite how terrified i look on the above ride photo (really not photogenic on rides at all ), I really love this ride it's so much fun and the theming is right up my street as Tron: Legacy is an incredible looking film. I was a little sad to miss the Ares overlay in Shanghai too. Only complaint about this ride which is a common one, is that it is way too short!

I love Tron. Super fun! I've never been able to get into the movie so have only seen a few minutes of it, but I love the ride.

Just realised the end of the month is pretty much upon us, do we have any volunteers to host May?

Also as a bit of a bonus post, I thought I'd sidetrack today slightly and feature the top 4 fastest rides at the Universal parks, for those of you who love Universal too!

1. Velocicoaster - top speed of 70mph (113km/h) in 2.4 seconds

2. The Incredible Hulk Coaster - top speed of 67mph (107km/h) with the launch doing 0-40mph in 2 seconds.

3. Stardust Racers - top speed of 62mph (100km/h) in 2 seconds

4. Hagrid's Magical Creatures - top speed of 50mph (80km/h) in 4 seconds.

How does everyone feel about these rides?

I chickened out on Velocicoaster last trip (I will not be doing that again this time round) and this upcoming trip is my first time at Epic so I WILL be giving Stardust a go.

I used to love the Hulk but skipped it last time just to my motion sickness. Hoping to at least do it once this time. Hagrids I think is phenomenal. Such an amazing ride and so much longer and faster than I expected!

Somehow we always end up at Universal in the rain, so velocicoaster has been down each time by the time we made it over there, and Stardust Racers wasn't a thing last time we went.

Hulk gave me a headache, so I'm a one and done on that one. Not a fan.

LOVE Hagrid's though!!!! It wasn't part of express unlimited pass when we went, or we would have ridden it over and over. Love it so much.

Sorry I haven’t been on the last day or 2 - life got busy
I did get for a 30 minute swim, in an outdoor pool no less! Not a common thing here in Ireland for obvious weather related reasons though some eejits are known for sea swimming no matter how cold it gets . I am NOT one of those people
Anyway all that to say I finished on 1000/700 and I’m hoping it helps the group achieve its green goal. Now I’m going to be a lazy lump and enjoy the sunshine while reading my kindle for an hour before I get the groceries. Just look at that view from my comfy seat. Bliss!
