About to call off my whole trip over the dining UNFAIRNESS

It is unfair however, to call her poorly trained because she could not book three at a table for four. The dining system WILL NOT ALLOW THIS. It was physically impossible for her to do this. No CM can do this.

This is absolutly true. The way it is set up is that there are tables of 3-4, or tables for 4-5. There are only so many tables available for 3-4. Once those are all booked up we can not book a party of 3 at a 4-5 table. There is no way to do that. Yes it is impossible. There is no judgement call to be made.

Sorry that the CM was rude. I know that is frustrating. I would have said that there were no tables available for your party size and would not not advertised that there were tables of 4 and you can't sit there. There are very strict fire codes that have to comply with and believe it or not, that is the reason we can only book the number of people allowed for each table, no more no less. Every person even the smallest baby is counted.

Personally I have issues with people "bucking" the system by saying they have more guests then they actually do. Does it make sense why they can't put 3 at at 4-5 table? Not really, but there is a reason why they do it.

The OP was not denied a table because they had a party of 3. They were denied because there was not any availablity for their party size. Those tables had already been booked.

On the other hand I am glad you were able to get what you wanted though and enjoy your magical day after all. The pictures of your dd are just precious.

I have never had a single problem making reservations for a party of three (2 adults, 1 kid) on three consecutive trips. Never had a problem making a reservation on property either, once I had arrived in WDW.

It says you haven't been since 2006. Things have changed since then in the reservation department at Disney.

Well for the biggest irony of all...now a good friend of my moms has heard we are going and wants to join our trip (she is single, no kids - loves Disney). So we are very well going to be a party of 4 after all.

How funny that you will be a party of 5 now. Honestly, I would never hesitate to book a table of 4 for 5..........they always put you at a table four anyways. Not a big deal to say someone canceled out. Its happened in real life when one of our party went back to the room or someone slept in and there were less of us. It's just life. If it means making a child happy - no harm done.

At least you won't have to say someone could not make it at the last minute when you check-in for the ADR.

LOL! Proof positive that everything happens for a reason! Have a good trip!

I almost went in Sept. 2007. I had bought the free dining package and airfare. Canceled at the last minute because of illness. Had all my reservations, including lots of good places, and no problem with "three" diners.

Funny thing is that thanks to extensive planning all archived in Excel spreadsheets, I could probably plan up a Sept. trip including dining right now in about four hours.

I read all the way through this thread and cant help but laugh at the stupidity of that CM. I am so glad you ended up getting your ADR. I think its so stupid that you had to pay for a 4th to get it though.
I used to be a restaurant manager and cant believe that they denied you at all. To clear it up for some. 3 tops are almost always seated at a table for 4. Depending on the 3rd party(infant) sometimes they can be accomodated at a table for 2. to say you shouldnt be given a reservation because a party of 4 needs that reservation instead is somewhat in my eyes IGNORANT AS #$$%! The money spends the same so why the heck not cant you get that table. What just because someone has 4 people instead of 3 makes them better then you. Not so much. glad it wasnt me in this situation or else fistacuffs would have flown.:rotfl2:
You had every right to be mad. Glad it worked out for you though:thumbsup2

We have had ressies for 4 at 1900 Park Fare and my son was ill and back at the hotel with my husband. My daughter and I showed up alone with a ressie for 4, explained the sitaution, and never had a problem at all. I think you just had a very unknowledgable or unfriendly CM!

They WILL seat you if 3 show up for a party of 4. The concierge at the YC told us if they have seating for 4, and there are only 3 of you in the first place, book it for 4 and when you get there tell them there are only 3 of you.

Hope this helps, and everything works out well for you.
