Absolute cheapest hotel/motel within walking distance?

I'm not a Disney expert or anything, we just had our first trip last march. We were very budget minded and we only used our hotel room for sleeping. We ended up booking the Super 8 on Katella for an insanely cheap rate, I think $45 per night. It was old and worn, but the beds were comfy and the room was clean. It has some very mixed reviews, but the price couldn't be beat, I don't think. Our family walked to the park and back each day.

And that was my first post on the forum! :yay:

The Red Lion... rates on their website with AAA card is $71.00 for 2 queen's. We stayed there last Thanksgiving, the hotel has been updated nicely.

Stay away from the free breakfast...

We have never been before but are going in January. I booked the BWPPI for $82/night (look for the no car discount rate).

Dh and Ds stayed at the Anaheim Plaza and said it was fine. Nothing fancy, but clean and a close walk. They could see the TOT from their room! I got the best rate booking via AAAs website (it was cheaper than booking directly through the hotel, and hotels.com was cheaper than direct booking too - so definitely check around and keep checking every so often in case a cheaper rate crops up).

What is the no car discount? I cannot seem to find that online. I cannot seem to find anything under $115 a night. I am looking for something under $100 a night. I would love to know how to get a hotel for $82!

Anaheim Desert Inn...clean, a bit dated, but $59 a night, deluxe room. :thumbsup2 Right at the crosswalk too...location can't be beat!

I checked the website again for desert inn and bwppi and got prices well over $109 per night. Am I doing someting wrong? Do I need a promo code for lower prices for booking straight though the hotel website? I did a seach and it seems on some travel sites I saw the prices lower way lower ($59-$95 range) than what I am getting quoted on the direct site. I thought that the hotel webpages had the best prices.

I booked the "no car discount" on the BWPPI website. It was in a drop down menu along with the AAA discount and advance booking discounts. Keep looking.

What dates are you wanting to book? If it is a busier time that would explain why the rates are higher.

I tried a few diff. random dates to see if anything changed and I did not see much different. I tried oct 2011 then may and july 2012.

Has anyone ever booked on http://www.hotels-and-discounts.com/ ?

It looks like they have some pretty good rates, at least better than what I seem to be finding. I usually book direct with the websites so I am not sure how these types of sites work.

We are not going until July 2012, I was trying to see if we could go this oct but not sure if we can afford it. I am going crazy trying to find really good rates that are close to dl.

Ok I did a quick look at Desert Inn and Suites, rates are higher in October because of the Halloween crowds and it looks like most of their less expensive rooms are sold out already. The first week of Nov. has some of the $59 rooms available still. In May, the cheapest room looks like it will be $69. Next July I think their cheapest rooms will be around $100. Good luck! Finding the hotel can be such a hassle when you're trying to keep a tight budget.

I thought all the standard rooms were the same prices, I did not realize maybe it is a different room type I am getting. Maybe for summer I am also getting their summer rates or something because all the "cheaper" rooms cannot already be booked! I will have to keep checking I guess for the next couple months. Keeping my eye out for those up and coming promos too! Thanks for the help and reply =)

Take a look at this website:

We are annual passholders and go to DL frequently and always stay at the Super 8 on Katella. It's not the most beautiful place, but it's clean, comfy and under $50 with a free continental breakfast.

We just got back yesterday from a stay at the Super 8 on Katella. The room was fine, clean, etc. The breakfast was just cereal, muffins, plain donuts, toast, juice and cocoa - but was served from 6 am to 9 am. The walk was...long. Not bad for adults, but it would be hard on kids. I pushed mine in a stroller for the walk, and it was too much for me.

We paid about $200 for 3 nights - I didn't make that reservation early, but it was still the cheapest acceptable hotel I could find in the area. I have reservations there for December as well, but I think I'm going to have to look for someplace closer, or explore ART more.

If you can, the Desert Inn and Suites is fine as well - and right across from the pedestrian entrance to DL. If you book early enough, you can get a pretty good rate (they do charge a resort fee and a parking fee, though).

The cheapest within walking distance will be Anaheim Plaza. But remember that you get what you pay for. We stayed there three times a few years ago, but won't stay there anymore, however, I am usually in the minority when it comes to this motel.

I have stayed there a number of times and have never had a problem. They are slowly updating their rooms. There are a LOT worse hotels around believe me
