Above-Ground Swimming Pool - Deck Carpeting

I just had the liner of my above-ground pool replaced and now the deck carpeting looks terrible (old and worn out). This is the kind of pool that has a two-foot indoor/outdoor carpeted deck all around the pool....

Has anyone ever replaced their pool carpeting themselves? I can't believe the price the pool company wants to replace four strips of carpet. Is it really that hard to do? Any tips?
