About to call off my whole trip over the dining UNFAIRNESS

That is not good is it. My advice would be to try again until you get a different operator and then just flat out lie and say theres 4 of you :thumbsup2

I think there is a thread going on at the moment about jiggling your numbers to fit your party into Disney's scatty seating system. I havent read it myself but I hope they dont all come over here and start flaming me! :furious: :furious: :furious: :( :furious: :furious: :furious:

This may be too late to help the OP, but perhaps it will assist others when making ADR's. . . .

When you first phone in to make ADR's, make sure you get the CM's name, so that if you feel you are being mis-informed during the call, you at least have a name to fall back on in the event of problems during the call. My sister used to be a supervising CM, and she always appreciated being alerted to those CM's who might have required some additional training in flexibility or standards/practices. . . . .

OP, have you tried calling back and getting a different CM? We actually had one CM who was a little rude while we were trying to book ADRs for 5 people because "the 4 tops don't seat 5 and the 6 tops are full". When I called back, the second CM booked 5 of us at a table for 4 by adding a seat in the aisle. She said it can be done at some restaurants, but not all of them. The first CM had no clue and wouldn't even try. I think it's all in who you talk to.

One thing I have learned when dealing with Disney Dining is if you get an answer that doesn't make sense, hang up and call back. They have a lot of new people who, often completely unintentionally, give out mis-information. There was a recent post here about someone being told they would have to share their table at V&As; it wasn't true. She called back and got it cleared up.

Don't let it ruin your whole trip!

OP, have you tried calling back. I have had to call back at times also. Its just the nature of customer service or in this case CM's. Not worth getting so upset over, I am sure another call will solve your problem but if you wait too long even that table may be gone. I wouldn't allow one person's mistake dictate your vacation....

Don't let that CM ruin your daughter's trip. Keep calling back until you get what you want. It will work out;)

Call back. I have never heard of any WDW restaurant refusing bookings to parties of 3 because they don't have tables with three chairs.

You know, that's just like saying they can't seat a party of 7 because they only have tables for 8. Must be a newbie CM. Hope you called back.

It's more than that, it's like saying that they can't seat odd-numbered parties because all tables have an even number of chairs. That makes no sense. Call again.

Yes, that is just STOOPID.

Anyway, called back, added a kid, got a table for 4. :rolleyes1

When we where in Disney for free dining 06 we ran into the same problem. Every time we booked for 3 we got denied! Concierge told me to book for 4 and then just say someone didn't show up. That's what we did and it worked. I don't think there is anything wrong with that.:rolleyes1 So i would just call back and book it for 4 the worst is they can say no.

I've been booking for three for years with no problem and I can't think of a single time we weren't seated at a four top. In fact, in August DD is bringing a friend who decided to come after we did our dining reservations. When I called to change them, I was told to just show up - they were all tables for four anyhow.

I agree - in my experience I always "round up" if there is an odd number for meals to prevent 3 adults being squashed onto a table for 2. And I may arrive with one less or one extra. The restaurant staff will always adjust as they go along for party size to maximise revenue. It may just take a little longer to get a table, that's all.
But I always cancel unwanted ADR's - there are many people who don't... and don't get charged for "missing people".

Book for 4 and have fun!

We had to book for 4 at 1900 Park Faire and Crystal Palace as well. When I asked them to change our ADRs to party of 3, they told me it wasn't available and they would have to cancel out our existing ADR. I told them I would just bring "grandma" with instead of cancelling. Yeah, fictional grandma will be getting sick on those 2 dates! It doesn't make sense to me either.

Well, they do base reservations on tables available to accomodate however many people. If they gave you a table for 4, when you only had 3, then is that fair to the person calling after you wanting a table for 4?? Just putting the point across. You are upset now because it directly impacts you but how would you feel if you took a table meant for a family of 4 and this was a "special" thing for them as it is for everyone planning ADR's? That is just the system. You either like it or don't, ya know :) I don't think Disney is being unfair at all. They are keeping a table for 4, a table for 4. It is just the luck of the draw when you call. Keep calling later on as someone may end up cancelling as they did for us to get a CRT breakfast opening, breafast at 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's. All of these weren't available at first, but I kept calling. Sorry, that the date didn't work for you but you won't be the 1st disappointed nor the last with not getting an ADR you want. Just think about the fact that if they seated you at a table for 4 and then someone right after you called and wanted a table for 4. See the other side of it :)

I believe the first party to call that would fit at the table (3 or 4) should get the table.

I'd book for 4. They aren't going to charge you if a 4th doesn't show up!
